I don't know about that. I see so many female faces that are considered highly attractive that if her hair was cut, she would look like a normal guy. It's especially visible in siblings (twins or not) that the face is "the same" (as in highly similar - they are siblings/twins after all) but somehow longer hair and some make up makes her attractive to guys where "the same" face of her sibling doesn't attract men.

Alexander, very good points! BUT the only reasonable way to rate looks (for women and men) is as an average. By definition a woman who is a ”7” is way above average, which is ”5”. For men the same applies.

11:53 tbh, I have tried asking out those types of women, thinking they would be more loving, caring and affectionate and be less shallow and superficial as a whole, and be more accepting of an ugly guy (like myself) as well. But I couldn't be any less wrong lol. Many of the most humiliating rejections I faced were from these women(not judging them entirely based on few but they aren't necessarily going to be more virtuous and good just because they are plain looking in comparison to average)

the really big hole in the theory, that evolution makes women pretty, is the fact that both men and women are born of the previous generation. So if men didn't chose the bottom 10% of women in terms of looks, and pretty women were more likely to bear only daughters, the for every generation we would be seeing a steady drop in number of male babies. Such theories, that women are inherently beautiful are reinforced by social media, which makes a virtue of lying to women about their actual attractiveness.

This video is really great. I agree that women are generally more attractive than men. It makes perfect sense that men's evolution would not put physical attractiveness as a top priority. I do disagree that women will never experience what it's like to be invisible. Old women are invisible, or at least, much more close to an average young man in invisibility.

Women place more emphasis on appearance because they are not particularly good at anything else. If she cant compete in most fields with men, she tries to excel in those that men do not dominate. Not to mention that being beautiful tends to generate more attention and more free stuff, aka she wont have to work or work less.

I disagree that women are more attractive than men in general. If you exclude the sexual attraction towards women from men, and women's makeup plus clothes and high heels; I believe that from esthetics perspective a very good looking, tall, chiseled man is better looking than a beautiful woman. I am straight by the way, in case someone wants to make a weird comment. Every time I see a really good looking guy in the gym with great physique, I am in an awe. Women in a gym look lame without all of their above mentioned accoutrements. On top of that, good looking masculine men carry themselves with certain type of charisma, which adds to their attractiveness. Just look at some of the best athletes. I will say it again, if you exclude the sexual attraction (mine is slowly going down at 49 years old - thus I believe I am more objective), women are lees attractive! Also, they age faster, and they are more obese than ever.

This makes sense. I have a very pretty aunt and she has 3 beautiful daughters my 3rd cousins. Also a woman who is a friend of the family has 2 pretty daughters 15 and 5. Makes so much sense and yet my sister very pretty has only 1 daughter and 3 sons.

Of course women are more aesthetic. For thousands of years they've been selected for aesthetics. It's a dark story to tell, but I've heard 2nd hand stories (from the granddaughter) of women under WW2 Japanese occupation developing strategies to make themselves physically unattractive to avoid 'involuntary intercourse'. I doubt that story is even the slightest bit novel in human history. Men have always had to demonstrate achievement. Whether in battle, labour, or intellectual pursuits they've always had to work hard, and win at some level - even if it is simply to survive battle and subject a captor to involuntary intercourse. Stephen Hawking was attractive to multiple women, fathering 3 children. Though it appears they may have been conceived before the disease ravaged him. I simply can't imagine a wheelchair bound 'Marie Curie' with that kind of success.

I think the point is women are rightfully hurt when a man call them ugly, because they know that's the main criterion for them. Probably that's why the woman who gave a 4 to the guy didn't feel too sorry for the guy, because she knows a man's beauty is not so important for women. In my opinion men are beautiful. Women are beautiful too. More precisely: the healthy human form is beautiful. Btw. Maybe it's a cultural difference but I can't relate to the female experience of being judged by my looks primarily. I feel that the way I interact with other people is far more important. I feel women nowadays tend to concentrate so much on looking at other women & rating them against themselves that it would be natural that they would feel this way. Nah. Women aren't more physically aesthetic than men from a structural perspective. (Artist and sculptor here) they simply focus on improving their looks more than men do, and consider how they look with these enhancements (like makeup) how they actually look. If you take both men and women fresh out of the shower, no makeup etc, men are generally the same or better. A lot of men simply don't do anything to improve their aesthetics. If a man eats well and works out, he can climb the aesthetics ladder higher than a female of the same genetics can. Look at the Face Ap data. Most women wouldnt date the male version of their face, but most men would date the female version of their face.
