I don't know what's worse, this being like all in Vergil's head and that being true or if it's all real and this is literally just "After Vergil was defeated a magical portal just appeared as he died and he had to fight to get is heart back because it's symbolic and crap!"
@@bast01 Oh don't act like it's the first time he's wrong about something. It is pretty much fine anyway since the game is obviously going to be better than this one.
To be fair DMC5 has way more enemy variety, weapons and characters to play as at launch that any other game in the series, I think a month odd delay is fair considering the shear content, especially since rushing the mode at this stage would negatively impact other aspects of the game at launch. We are getting the void anyway which I find more important, I can git gud for when bloody palace opens lol
Uncle Dante has been in Marvel vs Capcom since 3, even his big bro Vergil showing up in the Ult version of that game. Nephew Dante got a chance into Playstation All stars. Who knows, maybe Nero might get into Smash over the Sons of Sparda.
The idea with light and heavy attacks is that light attacks have less weight behind them while heavy attacks have more. Remember that force is dependent on mass as well as acceleration. Think boxing; a jab is fast but is only a fist while something like a haymaker has the boxer's entire body behind it.
@@yukariyakumo8300 Ironically, swords as a bladed weapon require the least amount of additional force, due to their slicing edge. Compared to say, a club. I think the main point is that videogame combat is 'unrealistic', because most developers ignore core combat concepts. such as efficiency (which relies heavily on our understanding of physics). But thats why we love em :D
@@yukariyakumo8300 But no he is indeed swinging it slower in the animation for his divorce combo. Itd make sense like you meant if he took a moment to charge up the swing and then swung super fast but no he is actually just swinging it slower. Heavy attacks in real life have more ending lag/start up. But in video games to preserve game feel they just have a slower overall animation.
Funny listening to Pat say your game needs an arena mode on launch when it was announced at TGAs that even DMC5 is getting it post launch. This was recorded before TGAs to be fair though.
You know what's a great idea? Give your character moves that allow him to easily zip around the environment and teleport near enemies, and then make the levels a series of minuscule platforms on top of a gigantic bottomless pit, and have half the enemies be able to float outside said platforms. Good job, Ninja Theory.
That's not even the worse part. In DMC, a game meant to be on the ground mostly, flying enemies would always try to stay above you which gives us those cool air fights you see top players have. In DmC, a game made to have better air game, enemies always get on your level which is what caused Woolie to fall down by them not making any effort to fly up.
@@M7S4I5L8V2A If he pulled the enemy toward him he wouldn't have fallen off. Have you seen the good players play this game and how they have absolute control over the enemy?
Vegils attitude towards humanity makes no sense. I'd like to point out he was raised by a super nice rich family, that gave him a trust fun. That literally how hes able to pay for all the tech the resistance has. Wait, wait its starting to make sense now. he's one of those rich assholes who don't understand why minimum wage isn't enough to support a kid and another person. It all makes sense, the m'lady hat, his sense of entitlement. Truly, a masterful example of social commentary.
I found on the wiki that Vergil become multi-millionaire through writing and selling security encryption program, so its kinda safe to assume that Vergil made all of those himself. And with that kind of intelligent and lacking of wisdom, it's understandable that he think he's better than everyone, especially when he discovered his truth identity as a son of a powerful demon and an angel, and how human is easily manipulated by Mundus. He's not a good character but his character kinda make sense
Yeah, those cutscenes feel super specifically like they wanted Dante and some monster version of Kat to be bosses you fight in the DLC but they literally just didn't have the money for it at all.
11:22 Why would it matter so much to be a son of sparda if in this version sparda only got imprisoned and is now living in bdsm hell and nothing else? heck the brothers don't even try to save him from hell for god's sake that's how unimportant he is
@@soliduswasright678 yeah but Pat said that a game not having this kinda of stuff at launch means that you are not confident of about the combat of your game. But to be fair it's probably crazy talk's fault rewriting the world to make Pat wrong
@@soliduswasright678 I Know I played the demo too but that proves that Pat was talking shit because he said that when a game focused on combat doesn't have a arena like mode on launch that means that the developer wasn't confident on it's combat
@@bast01 Because the hatred for this game is seeping out, he was trying his best to be fair while he was playing but now that's he's on the sidelines watching, he can't help it. (Can't blame him either cuz fuck this game lmao)
The thing about speed and strength is that weight is taken into account, as a weapon that can be swung fast, is probably lighter and smaller than one that is heavier. It's like being hit with a mallet against being hit with a stick, sure the stick will hurt a lot, but the mallet will break your bones.
Some how the gravitas behind "becoming the son of Sparda" is lost when Sparda's biggest achievement was bonking an Angel and then getting his balls tortured for all eternity. Really doesn't have the same ring as "the Demon who woke up to justice and sealed the Demon World away from the Human one".
Sorry to be a negative nancy but the real ugliness of virgins old school costume is that it's still styled to look like the regular downfall costume now. The collar and body of the coat is uneven and equally uncomfortable when you look at it too hard.
i would argue that the face and the body seem to be from two different models, and the shades on the spiky hair makes it look weird compared to the rest of the shadders on the face and body
Pat makes fun of him saying that because they're twins - but my impression is that Dante came out after and is simply mocking Vergil, not being literal.
This is kinda funny after watching the newest DMC5 trailer Like DMC5 has nothing to prove as far as combat is concerned but like DMC5 isn't getting bloody palace until i think a month after launch Its DMC5 tho and not a remake of the series so no one is really gonna doubt the combat
Good luck with that. Capcom is never going to make anyone forget about this game (especially since Dante is getting an alternate coloration based off of DmC Dante that was also in DMC4SE).
I always thought that shadow Virgil/Dante was just raw hell energy manifesting to find a new king. So it keeps twisting you until your just a sadistic monster. Also couldn't Virgil look for dad while he's here or even when THE DLC ENDS.
That you don't actually fight Dante in this DLC basically a travesty. Doing that and getting it right would have been worth sacrificing one or two entire levels, especially when these levels feel similar anyway. Fighting hordes of generic easier enemies is so boring. I really wish this DLC had taken the DMC1 route and given you a smaller amount of really difficult enemies, and made those fights personal, like you were being actively hunted down in Hell. Heck ... you have the DMC license, why not use that transforming shadow-cat thing or something like it?
it legitimately would have been something it had over the original series, actually playing as vergil and fighting Dante in a story without needing bloody palace
@@RandomCollection04 Knowing they didn't have the funds didn't make my experience playing the game better. And as I said, I would have played a dramatically shorter version of the game that actually had an original boss fight
Woolie At the Start of the Series - Buys Judgement Cut, arguably one of Vergil’s most popular moves Woolie Through the Rest of the Series - Doesn’t use Judgement Cut
Probably because it locks you into place. Which he showed off that it doesn't let you move while charging unlike any other charge move in the entire series.
This playthrough is great motivation to play DMC4 Vergil. Each episode I just pause and wander off in the middle of it to taste the sweet beauty that is DMC4 Vergil.
I just realized something: Vergil gets his angel moves after deciding to go after Kat, and then gets his demon moves when he kills her. He literally did a "A can be your angle... or yuor devil"!
>DmC did not release on launch Pat: "mmmm... That's not allowed anymore, for your combat game." >DMCV Release Date: March 8th, 2019 >DMCV Bloody Palace Update: ~April 2019 well then... guess that's not allowed.
4:00 like I said last episode this DLC is super buggy. I think the platform after you get the demon Yamato is where my game stopped working, I could move but not progress. I think what I found was that the DMC 3 Vergil costume is what caused so many problems and I think one of the other ones crashed my game. Edit: one big design difference in terms of air combat between DMC and DmC is that flying enemies in DMC are designed to fly above you where as here they stay at your level even if you fall. Using Jump Canceling against Fausts you can stay in the air as much as you want because they refuse to not be above your level where as in DmC they insist on being on your level to the point of falling.
I'm always concerned when I see a clear attempt from creators to make a character sympathetic but THEY. JUST. AREN'T. Like, what is wrong with the writer/director that they would look at the piece of shit person they created and think "oh man, this character who did all this filthy shit that I know they did while in complete control of their actions sure has it rough, aren't they a tragic figure?"?
The way this story is playing out so far, it doesn't feel like they're trying to make Vergil justified, but to explore how his feelings of weakness and betrayal lead him down a darker path. Admittedly, it would've been far more effective had he been better characterized in the game.
@@Corrector1 You're probably right about what the story is *trying* to do. Maybe the bigger problem is that nothing in the story led up to this. We were shown that Vergil would only save Kat if Dante pushed him and his inferiority complex was never adressed. If I'm not actually supposed to feel for him, am I meant to go through this DLC thinking "man, what a dumbfuck loser"? And if that's the intention, wouldn't it be better to have Vergil's internal monologue about how "everybody betrayed me, I'm fed up with this woorld!" juxtaposed with every scene where Kat and Dante were supportive? Or just have the scenes of Dante and Kat being supportive and have Vergil being an ass and interpreting them as pitying him? I went on way too long, I'm so frustrated with this story telling.
@@SoaringLettuce lol im more concerns when they've stopped trying and just gave us boring predictable characters and story or reusing the same old shit everytime with just some little different details.
So is it weird that Vergin apparently thought Donte was way more witty than he was? Sure he’s not in Dante or Nero’s level but it’s definitely a step up from he main game.
Pat's Crazy Talk is even stronger than ever Pat: "Bloody Palace didn't come out, you can't do that now in your DMC game". DMC V: "Bloody Palace coming one month after release" Holy shit, Pat.
Like Pat said, almost a self reflection. “But cat I saved you. We were friends right?” You used me, left me for dead, used me again versus mundus, and then called me an inferior species. “But I only did that because it was necesary. Wait, was it?” “Nah it was.” *eviler for no reason.
Well, it depends on the severity of the wound and what caused it, not how many. In his case, through the heart with Rebellion for several seconds. Which is a pretty strong weapon, while Dante is in devil trigger to boot.
Just a reminder, Kat was specifically like "Let him go, Dante, or he's going to die!" and then Dante let Vergil go specifically so he could escape and survive. So the only thing Kat really does to save either of them in the entire game is straight-up negated because Vergil just dies anyways.
Prolong it as long as you want, you have run out of most of the devil may cry content, we all want it and you can't escape it. You have no choice but to do a let's read of the Devil May Cry novel
23:57 Oh my fucking lord. You can hear the lost souls moaning sound effect during the cutscene cause you start right next to it. Jesus christ, how lazy were they?
This Vergil in the alternate skin looks like the guy who shows up to an audition wearing the costume of the character he wants to play in order to get the part.
Fact: the only thing more powerful than a judgement nut is a distorted real nut. You gotta pull your devil trigger right as its going off and the nutt gets both the dt bonus and normal damage. If done right it can even one shot girls.
Demon mode Yamato making the same noises as Arbiter is incredibly annoying. Also I don't think BP launching post launch (it was free in DmC too, wasn't it?) is that bad, provided it's not like 8 months late and the base game has enough stuff to do. No idea when exactly it came out for DmC, admittedly. Oh yeah and 23:20 sounds like he's telling a PC to stop running Dante.exe because of the missing comma.
Man all they had to do to fix that problem with Vergil not being able to get back on a platform after chasing enemies is put some of those blue anchor points here and there. The whole landscape is made up of floating debris, having some rocks with anchor points floating here and there would've made sense and helped so much.
oh if you thought the guy glitching out in the portal was bad, I had that entire group of enemies get stuck under the platform so I had to nearly die to be able to damage them
The Comments are easily the best part of this LP. Thank you, Woolie and Pat, for hosting this swamp of Memes, Madness, and Meta with the occasional analysis Honestly if they wanted Vergil to be dope, Angel and Demon Mode should’ve been stance switches!!! like Angel Mode being reverse grip and Demon Mode being a two handed grip (classic Samurai stance)
