I ordered a REALISTIC 3D cake from 1 vs. 5 STAR BAKERY 

The only reason why I know the Doritos is not real is because.. The dorito bag is too full

I’m a cake decorator and I can tell you it’s not switched. More experienced cake decorators cover the boards in fondant because it looks better and more professional, they also do more layers. The one star one isn’t covered, and only has two layers.

Not every place that gets 1 star gets it because the product sucks, it could be the service. Such as always being late, mixing up products, rude employees/owner(s) etc. I know a ton of places with amazing products that just have the rudest people and that's the reason for low ratings :/

I can say it's not switched. Sometimes 5 star bakery ignores our request and does their own whilst 1 star does try to do exactly like requested

that's not a starbucks cup, that's a freakin bucket! i don't think a 5 star rated bakery would make a custom cake like that. so either you swapped both cakes or you got scammed by that 5 star bakery.

Why is everyone so insistent that he switched them? People can rate bakeries for any number of reasons, not just the quality of the product. Do you know how many people rated each bakery? No. If it was 1 star and only one person rated it, that’s probably not the most accurate reflection of the bakery. You never know. And these ratings are so subjective and there will always be the people who go above and beyond to trash establishments in reviews. Don’t assume.

Somebody please tell him that he could also move the camera to accurately show the cakes instead of tilting it and risking it to fall

I do think the cakes were switched but I don't think he did it on purpose... It was probably an honest mistake. But it is kinda weird how he didn't realize this and check to make sure it was in the right order

I thought they must have switched the boxes but once you cut a cross section of the 5 star cake I knew it was from the 5 star bakery because it looked exactly the same as the 5 star cake in your wedding cake video

Maybe the 1 star bakery has really bad customer service but great cakes? So weird they are 1 star, the cake looked awesome! Maybe you or your friend mixed it up

My guess would be that the 1 star is a smaller or newer bakery that's trying to get their feet under them, so they have more time to dedicate to individual cakes. They probably also looked up the source material to try and get it as right as possible, which is why it matched so closely. The 5 star is probably a bigger/busier bakery with less time to dedicate to individual orders, so they had to make it in less time than the other bakery. It may also be a difference in the service at each location, and inspiration/creativity between the two. But I don't think he swapped them by accident. The baking industry is a complex one with a lot of nuances - the people working there are different, their talents are different, and their inspirations are different, as well as time constraints.

As a pastry chef, i can say it's really no much of a surprise.. It doesn't matter how good you are at desserts or how good the bakery is. People who do this kind of realistic cake are more of an artists than anything else. So if you're not an artist, it will look exactly like the "5 stars" cake in the video.

I almost think the higher rated the bakery is, the more "creative liberty" they think they have- like in the birthday cake video the 5 star shop drastically changed his design- so them going for a "cutesy" design and abandoning the requested realistic look doesn't surprise me. Meanwhile the 1 star shop probably tries harder to fulfill requests as best as they can. They don't have the reputation of the 5 star shop, they need to try harder so they do their best.

I feel like 1 star bakery’s are better at recreating real things in cakes and 5 star bakery’s are better at making regular cakes really pretty

The ratings aren’t always about the looks of the cakes it’s usually the taste and materials used

You should call and let the 1 star bakery and let them know that you're a RU-vidr and you have done a review of one of their cakes and if they would like to identify themselves on your video in the comments, that they can, so that your viewers can help bring up their star rating on google reviews. Someone at the one star bakery really did put some effort and thought into their cakes though and they deserve some recognition :)

i love these but i really wish they were formatted differently - first guess which one is the one star & which is the five star - then proceed to blind taste test both options (as shown in the past raphael has had a preference to the one star) & then guess which one is the five star based on taste

Dear commenters, The cakes were NOT switched; you can tell which one comes from a 5-star and 1-star baker by checking the cake itself and the filling; the 1-star one has more uneven cake and a TON of filling between layers, very common in more "homey" bakeries, whereas the 5-star one has more even icing and layers, like is taught in a professional cooking school. Furthermore the 5-star one has much higher quality fondant. These cakes were not switched, the 5-star baker just screwed up. I'm willing to bet the bakery had a bigger order to fill, like for a wedding, and handed this cake off to an intern or new hire. This just goes to show that just because you have higher quality materials and ingredients, that does not always mean you'll end up with a superior product.

Every comment is about switching the cakes, but you know what? Google rating is garbage, just look at Google play and 5-stars here (shitfest like: didn't play the game, but here you have 5 stars)... "the 1-star" here can just be small bakery with passionate bakers and 5-stars big one with lots of fans

If you didn't actually mix them up (on accident or for views) you should ask for a refund. That cake was ridiculous. At least let them know, their quality wasn't living up to the price.

Stars are just some numbers... Sometimes you find the most delicious cakes in low stars bakeries... And not that tasty ones in higher stars ranking bakeries... Doesn't matter if you mixed the cakes or not... The point is a fact

I really don't think they're switched. if you've watched other cake videos of him you can see 5star bakeries are just over priced and doesn't really deserve their prices taste-wise. it may sound cheesy but I feel like 1star bakeries put more effort into their cakes and love making them! they generally taste better too! 5star ones are just for people who love to show-off and who are more interested in name/brand than the taste. well, at least that's my opinion.

The 1 star vs 5 star is solely off of Google ratings. These ratings are based off the people who actually choose to review, which is normally when people aren't happy. So the 1 star bakery could very well have 3 ratings with all of them just complaining where the 5 star has 200 ratings and they all range in type of review. Businesses will also take accounts and rate their business to increase rating. This rating could be totally different than the rating on Yelp or through the BBB. I think you guys are taking the 1 star vs 5 star title wayyy too seriously when in reality we have no idea how the business is actually ranked. Also, the 5 star bakery could very well specialize in wedding and traditional cakes where the 1 star specializes in realistic and 3D. That would also explain why people would leave more critical reviews on the 1 star, because they were expecting something like they see in viral videos and left extreme reviews. Anyway, immediately coming for him and claiming he is switching the cakes and calling him a liar is ridiculous, imo. Maybe he is, but from what I've seen, there's been plenty of times where the 5 star place did much better than the 1 star. And I'd imagine these bakeries are aware of his videos by now. I'd assume someone would see this and would say something about him claiming the wrong cake as theirs. Either way, settle down kids. It isn't that deep.
