I don't know anything about her life, so this question isn't intended to be snarky or rhetorical. But wasn't she an adult when she chose these roles? I'm not understanding why she wouldn't have any responsibility for her choices. Or are you talking about her getting messed up as a child actress? Again, I don't know her story, but I definitely agree with you about how children are abused and mistreated, even more so in Hollywood with one's life on camera.

But honestly ADULTS in Hollywood get fucked over by other adults in Hollywood And at 18 your legally an adult, but the brain is still moldable and impressionable enough at that age (until 24/25), and especially in strenuous, stressful environments. An environment she’s been in since being a child entertainer. So I think this still applies to her, and many in this industry (Edit: just wanted to add that I thought your question was fair to ask, (most just jump to their own bias conclusions). I just wanted to give my thoughts on the context that I think should be considered)

I turn 33 this year and I’m currently doing a taught Master’s with a bunch of fresh-out-of-uni graduates. They are literally 21/22 and all seem like children to me. It’s weird how quickly we lose touch with ‘the youth’ - that was me only ten years ago. But it means I also cannot understand how people date outside their age range. People who consistently date much younger people really creep me out because how can they possibly not seem like a child? And what on Earth do you have to connect about or talk about? (I’m looking at you, Leonardo DiCaprio 👀 and Jordan/Jason in this film.)

I fully agree. Even when I went back to university at 23, the 18 yr olds were so immature to me. I couldn’t possibly feel any attractive 🤮. At 40, anyone below 35 feels like a baby. It also creeps me tf out when ppl date out of their age range.

This reminds me of the time I went home with this guy and we were watching tv and the channel played two movies alternating all night. He eventually fell asleep and the tv kept playing these two movies all night and I couldn’t find the remote and the tv was high up on the wall so I couldn’t reach it it to turn it off and he was asleep and I was kinda stuck there lol I tried to sleep but kept waking up to these same movie scenes over and over again and eventually I just got up and left cause it was driving me insane

8:07 And that’s crazy because actual training to be a lifeguard can be pretty intense and being certified in things like CPR is a must. During the course of a shift you could end up with someone’s life literally in your hands so you absolutely need to know what you’re doing. I mean, I know it’s just a movie but that whole premise of the hottest one essentially being put on display instead of the most competent being put on the job is a tired, old trope that lacks humor or originality.

My perception of Jonathan Bennett is forever tainted by his more recent work as the host of cake wars where he displays what I would describe as a deranged and threatening level of cheerfulness at all times. When I look at him I can’t help but think of the rugrats themed episode where they put him in a baby pen thing and he’s like rattling the bars. My friend thought I was making this up when I described it to him so I tried to clip the footage of it but screwed up the audio somehow so it was all doubled and echoey creating the absolute most cursed video of all time.

I can't help but notice the similarities between this and a very weird bad fanfiction called "trapped in a island with josh hutcherson" in both cases the main character (who is tangentially doctor-y) and random celebrity she happens to have a crush on end up on an island after one/both are thrown overboard on a ship. hunky boy has a broken leg. theres another girl they find by sheer happenstance who ends up w/ celebrity boy etc etc im left wonder though, if maybe the author was very poorly readapting this movie for that fanfiction...........or it could be a massive coincidence idk!

0:24 yes to everything but Ellen Ripley as a character was the ONE female character where I felt validated as a human being (as a woman). Probably because the character was originally written as a man and only later on made a woman. Writing women as real people just seems too hard sometimes, apparently. Even the underwear didn't feel heavily sexualized as it often is, although I admit that's a lowbar.

Growing up, I was quite a fan of Amanda Bynes and her acting. When you are a child, there is this sort of comfort is seeing a familiar face in similar roles. Looking back, it is more evident that her talent was wasted on one dimensional roles which gave deja vu feelings.
