I went out hoping to beat my last best time... man was I surprised! I know its a bit more of a lengthy in-car track video - I tried to leave my progress in rather than just showing the best laps! LZMFG.com
Also I suggest you use hard compound tires so fully expose the suspensions flaws adjust it until you no longer under steer and it will give you the grip/drift your looking for. Then go to your grip tires you will feel like your on rails
While this is true, if he plans on running slicks eventually a grippy street tire would still be the best choice. More tire grip will translate to more suspension load fully exercising the geometry/damping.
Hey Adam, nice times out there! The slicks I was running happened to be a set of heat cycled out Pirelli dh compound, I typically run hoosier but just went out to practice that day and the car felt extremely good. Hopefully I’ll see you out there soon and we can do some lead/follow. And I’ll have to drop the 1:12.5 down to keep you busy 😋
You do realize the Porsche also has a full trim, AC, weights around 300KG more, outputs around the same power, a bit more, worse tires for that matter and that he got used to the Evo already, unlike the Porsche, right ? Last time he tracked it he wasn't going nearly as hard as he does with the Evo. The 911s huge rear aero ain't going to do shit either way if you don't really drive it at the max, so scrap that one of your list while we're at it. As great as the Evo might be, there's still a lot of improvement to be made inside the Porsche (that is driving wise) to say the Evo is better than the 911.
I believe if you bought both cars right off the showroom floor and took them straight to the track, Evo wouldn't stand a chance and if you put the same tires on both cars, drove them just as hard, the GT3 would come out on top. That being said, it's impressive what the Evo can do with someone behind the wheel like Adam, well done man!
He's got a new Evo for his birthday. Y'all really need to keep up with this stuff on his twitter lol. He's definitely got a 6.5 TME and even had a hashtag "timeattack".
A DOT race slick is on average a second faster than a fast 200tw tire like the RE71R on a one minute course. The A052 is faster than the 71R given he has a few laps to put some heat into them. I would also head straight for the A7/R7 if he is leaving street tires. Hoosiers are without a doubt the fastest without going to a non-dot slick.
Adam- "car seems alot happier now though" Evo- "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH also, dont wrap your thumbs. if you hit the wall and you'll break both of them. hard habit to break but the first time you hit a wall you will be thankful lol.
Haha this whole time I'm thinking to myself, this dude puts thousands of dollars into his builds, but wont fix his damn brakes haha. Rudnik is the same way too..
James H I think his evo has ceramic brakes, my evo has them as well. It squeaks very loudly until they warm up. Also a lot of evos have this issue, it’s just the type of brakes
As soon as you know you're going in you should just let go, but I think it takes us all that first time to hit a wall before you consciously think about it. I'm just happy my first wall had tyres in front of it.
Awesome video Adam. Love the detail you go into and your explanations along the way with where you think you can improve/why you're improving. It's great seeing you grow as a driver.
Adam, I would just like too Thank U, for all yr effort in bringing an working on the Best content u provide us, I appreciate U & hope more people tell u this. Cheers
The first lap with the log going u could really see how quick and down to the wire ur reactions and technique is getting. A heap of improvement even just from the beginning to the end of this video. Yet again, we’ll done Adam:)
I love watching and hearing the excitement from Adam when he reaps the benefits of his work on the Evo setup. Very Solid setup. So keen to get back out on track in the cars after COVID
That evo looks like it’s glued to the ground, I love the evo’s there such cool cars but are hard to find, ive wanted one ever since I watched the top gear episode where he test drove it and beat so many super cars! They are a beast
Bro that Evo looks so quick on track.U got some track driving skills also.Being from the UK i do like watching u do some of the more technical track stuff over the drag stuff.Awsome track toy keep it up dude!✌🏼
Fantastic video Adam. Exactly why I love track day driving. Racing against yourself, checking the car, tweaking and going out again and again... Bliss...
I love these Grip driving EVO build videos, it reminds of when I would spend hours in Grid trying to beat my lap times, Its probably my favorite car of yours as well.
hands down, the EVO is my favorite car you have. Just love the sound and look of it. the Porches is next. great video Adam. Hope you break the track record.
NGL I kinda wish you played with the active yaw control that this car came with from the factory... get familiar with the old tech appreciate the reasoning behind it . Then rip it out and go to town on it 🤖🤘🤘🤘
@@AdamLZ I can imagine it starts messing with your inputs aswell at this point. Your insane bro,, try hard tires to really Taylor your setup you will be at 1:10 in no time when you go back to softer rubber
I love these videos. Florida guy here. Iv been a dsm head since 2001. Still have my built 1g dsm drag car. I just Picked up a evo 2 gsr. These cars are special. Totally different beast then my dsm that feels like a gt car and handles like shit. I already threw on an exhaust and turned up the boost as high as the stock fuel can handle. The car has some r888rs, cusco sways and Taiwan special coil overs. Very good info on tire temp in your past videos as well. Looking forward to getting it sorted out and seeing what it can do on 205 width tires. Hopefully I will be getting some 16s and bigger tires, but the ce9a doesn’t take to well to wide tires. The 2650lb weight should help. Keep doing what you do man. Lots of evo 123456 guys in the USA. We do things differently than the rest of the world concerning set-ups and this info is very valuable.
I had 255s on my VI and it will destroy your guard liner haha. Love your Evo content! You made so much progress here with new set up and pushing yourself! Congrats 😀
Love the pedal cam really shows how much work you’re really putting into driving. Definitely would be cool to have if you can figure out better placement for it.
@@jamesh1402 actually haven't given it much of a listen to be honest. I listen to constellations all the time but metal/metalcore stuff isn't all I listen to. Gonna check it out soon though.
It’s the composition of the pads there probably full metallic pads which are going to squeak no matter what my evo X had them from the factory and they squeaked with not even 50 miles on the car
Man you are just naturally talented behind the wheel you could be a racecar driver in any form lmao I think it’d be cool to see you really get into the rally stuff this next winter
So cool seeing you progress with everything! Love seeing you get braver lap by lap, Faster Lap by lap! and Happier Lap by lap!! Killing it bro! get that 113! then the 111 :D
Glad youre really getting into grip racing. The firm looks like a great course. Definitely more street vibes than a limerock or tsukuba. Keep it up man set that fucking record!
No doubt, you will own the track record with slicks Adam!!!!!! Hell yeah, runner on in their with them slickaroonies an the record will be yours!!!!!God bless from Kipp an Karen from Tampa,Fl
