Nia was often not arguing in good faith, I suspect. Bill was 100% on topic and trying his dangedest to stay "on topic" and remain logical. She - in contrast - was largely interested in scoring easy points, derailing the conversation, etc.

I have been listening to Bill's podcasts (faithfully) every Monday and Thursday for a little over a year now... Not only is he flat out hilarious, but I love how much sense he makes about things that are just like this... Every once in a while, Nia will come on to his podcast - and I admit the way she has a tendency to undermine him, interrupt him and talk over him, (not to mention the way her SJW mentality has seriously gotten on my nerves many, many times) I myself have wondered if she realizes what a remarkable man she is so lucky to be married to. Now all of that said - I have come to realize that these two are quite perfect for one another. Wait. Just hear me out. Whenever they dip into their different view points - Nia quickly comes off as defensive, intolerant and she definitely gets condescending at times. For Bill's listeners who love him - and who are are tuning into listen to HIM - know how annoying AF this can be. BUT - after listening to Bill's podcast for as long as I have now - I've come to understand that Nia knows how to challenge Bill in a very unique kind of way - and it keeps him on his toes. I don't think that there are a whole lot of people who could do that the way she does... And - yes, Bill takes it - but he only takes it so far... He never lets Nia get too out of hand. He knows exactly how and when to put her in her place whenever she starts getting too far off the rails... Bill is sometimes over cocky and Nia comes off as a pretentious bitch - and what is so great about them as a couple - is the way they have the ability to slow each others roles. They actually balance each other quite remarkably by the way they will each digress in ways for the better - and I love their ability to laugh hysterically at one another. Furthermore - I just want to add that anyone who is a fan of Bill Burr - knows that he is in by no means a stupid man - nor does he ever let anyone walk all over him... Bill had an envious bachelor lifestyle that was the envy of men everywhere before he got with Nia - I'm sure it wasn't something that he easily let go of... But, he did. He chose to give it up for Nia. When you think about it - There must have been something really special about Nia for Bill to chose her to be his wife, and the mother of his child. There is a reason why he chose her to share every day of his life with - He chose her, and for that reason alone, she has my respect.

Nia has a fairly unattractive personality on the very surface level, and somewhat problematic reasons of thought on a deeper level. You are right that they kind of balance each other out and they can still laugh at each other at the end of the day. Though I think that is a testament to how much shit Bill can take and remain happy, I could not take that shit and be happy like him. That is one of major the reasons I respect so much. I think that they will split before 20 years. Marriages are inherently really tough with many obstacles, I don't think her being is conducive in helping to fix the problems. She'll probably just add to the problem until it destroys the marriage, only a minority have healthy, good and successful marriages. They are really going to fight when their daughter hits her teens, they are going to disagree so much. Children break apart marriages more times than people realise.
