Egyptians are mostly Arab now, that wasn't always the case Egypt has been populated with civilization for 6,000 years at least. To begin with there were multiple distinct regional cultures in the area that eventually coalesced into Lower Egypt in the north and Upper Egypt in the south the former being populated with proto-Arabs/Persians the latter with Sub-Saharan Africans IE black people eventually Upper Egypt conquered Lower Egypt and during the subsequent the old and middle kingdom periods when the Pyramids were built the people were predominately sub-Saharan African IE black but they were conquered by and sub-planted by waves of essentially other proto-Arabs/Persians like the Hyksos from the Levant eventually about 800 years later those proto-Arabs/Persians formed the New kingdom of Egypt which was predominately Arabs/Persianswhen the Karnak and the obelisks were built which btw was still over 3000 years ago. History is longer and more complicated than people realize I didn't even touch on the Nubian, Greek, and Roman invasions the New Kingdom went through. When it comes what race were the Ancient Egyptians there's not one single simple answer strait answer.

Not Middle Eastern, but North African is distinctly different than Sub-Saharan African. And many of the more famous Ancient Egyptian royalty (Cleopatra, for example) were Ptolemaic Greeks. Granted there was a Nubian Dynasty at one point, but the majority of ancient Egypt's history and culture comes primarily from native Egyptian dynasties and later Ptolemaic Greek Egyptians to a lesser extent.
