why can't it happen? she LITERALLY GOT STELLAR REVIEWS ACROSS THE BOARD! She played a female version of Joaquin phoenix's joker and might have gotten better and stronger reviews than even him even from people and critics who may have not loved the movie. and interestingly enough, her range and presence in pearl kind of reminded me of a younger Cate Blanchett or Meryl Streep. An Oscar nomination for Mia could help turn around her career which has been filled with mostly niche indie films. She deserves more mainstream commerical success and recognition and hopefully becomes a bigger star after MaXXXine at least.

Mia goth not getting a nomination is Sooo BLOODY UNFAIR! she basically gave a female equivalent performance of Joaquin phoenix's oscar winning Joker performance but might have gotten even more stronger and stellar reviews than him. plus she reminds me of a young Cate Blanchett or Meeyl Streep. She's far better than some past Oscar nominated and Oscar winning performances. An Oscar nomination for Pearl could REALLY turn her career around! she should be 1 of the 5 but A24, some critics and media journos really need to campaign hard for her and Michalle Williams needs to go back to supporting!

@nikitamohanan2124
@nikitamohanan2124 Год назад
@@livingdeadjake4228 I don't mind Michelle yeoh getting a nomination. Her performance was stellar even if EEATO is too weird and overwhelming for you. The real issue is Michelle Williams needs to go back to supporting actress category so that Mia can get a fair shot at a nomination. She commands and carries Pearl on her shoulders just as much as Cate in TAR and Danielle deadwyler in Till. I saw some critics online saying "Pearl is too small for Mia to get nominated"??? Umm I don't really understand that cuz most of last year's Oscar best picture nominees were box office flops. I read somewhere that X and MaXXXine were made on a shoestring budget of 1-2 million each with minimal lowkey marketing. So compared to the negligible small budget, both Pearl and X were modest hits if you look at the profits to earnings ratio! Mia Goth's performance REALLY is the female equivalent of Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar winning Joker performance in the sense she showed just as much range and complexity but her film obviously lacks the publicity and controversy surrounding Joker. Still it's so ridiculous not to nominate her cuz she got TREMENDOUS REVIEWS FOR HER PERFORMANCE from LITERALLY EVEEYONE WHO HAS SEEN IT.

Guys I don’t know if it was just me but I think Ana De Armas was a powerhouse as Monroe in Blonde. She completely held everything in that movie, for all the hate for it Armas was everything to like about it. It was like when I saw Elvis and though both Armas and Butler portrayed such icon characters. Sometimes I see films and I’m like you can see actors are acting into their roles but with Armas and Butler it feels like you’re watching Elvis and Monroe themselves, portraying themselves. It doesn’t feel like you’re watching an actor trying to act. I haven’t seen many films yet but I will by Oscar night and Cate blanchett is my favourite actress so I expected big from her. Michelle Yeoh was great in that film but nothing special for me, many actresses could do that same role, think we’re looking to deep into the fact of it being such a quirky and weird film with “Everything”.

Cate Blanchett is my favorite actress. Bar none. Being an Asian film fan, I really really want Michelle Yeoh to become the first Asian actor or actress to win for a LEADING role. Seeing Blanchett in that Tar trailer, I can say she beats Yeoh’s performance to be perfectly honest. The only thing I feel setting her back is the fact she already won two Oscars and it’s very rare to win a third.

Blanchett's acting is on a completely different level compared to the other potential nominees here (not to mention the movie is a slow burn but never boring). To see others discounting her chances because her movie run time of 2 hrs 38 mins is long (meanwhile MCU flicks like Black Panther - Wakanda Forever is at 2 hrs 41 mins and Avengers - End Game is at 3 hrs 2 mins long!) or to discount her chances because she already has 2 Oscars is just disheartening, considering Blanchett has given a performance that I think is the best of any male and female actor this year (so far that is).

5. Margot Robbie (Babylon) 4. Viola Davis (The Woman King) 3. Danielle Deadwyler (Till) 2. Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) 1. Cate Blanchett (TÁR) First things first: I do think Michelle Williams will be nominated for The Fabelmans, just not as Best Actress. I think either she'll get LaKeith'd into Best Supporting Actress by the AMPAS or Universal will realize how monumentally moronic was their move and come to their senses. Probably the first one tbh. As to my top 5 itself: I feel pretty decent about it. Top 2 are locks, and will compete for the win. 3-5 are basically tied, but I'm mostly confident in their chances. Olivia Coleman (Empire of Light) and Ana de Armas (Blonde) are the top 2 outside contenders, and I'm not ruling out Taylor Russell (Bones and All) or either of the 2 She Said leads, but I don't currently think anyone else stands a chance. And then there's of course the possibility that Michelle Williams will actually get in for Lead, which I'm not counting on, but certainly isn't out of the question.

Ok, a general comment about Oscar nominations. I have been following the Oscars for decades and every year we have heard complaints/comments of snubs in the picture category and directing category and most definitely the acting categories. What if the Academy opened itself up and evolved a bit and allowed SIX nominations in the acting and directing categories! 😮 They finally allowed a fixed 10 in the Picture category! Call it a revolution! 😉 Honestly, I am not sure what it would really accomplish except for honoring 1 additional individual. But that is important, isn't it? Perhaps it could elevate some deserving individual into the limelight (one that would have easily been overlooked) and added an additional choice into the mix. I am sure the other branches of the Academy would be up in arms, and rightly so I suppose, as they could feel slighted, less important. Ultimately, I think it would be a progressive change, helping to highlight more individuals in their creative excellence.

I'm ....... confused. Where was Margot Robbie in this discussion? How sis all three of you not mention her, Lol? If she goes lead, and if she's great and if the movie is great ... I see her as a real contender for the Win as a late-breaker. My best bets as of now: Blanchett, Yeoh, Deadwyler, Williams, Robbie. I definitely see a world where Colman, Viola Davis (TWK is at $65 mill and growing), Ackie could contend. And I agree with Perri that Mia Goth ABSOLUTELY deserves a push.

Im rooting for Michelle Yeoh, she is a power house and has been for years, never even getting nominated This is also a movie that could do very well in nominations and also was a Box Office hit It will also be a moment for Oscar, only the second woman of color winning ever, it will be a win all over. While Blanchett seems her Big contender, she is a very Boeing choice, third Oscar I feel like if Michelle gets in a stage for a good acceptence speech, it could be her season.
