We need a financial jubilee to get this country back in shape. Let the banks fail, throw those who were corrupt and responsible in jail, and wipe everyone's debt slate clean and start over from scratch. It will take a few years to rebound from but it is way better than the alternative outcomes we are facing.
For those who say it won't work look Iceland did exactly this a few short years ago and they are now on the verge on being a healthy economy again and they are much better off than had they taken the endless bailouts like Greece tried to do and we all know what kind of shape Greece is in now...
+DaL agreed, however all ponzi schemes eventually collapse, so the only answer is to start over. either wipe all debt and reissue a new FIAT and we will deal with this again in another 50 years or wipe all debt and reissue a gold backed currency and we can go on with a stable currency. honestly I don't care what they choose to reissue but at the moment the dollar is dead and it's time to accept the situation, wipe the board clean, and start over with something new.

In ancient civilizations, the second part of this was actually a common practice. Every few years, everyone's personal debts would be reset to prevent people from getting too deeply buried. I believe it was the Roman empire that put a stop to this, and they ended up.... well, yeah...

It isn't the bankers. It's the lobbyist and those at the top who are in bed with government change the laws in subtle ways in order for things to turn to their favor.
