A quick correction to the asexuality thing - sex drive and sexual attraction are separate things, asexual people can still have a sex drive and lack of sex drive doesn't mean that a person is ace

I was married to a man (I identify as gay) and it was truly stifling, to the point that I am still pretty traumatized. I agree with your advice! I have a lot of friends who are bi/pan and have experimented while still in their het relationship BUT I will say, the ones who stopped doing so (or found it difficult to do while in an open relationship because not everyone wants to deal with that) spent years wishing they could still be with non male cis folk 🤷‍♀️ it's all they talk about. They wouldn't leave their male cis het partner, especially after years together, but you can sort of tell they would have been with girls more if they'd known. I'm 32 now, haven't dated in 6 years - it gets hard to find a partner as I get older. So I'm not saying I "wasted my life/youth" by being with a man, because I had to come to my own truth in my own time, but I did sort of waste my youth. I didn't listen to what I wanted, I listened to what other people told me because I had had baby at 17. That baby is 15 and I've given up finding a wife or even just a fling because time .... it may just be a construct, but it's not often kind. Do whatever you want, and if that means making hard choices, still do whatever you want! The only person I know who didn't end up really having their wish to experience girls and nonbinary folk tear them up was my ex best friend, and she now chases boys even though she is married and her husband doesn't approve, but begrudgingly allows since they are married with kids. My point? Girl, guy, they - if you're wanting to experience other people, you will always want to. Staying with someone who isn't enough for you for LONGER will not fix your urges. Do what is best for you.

I assume you're a man by the fact you want to tell me my sexual orientation 🤦‍♀️ that's why I say I identify as gay - because regardless of what people say about me, my identity matters. It is all that matters. When you have been with a man before they tell you that you can't be gay - if you have not, they say that you should try "it" before deciding. Either way, people will always argue my sexuality. And I will always be strong enough to know anyone trying that hard to convince me is not at peace with themselves. That is not my problem. Good luck with that And Michael, no. Not what my point was ..... he said he was open to me being into girls but he wanted me to "turn" bisexual so he didn't have to lose me. Eventually he figured out I never would, and he allowed me the divorce I asked for 2 years prior and he denied me. It is a personal decision if someone in a relationship wants their partner to be physical with someone else - I've been in poly relationships and mono ones. Many men use the fact girls like girls against them, to get threesomes or freedom of their own to explore and that's on them but I find poly and open relationships too much drama. I will never date someone polyamorous again, the male counterpart always gets weird about it (and greedy). It is very rarely altruistic when a male encourages his partner to explore women. Just facts from my life 🤷‍♀️ to each their own. But I respect people who want a monogamous relationship. This idea that girls don't count (when it comes to cheating) is damaging to the queer community. I absolutely count and so I see both sides. I think it's wrong when girls go after a girl in a relationship thinking it is any less bad than a guy doing it 🤦‍♀️ if it's an open relationship or poly, fine, but your comment gives vibes to me that remind me of that phrase popular awhile back "eatin' ain't cheatin'" and that doesn't pass the vibe check. I also don't agree with undermining men who want a monogamous relationship! That is valid - monogamy is valid, it is just not always best for the growth of the woman to stay with a man if she has a wish to spread her wings, like OP says. The solution isn't always poly/open. There are so many reasons people choose monogamy, including sexual health ALONE which is a good enough reason in my opinion. There are infections that are becoming incurable that used to be fixed with a single dose of pills so I don't think wishing more men wanted open relationships is fair to those men who choose to live their own lives in peace they chose

The ‘Rona pretty much made me realize that some of the social groups I was in wasn’t what I needed. I’ve allowed myself to explore my gender and sexual identity. And that exploration has allowed me to be more comfortable in my skin. I think I’m bi and trans.

Being forced to isolate made people that were hiding something from themselves face the things they were burying in work and busy-ness. If not glbt-related, things like "I need to end this toxic relationship", "I have a drinking problem", etc. I've seen so many people transform, and a few self-destruct.

One way I differentiated gender envy from attraction (note that I'm demisexual so my experience may be different) was by picturing myself AS whoever I had envy with. I have gender envy with a lot of fictional characters and it realized it also comes down to roles and the energy of being like them. To see if any of it was attraction, I imagined being WITH that person. I hope that makes sense to some people. The old "put yourself in their shoes" trick might work folks...

Ughhhh those moments when gender envy & attraction line up together. Generally speaking, for me, most of those folks are closer to androgynous than I am and that's my own *personal* goal bc that will make me feel better. But yeah. I've finally kinda figured out that my attraction to men is only aesthetic attraction & sometimes gender envy & not actually romantic or sexual attraction. Which is, like, a BIG realization since I've only ever been with men in the past & now I'm like... "well... I'm 26. By the time I'm ready to date again, I'm gonna be 29. Are there really gonna be any queerfolk willing to date me and be my "first" for a lot of things?" Lol. AH. I don't need that stress on top of everything else.

I get confused mostly with people in the community in general because they think I identify as they/them and that I have a masculine energy but truthfully I identify as a plain ol' she/her lesbian and I just don't dress feminine in public, ever. However, when I play out scenarios with my doll named Medusa, we're both playing very feminine roles (it feels safe with my doll because she can't have judgement as physically she is an object but psychologically she is someone to me). When I try to explain to people I'm just a lesbian they look at me like I'm lying to myself; is being a plain ol' lesbian no longer a thing? I get that I'm tall and I wear loose fitting clothes and I don't talk to people in a bubbly way or with a high pitched voice. I suppose I don't truly want them to know who I am by appearance but it's still frustrating at times. Also, I'm very introverted so I don't interact with the community, this is the first time I have in a very long time. Edit: I had a girlfriend once who wanted to call me Daddy: which again, it doesn't make sense to me. She could have just asked to call me Mommy instead.

I want to say something about the "pan person"'s situation since I've been there😌 I think you gave good advice, Keara, and that they shouldn't be so hard on themselves and their potential future- BUT if you are with that man and you got a feeling that something is wrong and you are somehow miserable, maybe go further into that and try to be true and kind to yourself. see, for me gender envy can absolutely come with an impulse to be close and an attachment to their personality 😩 it's like a "this style, this appearance, this way of carrying yourself, of talking or thinking or whatever else, I jive with that and wanna be a bit more like that PLEASE TEACH ME HOW DO YOU DO IT?" kinda vibe. and I get that's not always ideal, or a constructive way of thinking, but it's how I experience gender envy a lot, and so that makes it really difficult to distinguish it from attraction 😅 like girl, do I want you in me or do I want to be inside your skin, being you? I'm really grateful for this video. however, what to do when the "feel the vibe" doesn't work with you? when you're paralyzed approaching the person you like to the point where you avoid looking at them? for me it's really inconceivable to "follow your instincts" or just "flirt" because I'm too afraid to violate personal boundaries. Also phenomenologically it seems so WEIRD to me to compliment a person in a flirty way, to "touch their arm", also to kiss... and when you're twenty I can tell you that it's HARD to admit that you never had a romantic or sexual relationship to your crush.

This is a very hard question because it's already hard to tell someone you like them 😅 Maybe first try to find out if she is a) okay with gay people (because you said that you're living in a homophobic country) and b) into girls as well. You could for example ask her if she watched queer eye or if she knows some gay youtubers or singers. And I think as soon as you both know about each other that you accept gay people the step to come out to each other will be much easier and after that telling her you like her will probably also be easier. And if you're both to shy to talk a lot you can totally initiate these conversations over text, it might actually be a lot easier because you don't have to be afraid to see their imediate reaction und you can word everything the way you want to. I hope she likes you too 💕
