You've done it now, Lor. Sandal Lolitas are the future. They're gonna call themselves Summer Lolitas or Beach Lolitas or something. Stain their dresses with sand and surf. Some will wear socks with their sandals. Some of those socks will be toe socks. Toelitas are manifesting and they are crawling onto the Canadian shore to come and get you.

I think the first piece of advice I’d give to someone I hate would be “sure you can order that XS size dress from Japan, Japanese sizing is just the same as American it will fit fine”

Lolita challenge idea: make "cursed co-ordinates" i.e. a co-ordinate where you try your best to make it look nice but you HAVE to include one cursed item (socks and sandals, a terrible tiny top hat, etc)

Hearing you talk about AP's size inclusiveness (as in, lack thereof) is actually really comforting. I bought an AP Dreamy Planetarium JSK from lace market that was marked as "plus size friendly" as my first ever lolita dress, and it looked like a dress style that could fit anyone if done right (it was high waisted and free flowing), EXCEPT, in areas that should have stretched they put non-stretchy lace, AND the bust was ridiculously small so like,,, no bust could fit in it? I'm sure it can fit someone just not me, which was super demoralizing. BUT! i'm going to keep persuing my lolita dreams... just a lot slower and more carefully

Oh my god your intro gives me retail flashbacks. I managed a collectables/toy store for over a decade, and I heard every ridiculous story and excuse you can think of. The best one was when people would be like "Oh well the guy who works here always gives me a deal" and I'd be like "well there hasn't been a guy working here for over five years and he was fired for stealing, but please, go on."

I like plain, well tailored dresses made from good materials. AP just isn't doing it. I like Boz, Miho Matsuda and even Physical Drop has a few pieces that fit my style.

Agree with OP and the above commenter! I also can't believe the price tag too. Like they have the same pricing as really detailed printed dresses. I would hope that the price tag then is due to AP is paying sustainable living wages to their workers...

I have that wig but I don't use it for lolita, I use it for my lolita inspired Sylveon cosplay. Am working on a lace monstery hime style dress for that cosplay currently so will probably get a different wig for it. I love pulling inspiration from lolita for Sylveon though!

I thought the platform open toe heels were already a thing, no? I clearly remember Baby making some of these years ago. I also think AP's current design choices have a lot to do with the aging demographic. Not that the OG lolitas are getting old, BUT I think they are trying to cater to a market that has "outgrown " the classic and 2010 sweet style. I completely agree that those AP OPs are so "inclusive"...😑 When AP, BTSSB, and AATP decide to release a second size option I feel like some progress will have been made. Meta seems to be the only one on board with this.

Yknow I've been thinking about sandals with lolita since this like "could you actually make that work though with the right type of sandals and the right coord? 🤔" and then IT HIT ME... those iconic vivienne westwood rocking horse sandals with the little wings! i remember those being popular?! i def think sandals could be done really cutely in specific coords, and if theyre the right kind and look good and suitable... even googling "lolita sandals" i think you showed a couple examples that did actually look viable for lolita as well haha. But ya no fuzzy slides in lolita all the way totes perf for this person we are building the coord for 😩👌

For just a second I thought I loved that Astrology Angelic Pretty dress but then I realized what I actually like was being reminded of all those constellation print dresses that Souffle Song makes.They tricked me because I'll go feral for astrology and star prints with metallic details, but the cut and big star appliques feel so disappointing and lackluster next to all the frills and little star buttons and layers of these dresses that cost a fraction of the price on something like Devil Inspired.

with the twin tail wigs ive styled them *for dr ag* in stacking the tails on top of my head making more of a OTT 60's Bridgette Bardot look, so i think you could probably style them super cute especially using the tails as a giant stand to display head pieces on

This made me think, how could one actually make sandals work with lolita? I can immagine those "ballerina flats" with those strappy straps work if they were a bit chunckyer, but those are not sandals. As someone who is not in the fashion I kinda like the main piece, the full dress form, but not that white line on it. It's just not entirely it.(i personally do like those see through fabrics)

not a fan of the sandals, but a similar lighter blouse could go with the dress imo, but maybe not with the big bow cause theres already a small bow on the dress. Maybe a smaller bow at the top instead? I am a fan of big bows, just not that one with that dress. the wig would look cute, and maybe the socks too if the blouse was a different color. Head dress would be a no for me personally. Maybe the flowers for the spring. Pardon, this might not be your taste, but it is a wway to make the outfit more passible for me persoanlly?

Omg! I am not confident enough to try lollita (admire it from afar though), but I remember someone seeing a cosplay pic and she basically demanded to borrow my wig for some booze up party. Needless to say, since it was a lace front and perfect for the cosplay I'd made, I said Jo and explained that it wasn't a cheap wig and let her know where she could find wigs to buy in the nearby city. She was vile to me about it. 🙄
