this is some fucking nuts merlantean support HOLY SHIT. They get basically dragoons 2.0, a card that cheats out coelicanth from deck straight onto the field WHILE PLUSSING YOU, that same card having a GY version of blaze accelerator reload's on field effect, and multiple ways to utilize the good but niche cards from the fringes of the archetypes (reusing the equip spells, much easier to use board breaker discards during opponents turn). The biggest thing is that noone really gets how unbelieveably broken coelicanth is now with the ghoti cards, you dedicate a few extra deck slots to a ghoti engine that you may want to play anyways and boom you have gymir aegirine, chengying, full ghoti combo on opponents turn, plus any other water monster you want to make with a tuner 3 and non tuner 7 (originally was baronne but thats gone in tcg and your in a water lock), plus insane followup without even thinking about what the merlantean discards can give you.
Ok more insects I'm down. But damn I'd rather just generic insects support. Konami should just cycle through all the types vs just focusing on spellcaster, dragon, fiends and warrior.
It sounds like what you are supposed to do in Battlewasp is make the new Lvl 12, modulate it’s level, and use it to Synchro into the old lvl 12, which banishes all the insects in grave to reduce opponents attack, which would summon the new 12, popping a bunch of stuff, while gaining attack for all the banished Battlewasps.
Konami has been pushing the Raika cards a fair bit and theirs already some good cards existing in insects so I think Battlewasps got the most promising support between all of the new support the 3 archetypes got today.
I don't think that all of the new main deck monsters are bad I just feel like Bodyguards was the only one that helped push them to a more modern level. But it and the other monsters don't put it at least at the lv. of Red D. Archfiend. They minus to much and don't get enough cards back so its still probably sitting at the bottom of rogue.
If I remember correctly the Battlewasps were run as an Engine alongside Beetroopers in the past at one point. That gives this deck potential for aggressive Fusion Synchro plays, as well as Links. On the flip side, this deck can effectively run Resonance Insect and even the Gokipole engine for some Nasty Combos!
@@MusicLover2116 All this really did was up the link climbing potential, which is still limted due to the lack of good insects. They do have the ragnarikas but I'd say the trap searcher is the best
I hate to say it, but I agree. The fusion and synchro insects the deck has available are pretty abysmal. Link spam is the way to go, just kind of a shame that they’re only 1-2 solid links away from being there now.
@JustNutzProd You’re not wrong, though if you think beyond type and look at Attribute, the deck could Jane opponents with Rivalry of Warlords and Barrier Statue of Stormwinds. Moreover, as for the effect damage side of Battlewasps, I can already see the New Battlewasp Strategy running three Pot of Desires
Yes it works in both Puppet and lab people could try back jack again but that might be too slow. In puppet it's let's you FTK on their turn or set up defensively. Not sure why it's a puppet card tbh.
Great news for blind second otk fans! Great to see Mermail Atlantians gets such great cards! These cards are definitely going to make otk’ing more consistent! Kinda wish Abyssrhine didn’t have that during opponent’s turn restriction so I could use it in Lunalight to get their cards to the grave and draw another card. Emerald Bird is fine enough, but Ash literally ends your turn if it’s normal summoned (yeah that’s a big reason why it’s only a 1 of in standard tcg decks but 3 of in duel links). The Battlewasp cards are really nice too! They already had some decent to below average cards for otk’ing, and these cards are a lot better! Awesome to see them get a Black Whirlwind like card! It’d be cool to see more cards like that for other archetypes. Hell, more cards that search more than 1 card at a time would be so cool (for going second only). And then the fusion dragon is a neat little generic fusion monster for otks Overall, lots of interesting cards!
These still don’t strike me as strong as the fire cards we’ve received over the last year, but still cool nonetheless. I wonder if they’ll reprint the older Atlantean and Mermail cards?
That xyz is insane in pre you will loop this card like three times. You could Trishula someone three times going first as well as Glacia someone. That card alone is more powerful than any card fire we got last year.
Battlewasp are basically insect type blackwings, and the new wave of support for them is ok all things considered imo, it kinda sucks that you cant use the new tri-type support with them and I just hope they get a lil bit more than than this and can actually be a viable rouge deck that doesn't have to rely on beetrooper or to much generic support in the future, bcuz design wise I think they are a clean 9/10 and they have potential for a really good swarm (no pun intended) synchro strategy that sets them appart from blackwings and can be a bit more consistent.
The atlantean cards are actually nuts. Quick line off the top of my head with prince and a discard. Normal Prince, send dragoons add dragoons. Add the lvl 7 that searches a mermail off dragoons. Pitch dragoons to summon the 7, add prince. 7 effect and dragoons to add the 2 new maindeck cards. Pitch the main deck cards to special summon the abyss searcher mermail, and special back any. Searc new equip. Next overlay for the rank 7 mermail, rank up to posaidra. Link into the 3, trigger posaidra. Get back prince and the 2 new ones back by discarded the anything. (If you discard a water search abyss equip that negates a monster with the link effect) Now you can link off for marincess coral with princes and one of the others, bring back a 3, xyz into levirtue search stream. Use new equip to bring back Posaidra, levirtue effect to move a material over. Rank up to Xyz Fortress. Search the trap and equip. set trap, hold equip for discard. Now this is a rough as he'll came up with in 5mins. But you get a monster negate, a icarus attack that gets back 3 bodies from posaidra with effect, and a rank up into lancer to suck a monster. THIS IS GONNA BE INSANE
@@khyros_cen1508 That's fair. But I can see why someone would not see the worth in it given the materials. You only have 3 fusion monsters that have both 2500 attack and 2500 defense and alba cannot be used. So you'd have to get at least 2 copies of Granguignol or quaeritis with another copy of the other on field. You should have no need of it at that point
Abyssrhine can summon Levia-Dragon - Daedalus from deck. Now, if people can figure out how to to get the Neo version into their hand with an Umi on board consistently, then hand loops will be everywhere.
