wiggins love towns combined have won 1 playoff game as t wolves over 12 years now ....are you guys kidding me?...1 playoff victory....throw in kg and you have 2 playoff series wins ever and both in the same year...they have 1 playoff victory since 2004 ended...even the kings have more...they have been the worst franchise...the kings have had injuries talent..the t wolves breed failure
If lebron didn’t decide to bless the cavaliers and come back, they would’ve had 3 first overall picks (Wiggins, Bennett, kyrie) and likely would’ve missed the playoffs lol
Dude man, we forget the t wolves having the worst record in ‘92 but missing out on the first two picks and being stuck with Laetnner. Who went first and second? Only two HOFERS Shaq and Mourning. T wolves draft day mess ups by their own doing or blunders through the years is hilarious. No other team in any sport has as many mess ups imo
@@martytu20 hes currently averaging 20 points hes been better at shooting and he has become a better playmaker yea ik his scoring didnt go up but hes sharing the ball with KAT and hes way smarter with the ball out there
I just found this channel. I appreciate the research and attention to detail. This was so well done my brother, I am about to binge all of your videos. Ball is life!
Nobody thought he was gonna be this amazing. And in the beginning of his career he really didn't look that great. Minnesota would have traded him as soon as they realized he wasn't an instant superstar.
@@Ryan-vi2qy bruh averaging 44pts on blake griffin. And carry his team davidson in college. Lebron, kd and westbrook watching curry in college because we was hooping.
The Jimmy Butler trade made me done with Minnesota. I've been following them since 08, and after the love era ended, they had several athletic wings who could shoot, with one of the best bigs in the league and a flashy, gritty, pass first point guard. These guys gave up a light skin Mamba in Lavine, gave away Ricky for an older and more expensive Teague, blew up the growing bench, and put Wiggins as the third option from being the first, stunting his growth. Insane. A dynasty in 5 years max turned to a team lost in trying to win, or commiting to a rebuild. Their 5 could have been Ricky,(pass first, defensive PG who was developing his junpshot) Lavine(25ppg scorer, jump out of the building athleticism, and a pure and quick trigger shooter) Wiggins(athletic stud, great size, post scoring ability, huge two way player potential and was showing it) Lauri(7 foot stretch 4. Need I say more???) And KAT(energetic, athletic, smart, loud, and crazy efficient scorer) 4 of these 5 will end up making an all-star team in their careers. I've never seen a blunder this bas before. At least OKC gave away their dynasty one deal at a time. Minnesota killed this shit over night. Like what the fuck. Instead of Lauri how about take Murray and let Ricky go? Nope. Now Murray is balling out in sneaky contender Denver and Minnesota doesn't have Jimmy or Lauri. Thibedo killed this franchise, and it will take an entire decade to turn it around.
Love this video! It's crazy to think how much better they could have been even with some of the fringe guys they let walk. If they have Ellington, Bjeilica, and Bogdanovic right now, you can't tell me this isn't a better team
Another important thing to note: Minnesota had 0 luck in the lottery until the Karl Anthony Towns year. The amount of times they had the worst or second worst record in the league and ended up getting a worse-than-expected pick is staggering. They have NEVER moved up in the draft lottery, but have fallen over half the time. Those numbers are unreal.
Haha! First time seeing your face! Great vid! I have been a Timerwolves fan all my life, and don't look forward to the draft anymore because of it! LOL!
Even if wolves select Curry, I don’t think he can be as good as in GSW. Minnesota doesn’t have the vision and patient to wait curry’s consistently injuries
@Ronald Mack True, this is supposition based on the relative performance of the Timberwolves with other players they've drafted. They didn't ship them all off too soon, but few of them played their best in Minnesota.
Appreciate your vids LOW but remember hindsight is a dangerous thing if these teams had it then only a handful of teams would rule the NBA also the draft is just gambling, play the odds
As a Wolves fan, it's really hard looking back and trying to comprehend all the draft & trade deals that the Wolves did. How many times can you use your draft pick and then immediately trade that pick for pick from a team lower down the draft order? or for a pick the following year? or for cash without getting anything in return? Maybe they just need to try actually trusting their amateur scouts to find the "best available player" since the Pro Scouts seem to be absolutely terrible.
I'm a huge T-Wolves fan and this video is bringing up some bad memories lol. I read an article a few years ago talking bout why the Wolves didn't draft Steph in '09 and it said Dell Curry, Steph's dad, told the Wolves to not draft his son. so that took away the pain of us not drafting Steph cuz if we did it would've been an Eli Manning situation for us lol
As a lifelong Twolves fan, I can whole-heartedly agree that we are perhaps the worst drafting team in history. Something that may also be worth mentioning though is that we are also -17 all time in the NBA lottery, and my knowledge are the only team in history to have NEVER MOVED UP.
As a Twolves fan that argued with other T Wolves fans on the last video with the Kings thank you for this video LOW love the squad but god the choices 🤦♂️ Minn lucky the Kings exsist
Wolves are doing worse than Kings this year. Kings have been injured. Wolves have been far healthier. Kings will surpass their playoff drought unfortunately.
adrian copeland how many rings does westbrook have again? He couldn’t win a championship on a team with Kevin Durant and James Harden, yet he’s top 50 all time ok
I agree Westbrook isn’t top 50 for me. Yes he averaged 3 straight triple doubles but look at his fg percentage numbers. On top of that look at the number of wins in the playoffs he has had since KD left
I agree. Westbrook is not top 50 all time. He's good but not top 50 all time. I think only younger people or people who don't know the history of NBA basketball, think that. Prisoners of the moment. I'd take so many guys over Westbrook, in a heartbeat. He has the skills but i think he lacks a certain level of basketball IQ, just like James Harden. And his shooting % is horrible.
I appreciate the research he put into this and all the videos he found to illustrate what went down. My only gripes are that the Wolves were NOT forced to trade KG, he totally ignores RoCo and Culver as an end result of the Jimmy trades and Russ is probably a top 50 all time player but I don’t think it’s a consensus.
Well, this coverage is better than the others now; because it includes the narration and the background story of that era, pick-by-pick for every year. See the difference? Nice work, well done...
Was Rubio so disappointing for a 4th draft pick? They renewed him for significant money. Rubio is one of those players that look much worse looking to his stats, as he really is. He makes his teammates to play much better and you could see he had the best +/- of the team most of the times, even over Kevin love. Except when he was recovering from an injury, which happened a lot. Whenever he is healthy, I'd argue he is a top10 PG without any doubt. PS last thing, Rubio was exciting to watch, the only reason why I watched Timberwolves matches. And that's good for a team.
Love the content. Long time subscriber and fairly consistent viewer. But you said around the 3:25 mark that Jokim Noah was arguably the best at his position in 2014. The 2nd straight year that the Spurs made it to the finals, and even an almost out of the league Tim Duncan was the best big man in the league without there being even close to an argument about it. Even though I would accept the premise that Noah was a top 5 big man at the time there is no way with his offense that you could honestly think he would have helped the T-wolves into even an 8th spot in the west. Come on man
@@ShouldBePracticing westbrook shpuld not have won the mvp that year anyway. Harden had closely similar stats while have a far better record. His triple doubles are also pretty overrated seeing as he had plenty of uncontested rebounds and had turnovers half the amount of assists.
The Twolves has always been a poorly run, underachieving franchise. They still suck and probably always will. Very poor management during their entire existence.
Trust me man, as a Wolves fan. No one is going to criticize you for your take on the Wolves draft picks... We lived it, could not understand it at the time and still suffer for it. Add to it Flip damn near drafted Okafor.. Although the Butler trade did net Malik Beasley, Juan Hernangomez and a few other young players who may or may not pan out as they used Covington who they received for Butler to get those deals done. But the rest of your take is painfully spot on.
Saint Dockery I mean numbers are everything, but I could name a good amount with better numbers for a longer time. Oscar, MJ, Lebron, Kareem, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Karl Malone, Durant, and Wilt have all put up better numbers. Now these might not be the top 10 players of all time because numbers are everything. Magic, Bird, and Bill Russell are easily better, but because of their accomplishments
I could feel your pain man, I lived since 2016 and it's a crying shame they made 1 playoff appearance since 2004 and they barely made it too going down to that last game of the 2018 season.
If you look at Rubio in Utah and Phoenix, I think it's clear that Minnesota did not select bust players only, but they clearly lack the ability to develop players, even if they got potential
Also in 2000, Kevin Mchale tried to give Joe Smith an under the table deal to beat the salary cap, but the league found out and took away 4 1st round picks, meaning Kevin Mchale had effectively given KG a death sentence as long as he was in Minnesota
