Hi! I’m Sue, my maiden name is Lyth, I’m 5 feet tall. Join me in the great outdoors, on foot, by bike and sometimes in the water.

Here to inspire, uplift, and make you smile.

Mountains, camping, climbing, hiking, cycling, swimming. For those interested, I’ve completed the Scottish Munros twice, and the Corbetts. Plus a good handful of the Alpine mountains above 4,000 metres.

It’s well known that spending time outdoors is good for our health. But don’t just do it for your own peace. Take responsibility for leaving our beautiful outdoor spaces with no trace of your presence.

Enjoy the content!

Sue

@FIVE-FOOTLyth 10 дней назад
@@izzieosullivan4021 thank you Izzie, lovely to hear from you! Dave has suggested doing some reviews on our gear so when we’re back in the UK I’ll give it a go 😘 As for gear, the stuff I use all the time & can highly recommend are: I always use RAB sleeping bags, can be expensive but really comfy. I have 3 depending on the season. Take a look at Rab women’s Neutrino range for a good combination of lightweight/warmth. Their website has loads to offer & can take a bit of navigating but I never use any other bag. My best bit of lightweight kit is the RAB (I’m not sponsored by the way) Women’s Vapour-Rise jacket. It’s weight/warmth ratio is superb! I always use Paramo waterproofs. Not the lightest but they keep me dry at all times and last for years & years. For camping I use Paramo’s Grid Long Janes, they’re great as pyjama bottoms in the cold but also great as a warm under layer. I also use the Grid base layers. Finally, a shout out to Nemo for our tent, the Dagger. It’s ridiculously light for its size, we discovered a minor fault near one of the guy points & they immediately sent us a brand new tent so now we have 2! The Dagger is a 2 person tent but the DragonFly is worth a look too. Hope this is helpful, if you want any other info please do ask. All the best! Sue 😊

Hi Duncan! I only use earplugs in a campsite or dorm. I like to hear everything otherwise. Hey, that’s great to hear of your plans & your upcoming retirement 👍 This trip was my first after retiring. Friday, last day at work, Monday, travel to Fort William. Very best wishes & a happy retirement!!

consider bringing a couple pairs of ear plugs they don't weigh anything and you never know when they will come in handy. i can't sleep without ear plugs. :(

@@martinclennon4640 Hi Martin! Yes, maybe my swimming earplugs might have helped a bit.. I didn’t think to pack those but certainly they might have helped at times 🤦‍♀️ Luckily that was the only rough weather spell. There was a storm one night but it was early enough to just sit in the tent & enjoy it 😁

Great videos of a great adventure, you look so joyous to be there. I've just bought one of those mats, it was a toss-up for that or Exped 3R, oh dear...

Hi Duncan! 😊 it was fantastic, exceeded my already high expectations 😀 ah, the mattress… on the bright side, they sent me a brand new one so I’ll continue to keep the other bothy dwellers awake with my fidgeting 😂😂

What an epic hike Sue! I've been told it's the toughest in Britain! I can sympathise with Dave, I'm like that losing everything and it drives me up the wall! At least the watch wasn't on his wrist! Oh god, the ticks are enough to put me off already. Which monument was that at Glenfinnan Sue? 🧐 blisters can certainly ruin one's enjoyment of a walk. Some beautiful rugged scenery as expected. You had some great weather! And the bothys looked decent! Great start to the trail!

Thank Matt 😊 Looking at your adventures I wouldn’t blame you if there was a wry smile on your face when you see the rain in the UK 😉 but it’s a wonderful hike! The Glenfinnan monument commemorates the Jacobite rising when Charles Edward Stewart (‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’) raised his standard on the shores of Loch Shiel. Historic Scotland! 😃 I hope you’re having the time of your life out there. ATB - Sue

Thanks for the memories , I completed the Cape Wrath last year and camped on that very spot with An Teallach . Hope you enjoyed the trail as much as I did.👍

Torridon, what a beautiful area, with great memories. My mattress is the same now, blowing it up during the night 😮 - 1/2 way, well done 👍

Thanks Mick 😁 Any plans for doing the CWT yourself? But not in a hailstorm like you did last time on the NC500 😉 You might need to replace the mattress though 😂 I got a brand new replacement from Sea to Summit, it’s still noisy though 😂

It just gets better Sue 😍You're taking us through some incredible landscapes with a bit of humour along the way. Please tell me Graham didn't carry those stones in his pack? 🤣Congrats on the 400 subs...another milestone reached 👏

thanks Ian 🙂I didn't realise 400 was a milestone 😂but the CWT is certainly helping a bit! I'm really pleased that people are joining us, I feel a bit like Forrest Gump when he went on his long run with folk joining him on the way 🥰 and I'm very grateful for the company. As for those brothers... I had hoped to film them having a scrap at the lighthouse but they were just too good friends at that point even for a bit of acting 😉 things got even better btw, it was incredible 😃

Just gets better as you hike north Sue (mountains and Glen I’ve never heard of until now 🏔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏔️) stunning Got to say this trail makes the WHW seem pretty tame (way more committing and remote) Cool you had some additional company too on this leg(can make the day that 👌🏻) ATB Simon 🤠👍🏔️

Thanks Simon! I agree it’s a wild one by comparison, the nature of the terrain, the distance & remoteness make for a memorable experience unmatched by anything else in the UK. And it gets even better 😍😃 really pleased that the videos are being enjoyed, it’s so encouraging 🤗

Love the breaky site Sue. Truly love it when it's as stripped back as that - feels like life is all about abandon. You certainly are on the trail of freedom - what an amazing trail - hey full of cool people too. I think Margo enjoyed the company of you guys. Lots to enjoy on this one - your pit stops also. A fair few of them but hey who said it was a race. Fantastic Sie - loving it. Mark

Thanks Mark, love that you’re joining us on this 🤗 Margo was brilliant, a real tonic & full of knowledge beyond her years, she’d even had a job as a gillie. The pit stops really kept our feet healthy, & Margo stayed with us that day without rushing off either 😊 I love meeting people out on the trail, they really add to the adventure. I notice that you always like to chat to others too, makes the experience more outward looking. Here’s to the great outdoors! Sue

@@FIVE-FOOTLyth A pleasure Sue - it's a great trek you're on. Good to hear of Margo - she looked happy as did your feet - ha ha! Re-meeting people, I love solitude but I always take the chance to connect. You guys are the same - we're humans. Have a great day...
