My great grandmother in Sturgis, Ky would set food out for the hobos passing thru during the great depression. My great grandfather was a carpenter and mailman during the time. Their house was across the street from the Sturgis grain mill and siding. ICRR served the area when i was a kid. I remember in the 1970s seeing hobo encampments near their house. I grew up 1 block from the tracks so hearing the trains always made me feel secure and at home. I never forget one summer day a train going thru and there was a large vibration and noise, we all rushed down the the street expecting to see a derailment! It turned out to be an earthquake tremor from the New Madrid fault. Safe travels Shoestring and thanks for your military service.
I have come across your videos by YT recommends....👌 Those experiences, and mesmerizing landscape images, Shoestring... It seems as though, we're right there with you man. My good friend Scotty, that I only occasionally run into, he traveled for a bit in the south hopping boxcars. He told me some stories, as we drank our 40s. one time. But, as usual, he just gets up and travels...before I know it, he's gone. You so remind me of him, in so many ways. You have a following....many folks out there care for you, so be safe, becareful... always. 🛤 🖖 Cyprus.
Hobo, The videos are great however I think your viewers would like you to narrate about your trip. You used to provide many interesting facts about your trips.I miss that part.
An interesting fact about this trip................The house @ 1:30 is on the corner of West 4th Street and Broadway Street. The video above shows that a sidewalk from the house to the sunroom has been put in, and the house, sunroom, and garage have all been painted since the last "google car" image on the google maps page.............. HHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@Katie Rae you don't want to be disrespectful? Too late for that. Making judgement without "looking into it" is ignorant. Not respectful. Mr. Stobe was an adult. Who drank. Why is the intelligent, quick witted, talented musician being publicly judged like this? After his death, no less. Sad.
At 5:02, that's going to be funny as hell one of these days when some boater comes blasting through and there's another methane gas eruption going on like this one and he tosses a cigarette overboard and about 3 States around that area get obliterated......
Have you ever thought to add some piano playing to the videos... I like the little I heard you play. just footage of the world passing by and some riffs.. golden.
Should’ve looked to the east, seen downtown Metropolis, and the 15 ft Superman statue...You blew it, dude...I lived there for several years, and helped run the museum there...
@@twizz420 Had he looked towards downtown, or East, as he was going into KY, he would’ve seen the statue...the trestle is in plain sight from the statue, in front of old city hall, & just beyond the police station/jail...But yeah, his boxcar wasn’t open on the east side...So you don’t see much of anything there.
ChainsawN&W1218, that was a nice view on that long trestle going over the mighty Mississippi River, next time You ride to Roanoke VA or Radford it would be cool if You get a shot going over the trestle at the New River in Radford it predates the Civil War, I've filmed one coming over it before!🛤🚂
