Here it is, a tutorial going over JCing and how to apply it in gameplay. lol Now to take another small break before I start working on the next video script.
After the third video for this series, I'll start working on a mechanics breakdown guide for Nero Dante and V. I'll eventually go back to the Takin' Notes series though. But I wanted to get these out for newcomers.
Inspiration taken from novriltataki for his Guilty Gear Crash Course Series

Nero
Devil Bringer = O
Devil Breaker = R2
DT = L1
Break Away = Dpad
Everything else is default. Dante and V are also Default controls.

7:45 SWEET!! This is what I need the most. I understand the underlying mechanics of DMCV (like JC for example) but I can never string any decent combo because I'm not creative enough. I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to your tutorial on combo structures and advance setups. Also, Chaser, can you also give a combo tutorial/guide when dealing with mob fights? I feel like this is topic is the least talked about when it comes to DMC. People always teach combos, and how to do them, but they never teach them in the context of the game proper itself--like when you're actually fighting mobs of enemies and doing crowd control. Doing SSS on a single enemy is easy. Doing SSS while everyone in the room is trying to kill you is something different entirely and can get pretty hectic.

Most advanced combos are aerial, so it's actually safer since very few enemies can catch you mid-air.

More often, advanced setups usually involve a mix of ground and air attacks, and probably lot of ground tricks for Dante, if you want increased air time just spam air taunt/switch kick for Dante, and snatch JC for Nero. There were tutorials for DMC4 about things like behaviours as well as how to crowd control, most people just don't appreciate/care about them.

Personally, with mob fights if I'm playing as Dante, I like to distance myself from all the enemies, apply sin devil trigger, then hold down the right trigger to activate his rapid fire projectile attack that goes after all enemies on the map at the given moment. Then, as soon as that's done, if there's any more enemies that hasn't died yet due to that, I'd top it off with Oblivion, so that Dante would start slicing and dicing with mock swords cutting up all enemies on the field. If used properly, this combo would give you a triple S rank in the style meter. Then, after all that you'd revert back to Dante, and can finish off anyone left over however you wish.

This is such a well done tutorial I was genuinely confused when I couldn't pull it off. Then I realized I'd somehow made it all the way through Dante Must Die mode and never bought Enemy Step. So uh... whoops.

thanks for all the tips. It helps that you mention the transition from 4 to 5 , and having lots of basic combos for newcomers. Maybe have a series with example combos that newcomers who can't freestyle to train with, using techniques like JC. It'll help them train them to remember how to mix up different moves. Got a lot of newcomers to the series so having a tutorial series is going to be better for the community as a whole

It's amazing how learning to use Enemy Step for dodging and JCing can drastically change your gameplay. When I learned the power of Enemy Step, I feel like I went from a poor player to a slightly above average player in like an hour.

Because you essentially do once you learn that. No offense to newer players but being able to jump cancel and make any kind of combos using it (or just free styling) instantly puts you above the average.

Jump cancelling is so incredibly easy in this game compared to past entries. Granted it's slower now, but I was doing JC Calibur combos on my first run on Normal difficulty with old DMC4 knowledge.

If this game gets a turbo mode, I'd bet jump cancelling will probably feel just as fast and snappy as the older games.

Devil Sword Dante in Swordmaster, hit style button as helm breaker or stinger hits to keep enemies from being pushed away. Also r2 with Nero for the same.

you might think this is easy, but this can only be done with people who can process info extremely fast which isnt a lot of us. My best combo with nero is two air calibur in a row. that's how far ive gone with nero. Imo, Dante is a little easier but still complicated.

You don't have to have some innate amazing ability to do this. You really just have to practice and get used to it. I'm not saying that getting to Chaser's level is easy but you can do way better than 2 caliburs

This is so frustrating man I felt like I was just starting to get used to dmc and even learning royalguard timing and then I learn about jump canceling. It doesnt work whenever I try to do it except for the rebellion one you showed. It's so unbelievably overwhelming. I always miss the jump and either myself or the enemy fall too quickly. Idk how ti get competent let alone master this, its impossible.

Yo awesome vid man in your next vid can you throw in nero buster punch. He uses his devil wings to punch. Just press RB or R1 after a hit depending on platform it also keep the enemy close to you after calibur. Works just like excced and in devil form he punchs twice its a new move nero didn't have in dmc4

If you can Ex or Max Act the first two hits of Nero's aerial combo, you can just soit damage on enemies.

Man I can stay in the air for 20 years with 5 Dante, but Nero has always made me hesitate. Do I just need to use Blue Rose/Wire Snatch more? I find my problem is that Charge Shots send the enemy upward and away at a really bad angle, should I just Charge Shot > High Shot then adjust my positioning from there? Great vids btw

If you use the "Devil Punch" (Devil Bringer action button) -or something like that- as soon as Calibur hits the target, you'll leave the enemy in the air preventing it from getting knoced back too far away and being able to JC to proceed the combo, don't know ir u already knew that, just tryna help :D

Switch the gun button to a Left Shoulder button. You'll always be able to charge it. Works with V too, having Griffon on a Shoulder button makes attacking with him easier. Nero - Gun L1, Devil Trigger R2, Arm break D-pad V - Griffon L1, Auto attack 🔳 The game will save your settings for *each* character so you won't have to change your buttons each time you switch characters.

Question - if you knock an enemy away from dante mid air, do you just trickster teleport to the enemy again and JC? With nero its easy to keep enemies close to u with snatch. How do we implement with Dante? Awesome video btw. You sir have earned a sub.

I might be full of shit, but I don't think you'd use Dante's trickster like that. Dante's best option is to keep the enemy suspended where they are. Maybe used defensively while your vulnerable you dodge away and come back to avoid Arial attacks. Dante is the hardest to master for that reason. Sword master is great for combos like using Balrogs sm aerial. The move name escapes me. But it's better to know what move does what and what it can combo effectively for you. It's why you can change the order of the weapons.

@@sevenofcrows7 that actually makes more sense when u put it that way. With nero u can pull enemies towards you, but with Dante you use the SM aerial moves and JC to combo those moves together, keeping the enemies afloat. Correct me if im wrong, but i think thats what you're saying.
