Welcome to Krissy's Over The Mountain Crochet. Creating Crochet Chemo Caps has become a passion of mine. More about my story later. Links to more chemo cap tutorials down below.
Free crochet pattern for this chemo cap is found at the link below.

1. I used Lion Brand Coboo yarn. This yarn is lovely and soft for someone going through chemo therapy.
2. I will show you how to make the crown bigger, if the diameter of the crown is too small.
3. The Peekaboo Ridge stitch is easy to crochet.
Chemo patients can sometimes have a sore scalp. Losing the hair can make it tender. Their skin becomes sensitive to the cold as well. Certain yarns can irritate the skin of those chemo. I believe that Lion Brand Coboo is best for a chemo cap.

I started my journey fighting Breast Cancer in October of 2021. I decided that when I was well, I wanted to create beautiful and functional chemo caps. I hope you enjoy this tutorial. I am here to help you if you need. It would make me so happy if you used this video tutorial to crochet chemo caps to donate to your local Cancer center.
It was so good to have you on my side of the mountain. I hope you will come again soon.
God Bless,
Kris

Very pretty. Love the fp and bp edging. I use that a lot on my ponchos And other items. Give a nice finished look. Thank you.

I just finished this hat and I’m very pleased at how it turned out. I used 2 strands of fingering. I did have a few issues with keeping my stitch count; somehow I always have problems counting my stitches…I never know if I’m actually counting the ch 1…. Also the join line is not straight…probably due to my stitch count. Sometimes I added a stitch or decreased to get the correct stitch count. All in all, it turned out nice. I did go down one size crochet hook for the last 2 rounds plus for the ribbing so that it would fit snugger on my friends head. I made this as a gift for her. Thank you Krissy for answering my questions on Etsy. 😊

You sound like you did exactly what you were supposed to do. Great job. The seam line will have a curve to it, and there isn't anything wrong with that. It's part of a handmade hat. If you want a strait line, then an easy fix would be to turn at every round, then it would be easy to miss stitches, and it would create a different look. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

I always wondered what happened to Ramey after the Air Force Base was no longer there. I have very fond memories of living there. Thank you for sharing that with me. Do you live close to Ramey?

Thank you for your clear instructions. I am a beginner crocheter. I have finished the Peekaboo Ridge hat, but I have some dumb questions. In the video, your measurement was not what you wanted, and you added a line which added stiches (96). But the rest of the video kept saying 88 - I finally figured out it should be the 96 all the way. 1. Was that right? I was having trouble keeping the 96 stitches so mine ended up being 98. 2. The join stich for the peekaboo rows I had issues with making it look right. Would you show a photo of the join lines so I can see if I did it right? 3. How did you end the project? I am assuming a slip stitch and then sew in the ends. 4. As I am crocheting and looking at the project is that the outside or the inside of the finished product? 5. When you measure to find out how you're doing in the beginning of the project and the piece you crocheted has more inches than the pattern shows - then how do you correct that?

Those are good questions...the photos I refer to are in the Facebook conversation that I sent in reply. I am posting the answers here as well as others may have the same questions. 1.Answer...if you ended up with 98, then that is totally fine. It's an even number and works with the peekaboo stitch. 2. There really isn't a significant line to notice. Here is a tutorial on how to execute the peekaboo ridge. Not sure if this will help or not.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ssdbH2OWdY.html Here are two photos that show the join line of the sc rounds and the peekaboo stitch rounds. There really isn't a noticeable line, since the last stich goes into the first stitch of the round, at the last round of the stitch. Notice the circled sc rounds and the circled peekaboo stitch rounds. 3. yes...join w/slp st and weave in ends. Here is the written pattern that is free on my website and if you would like an ad free pdf the links to purchase it are there as well. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2022/10/peekaboo-ridge-crochet-chemo-cap/ 4. you are looking at the outside of the project, this is what it should look like. 5. Go down a couple of hook sizes. Thank you so much for your questions. I hope you found these helpful. I used screenshots to make photos, as I am on holiday. I hope they were helpful. I may be unreachable until I return Thursday May 16th, I hope you enjoy making chemo caps for those in need. It has been a blessing to me to create beautiful chemo caps for those in need. God Bless, Kris

Hi Kris just watched your video through to end. I crocheted with you, just to let you know in the video you put an extra increase row so measurements would be 6 1/4 inches which made 96 stitches so after the peekaboo stitch rounds you said you have 88 stitches but should be 96. Just for video to be consistent with the increases.
@krissysoverthemountaincrochet
Oh thank you! I appreciate that. I will try my hand at editing through RU-vid. A new adventure. Hopefully I can as an instruction overlay.

I’d love to know if you can, not sure it can be done. You can pin a comment with the corrections so it will be the first comment seen.

The top portion of my hat is very flat. Will that resolve with blocking or did I do something wrong with my increases?

Maybe I'm missing something, but your link for the free pattern has a completely different stitch count number per row??

I know what happened...you need to keep scrolling. I am making the large xlarge size in the video. There is a base of 8 sc stitches. There are two sizes on my site before you get to the large xlarge.

I’m trying to make this for a friend who recently got diagnosed with lung cancer. I can’t seem to get the peekaboo row started correctly. I can crochet but I have never gone by any patterns. This is my first attempt at something like this. I don’t think I’m starting off in the right space at the beginning at the row.

Can you explain to me what you think is happening that is wrong? are you coming up short on stitches? Is it looking odd?
@kathyperticarini6276
@kathyperticarini6276 5 месяцев назад
After watching your video for about 50 times I realized I was starting in the wrong stitch from the beginning. I probably could have made hats with all of the rows I have taken out. But I have it now and think my friend will be happy with the hat. I’m going to be making more hats to donate to the cancer center. Thank you for your video and replying back to me. 😊

I’m making the large cap. In the directions for row 14 is different than what you do in the video. Am I missing something!
