I Made a Custom Hearthstone Expansion!

An ancient Titan Facility within the Stormpeak mountains in Northrend. Was once a powerful stronghold, now left to ruin by the escape of the Old God imprisoned inside it. Now the God of Death holds his captors prison to him, forced to do his every bidding, will you be able to raid this fortress and free the Prisoners of Ulduar?
Over the last couple of months I've been working on this custom hearthstone expansion for fun, and I am really proud with how it turned out! Thanks to everyone who has been keeping up with the set and leaving such nice comments, it means a lot to me!

@@quentind1924 Ah, yea. That would kind of ruin it. Easy fix would be to change the cost of the spells to something like 5 mana though, since you're not casting them anyway.

The card that summons Treeants and buffs your minions would be broken as hell with Osirion’s Tear in Wild, but other than that, really fun set, I love Mech support.

I’m glad you liked the set! And yah Seeds of Hope may be powerful. I justified making it 2 mana because it is a combination of two old 1-Mana cards. Mark of The Lotus & Sow the Soil (if you choose the summon a treant option)

the location having 30 30 in stats is op, so maybe 2durability, so it''s 15? The neutral legendary would be too strong because board clears, so It should be at the end of your opponents turn or at the start of your turn instead. I love the idea of priest secrets (and I kinda like the design ngl)

Someday i will see custom expansion with C'thun. But this look good. How observe actually work ? like dredge ? or something different ?

C'Thun could fit well in a War of The Shifting Sand expansion, and perhaps I'll make one someday! Also Observe works like this, you look at the top three cards of your deck, then you can drag the cards around in any order you want. The Leftmost card becomes the top card of your deck, the middle card becomes the second card, and the rightmost card becomes the third card in your deck.

Funnily enough I did have it be counted the next card your opponent played. But I wasn’t sure what the interaction would’ve been with battlecries. Would they still trigger when the card was played the next turn by the secret? So I simplified it to spell

No play testing done here, don’t think there’s any possible way for me too. For balance I mainly just try my best by looking at the balance of old cards that have similar effects to what I’m making. I know my cards won’t be balanced perfectly, I’m sure a lot of them are too OP or weak, but that is the nature of custom design

Nice, but the most busted card in the whole set is the 1 mana one. Reliable raider, 1/3 that always shows up in your mulligan. Man, you remember just how OP Patches was cause it was being reliably pulled out of deck as a 1/1? That's a nice card for Reno highlander decks, allowing some early game consistency for highlander gimp (but even that is risky since then highlander aggro might appear just from one card) but to give it as neutral as is? I mean nice legendaries, but that card would literally be played in 99% of decks the moment it's printed. It might even get played in over 50% if it was 1/2.

I should point out that sense it says it starts in your Mulligan that means it takes a slot in your Mulligan (just like how quests work) Patches work’s different, he summons himself from your deck, meaning he doesn’t take a space in the mulligan and essentially draws himself.

Don’t think I inspired it haha, I know they have there expansions planned and worked on years in advance. I actually did this theme for an expansion because around a year and a half ago I asked one of the developers in one of their AMAs if we would see the old gods return again and they said there was an expansion centered around one of the old gods that was pretty high on the list. I predicted that the expansion being talked about was Ulduar

I have an immense amount of respect for the designers on hearthstone. I wouldn’t say I am better than any of them, gotta remember these people made Journey to Un’Goro (the best expansion of all time). I am glad you like my set though

Yogg saron is just busted. The start of game is more powerfull than any other start of game card with no downside (except the backfire, but random spells usually tends to be good for you) Also, i cannot wait for trolden be full of turn 2-3 order in the court along with yogg saron. Either with order in the court in your deck or randomly played by the 2nd whisper, its the same result : puzzle box of yogg saron for free/2 mana

I did make Yogg very powerful intentionally. My reasoning for this is that I felt a powerful Yogg especially with such a game changing effect as this one would be very fun to mess around with. Think of it like Astalor/Renethal, the card would certainly be played in a ton of decks because of how good it is, and I think a lot of people would have fun for that meta. Then obviously people would get sick of it eventually and the card would get nerfed. I think the reality is that this is how some cards are designed, I think it is done carefully and only with iconic and fun cards. But still I think making the sets most iconic character of the set who has the most interesting and fun to play mechanic really good, is more fun. Of course you can disagreed, just thought I’d give my thoughts

@@bionicdoor No, I’m sorry, but over 10 mana worth of free spells are not on the same level as five extra health. Hearthstone is random enough as it is, don’t throw in a mandatory random powerhouse card that would warp the entire game around it. That’s just bad design.

@@samuelwilliams9000 You are right they are not on the same level. Renethal and Yogg have very different effects as cards, I only brought him up to show how some cards that have fun effects are pushed in power level to ensure the card is played. This makes a very unique meta that players will remember because there was this really good powerful and fun to play card (much like the Nathria meta was with Renethal). Now I don’t think you can do that with any old card, but I did it with Yogg because he is the main character from the set, and I know for a fact a lot of people would find his effect incredibly fun to play. He’d probably even be reminiscent to old Yogg which people would love. Then much like Renethal, after people are done with him, you nerf him.

@@bionicdoor And how would you nerf him ? He is stupidly strong and game warping. Nothing can make him being balanced except if you completly destroy him by putting 2 or 3 whispers in your deck. I like yogg saron, but a free "mini puzzle box" across the game is too much. And what if the 2 cost spell casts order in the court ? Free puzzle box at turn 2-5

@@quentind1924 I think the nerf would be make him shuffle 5 whispers. I honestly don’t think that’d be as strong as it sounds. You’d get a 1,2,3,4, and 5 cost spell for free sure but they’re coming at random parts of the game, Casting random sometimes useless spells, and those spells are targeting random targets. The card would be so inconsistent and potentially punishing for whoever plays it that it’d likely just be cut for a more consistent card with an actual win condition. Just my personal opinion on the matter, obviously could be wrong and the card could simply just be busted and unfixable, but I think without testing it in game there is no way to truest know.
