Howdy newt been using the WBO since you showed me how to tie it two years ago. It smokes fish here in Pennsylvania.. My go to…. And the dear hair merger worked well this spring.. Peace✌🏻
Once saw a Salmon in the Tyne, well the dog saw it first as he went down to the river for a drink. It was laid upright hard against the bank, with its belly on the silt. Definitely asleep. Like you I thought it was dead as I took a closer look, and then whoop off it went.
Great vid and great fishing well done. Just one point, wouldn’t a longer handled net make life easier? Say something like a Sharpes folding head sea trout net with an extending handle that can be attached to the D ring on your jacket so remains out of the way but can still be quickly and easily deployed.
I’m using a sink tip 3ips, you will get away with a floater just make your tippet length 5-6ft long but if you have a poly leader that will be your best option
Thanks mate, the one I caught last year was 4lb this one was 4.5lb. Will defo have to get out mate but not on the Derwent, my club do day tickets if you ever wanted a day out. Are you on Instagram?
Probably a sestrout you hooked. I was spinning yesterday and hooked a seatrout of 3 and half pound. Not massive but the fight was unbelievable. At one point id thought i had lost it and was hooked into a snag, but it was just the fish had stopped and wouldnt budge for a few seconds. And that was me using a spinning rod and it bring under 4 pounds, so you can imagine what it would be like if you hooked a 10 pound one!
The swale can be one dangourous river when rising, i was fishing it one day, not to far from where you were fishing, lovly sunny day, then i notices some braches washing down stream, within 15 minute it had risen 4ft. The big one might of been one of the brownies tourists cousins, right time of year for them.
