For me, the most impressive movie this year was Everything, everywhere... I went to see it without knowing anything about it and it totally resonated with me. I saw it a second time and it was the same. I cried both times.

To add to Jeffs choice of Queer Cinema, a big one for me was the Queer for Fear doc on Shudder. Ive been waiting for that for years and it didnt disappoint.

Great episode .. Don't see the Academy giving Tom Cruise the Oscar but the movie was a MASTERPIECE

I'm thankful for Guillermo Del Toro for Cabinet of Curiosities and Pinocchio, Wednesday, Andor, The Batman, The White Lotus, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Marcel the Shell with Shoes on, The Offer, Winning Time, The Banshees of Inishirin, and of course FYC because I love you guys. The main reason is I'm thankful for being able to be a film critic and I'm able to see all the terrific tv shows and films I've been able to see this year and every year.

Thankful for TÁR and The Banshees Of Inisherin 💜

I'm thankful for the movie ELVIS, and for Baz Luhrmann's work on it, and especially for AUSTIN BUTLER'S two years of 24/7 work on getting the essence of Elvis. No one has worked harder for a movie. He pulled it off and got me into a theater for the first time in many years. Most of the millions who saw it, saw it multiple times. Some 30, 40 times. I saw it four and can't wait to see it again. The cinematography was astounding, as well as the music and costumes. It was a theatrical experience. Only Baz.

soft and quiet is so dark but very realistic surprised to see that film here

I watched Pearl the other day and damn, was Perri right about Mia Goth in it.

I’m grateful for: Barbarian being my favorite movie going experience with all its twists and tones changes. Ted Lasso winning its Emmy’s after Gold Derby wanted to #believe CODA proving a great film can win Best Picture without having to be a traditional big budget studio awards budget. Perri. Perri you make movie geekdom hot. Grateful for FYC being the best award analysis show out there.

OH ALSO did I mention music movie sound track is phenomenal already won AMA AWARD performers Yola Shonka "Littlen Richard" music is absolutely messmerising exciting!! its all so captivating! OH I MEAN "ELVIS' OF COURSE AUSTINS SINGING AND ELVIS"S CANT HEAR ENOUGH! S

I am grateful for my favorite film of the year FRESH and the omnipresence of Hong Chau.

Just watched TAR & it's so overrated .. Blanchett is great but the movie is mid .. Even Nope was disappointing .. Can't wait for The Fablemans, but for now TOP GUN is the movie of the year

I am 100% Thankful for Top Gun Maverick. Saw it 8 times in movie theater, was a true movie going experience. It should win Best Picture hands down. I'm not sure why everyone loves Everything Everwhere All At Once. Yes, it's unique for sure as I have never seen two women make out with hot dog fingers. Unique doesn't mean great. Can't unsee that....

ALSO LOVE!!! HORROR MOVIES!! But I think NOPE was an embrrassment for Jordan Peel felt like I was back in the 40"s or 50"s watching a bad version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers almost was ready to leave the movie

I’m just not on the ‘everything’ train. I liked the film but I wouldn’t say it was a truly great film. It was quirky and had good moments but the off beat whacky was just too much and went too far. sorry Perri 😂

No love for TAR

I know this is an unpopular take, but I really did not like Everything Everywhere. As someone who struggles with existential dread, the way it simplified and glossed over Joy’s problems to give Yeoh’s character cathartic success really rubbed me the wrong way. Great acting (Stephanie Hsu is legitimately my second favorite ever performance, only behind Portman’s Black Swan), really cool visual storytelling and good action/humor. But the script was just a failure to me. And I know that mental health is really hard to do right onscreen (especially because audiences want the big cathartic moments, that generally don’t exist, or more accurately simply don’t matter as much as the everyday struggle), but that’s not an excuse to do it badly. I recently saw Desert Red for the first time, and the way it meditated on depression was so powerful, accurate and meaningful in a way no standard (or “wacky un-standard”) action movie could be.

I like you guys a lot, BUT I cannot stand Tom Cruise, so I can’t wait for you to stop singing his praises
