As a black man I could care less. I respect the developers for sticking to their vision. Everything doesn't have to be politically correct. Now that I think of it, I spent over 320hrs playing The Witcher 3 and I don't think there was one black face in the whole game and that's okay. I still loved the story and can't wait til Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.

as a woman who loves Medieval history and fantasy I get so angry when these virtue signaling ignorant children have to ruin everything because they can't mature enough to understand people are flawed, in different times we had different moral codes that looking back now we can certainly pass judgement on but we should never rewrite history or misrepresent it so as to "not offend". There are hardly any people of colour living in Bohemia now, let alone at the beginning of the fifteenth century. I grew up in Prague (the capital of Bohemia) and I saw a first black guy with my own eyes when I was, I think, over 15 years old.

If it's a period piece about 15th century Europe, its not a bunch of black folks running around so not having black people in it doesn't bother me. If it's a movie about a gay bar shouldn't a majority of the characters be gay?? If you're telling a story about a WW1 company that didn't have women why should storytellers add women if they weren't there??

I love how Kingdom Come: Deliverance is "racist" because it doesn't represent black people when it is in an almost completely white population, yet Black Panther is wonderful and culturally significant for effectively not really representing white people.

On the question of representation for 'non-whites'. Im going to mention something that people on both sides of debate never seem to talk about, much to my frustration. Has anyone asked people of colour whether they want to be injected into such games and books? The left claim they are speaking for people of colour. But as person of colour I assure you they arent speaking for me. I dont need to see people with my ethnicity injected into a historical piece before I can enjoy it. As a fan of historical it would ruin the piece for me. I still can't get over what morgan freeman is doing in the robin hood movie. What is their evidence, what surveys can they quote that suggest people of colour are annoyed they arent included in this game? What gives them the right to speak for me? And why dont those challenging them, for example the people in this video ever seem to realise the Left have no mandate to speak for us. By not doing so and intercutting images of black guys crying 'thats racists' i can only assume these guys think they do speak for us. In this regard the left have succeed in pushing race and stoking racial animosities, in this case by using a historical game. They are simultaneously the fire starter who then turn up posing as the fire brigade. Meanwhile the right always seem to play along and never short circuit the narrative by simply challenge the left to produce evidence of dissatisfaction, in this case allegedly coming from people of colour because of not being 'represented' in a game.

I mean, black people in central, eastern and northern Europe were so rare at the time that there definitely would be record of it. For example, Germany had a black man in it around that time. That doesn't mean 15th century Bohemia had any and I'd personally trust the named Czech historians, who focus on their own history rather than the unnamed one Eurogamer turned to who was probably talking about Europe as a whole. For context in Black People in Europe, my country of Finland had it's first black person at the end of the 19th century. We know this because there is extensive records of it and people actually traveled just to see her. This was about 500 years after the game takes place.

That makes me want to buy and support the game just because some idiot said that.

A totally overblown subject with that game, because it is just historically accurate, nothing more and nothing less. I think when you try to make everyone happy at the end no one is truly happy.

Even if it was, it was set in 1403 for god's sake. Of course women weren't represented as equals. Because they WEREN'T back then. It's just historically accurate. Plus I find Theresa (a female NPC you find early on) a strong character who is really interesting. Also what would be worse? No black people in the game or a black person in the game represented in the way they would have been in 1403? Which would have been shunned or slaves or victimised.

Best games are not politically correct. Just look at Wolfenstein, KCDeliverance and Witcher. On the other hand, look how CoD WW2 sucks so hard.

Oh but the black panther movie with an isolated xenophobic advanced technological super state within an impoverished continent is just amazing. Just saying these people that say this kind of stuff are complete hipacrits when they have their own agenda to push as we saw with the ghostbusters movie aswell.

At this time there were perhaps 10 dark skinned people in the whole of bohemia. People of darker skin color didnt really show up in europe before the late 1600s to 1700s, and that was for the most in countries like spain, england and france which were colonial powers

For fuck's sake, the darkest you could probably get around that time scale would have been some travelling Moorish merchant from Iberia setting up shop in Prague. Kingdom Come Deliverance is set up in *rural* 15th century Bohemia. Even in a more urban context three centuries later a single, actually *black* person would have been a monumental oddity.

Funny thing about the "historian" Eurogamer cited, Sean Miller. No one seems to be able to find him. The closest they've gotten is a translator of historical papers, and apparently he's not a very good translator to boot. Meanwhile, Warhorse studios has around 15 professors and pH.ds in their credits, for history alone (add as many specialist advisors, like blacksmithing and clothing). There's a thread over at Kotaku in Action (Reddit). So yeah, Eurogamer seems to have found a dude who agrees with their ideology and called him an expert.

Your Saving Private Ryan analogy is perfect. Adding someone of every gender, sexuality, and race just to make it "pc” would make the point of the story so monotonous and hard to follow. It's a story about soldiers doing what they are told for the greater good. As a trans lady, I do not need some transgender subplot to make that movie fantastic. I LOVE my representation when I get it, but it feels so much better in a story that makes sense. I can't identify with some trans soldier in WW2 any more than I can relate to any other character in that story.
