I love how his cousin did the 'massage' gesture with grabby hands when he should have made a sanding down a plank of wood hand gesture. He knew what he was setting Mark up for, he knew!!
Do you know that the animators for this weren't there when that happened and they just had the cousin make the gesture for the animation's sake, right?
@@annacarozza9812 Also cousins exists for the soul reason of screwing with each other. His cousin knew, ooooooh he knew. The animator might as well have been there.
As someone who used to live in Korea and has visited many bath houses, I can confirm the "massage" experience. I, too, did not know any better the first time around. I thought the lady scrubbing me was literally trying to flay me. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Okay, but did it work? Is it just something that people recommend to have laugh at you, or did you actually feel better afterwards? (Also, I don't mean "feeling better" as in "anything's better than this")
@@Jackie777 these kind of "massage" are for to rub/clean off the dirt(the dark/white thing that comes off your skin aka dead skin cells) on your skin so its more smooth, they have these in bath houses in most asian countries
Having had a "massage" at a Korean bath house before, this is exactly the same experience I had. It's like all those dudes who do the scrubbing learned the same technique of testicular assault
@@Cheesepuff8 The scrubbing is most likely to get the dead skin off, like how after you shower, your kinda damp and you'll find if you rub the damp areas dead skin would collect and ball up. The scrubbing does the same thing but like... painful. Don't know if it actually helps but I think the logic comes from there
@@mnm8065 imagine if this was the reason Korean men look so damn good well up to their golden years. Just testicular torture is the only way to keep your youth 😂
I have a VERY similar experience with my first full body massage, and I think "thorough" is the best way to describe it. Very professional, but WOW. They got EVERY nook and cranny. Not a fan, but I appreciate their hard work and I tipped them well. I still haven't gone back. She asked "soft or rough" and I said "rough please" because my shoulders were shot to hell. IT HURT SO MUCH WHEN SHE WAS DIGGING INTO IT. I said "Owow owow! That hurts a bit." And she only said "It's no good." Later I realized my shoulder pain was GONE, I didn't feel relaxed, but she basically crushed my shoulder pain into submission. Truly impressive work.
Upon listening to this, I remembered when I went to a Korean bathhouse and done the same thing. The ajumma was just as thorough and just as aggressive as Mark described in his experience 😂 I walked out to my boyfriend saying that I feel like I’m a few shades lighter 😂😂
@@Nighterlev well you didn’t even quote it right. They said “I walked out to my boyfriend saying that I feel like I’m a few shades lighter.” Maybe try quoting it right before saying I’m wrong- and yes you do feel like you’re lighter. That’s like saying “I feel like I’m a few shades darker” if you think you got a tan, or “a few shades lighter” if you think you lost your tan. I’m sure they didn’t mean a physical feeling- also when you had dead skin cells, your skin appears darker, so if you clear of those skin cells, your skin will appear lighter in color, and they were possibly exaggerating it because of how thorough the scrubbing was. It could also be referring to the skin color being reddish due to scrubbing.
I’m positive it’s not a fetish he has, more of a strength test. A sort of “Am I strong enough to endure XYZ?” I’m certain he’s not a Cenobite from Hellraiser.
Literally did this not even 30 min ago… my god the accuracy in which mark described everything especially the ball part, I have never felt more pain in that area. Other than that tho the pain felt good idk what Mark’s talking about 💀
At this point, I want Markiplier to hire an animation team because oh my god, this is the most hilarious thing ever. I NEED A CONSTANT STREAM OF ANIMATED DISTRACTIBLE STORIES PLS
I think he did hire an animation team this was animated by tooncee and haricz they are amazing animators couple. I checked they're youtube account and they didn't post this on their youtube account so i think its safe to assume mark hire them animate destractible. Check their youtube account they're amazing!
@@jeanbuck7643 Have you SEEN Mark's Hollywood-like Productions? From his early "Who Killed Markiplier" to his "Mother Loving Warfstache" and his Darkiplier as well as Markiplier in Space. Jacksepticeye is no exception either, even he prefers Quality over Quantity.
As a Korean I can confirm this is a real thing they do in some saunas. They do a good job removing lots of dead skins on your body but mark is right that it burns and it hurts a bit but once your done and you go in the hot tub it feels so satisfying. It may be uncomfortable at first but it’s not a bad thing to do every now and then to remove dead skins.
@@halatiny6537 Nah, your body is always covered in a layer of dead skin. Exfoliating is good for you because it gets rid of dead cells faster. Especially for people like me with oily skin and body acne.
also korean here and mark going through the biggest culture shock of korean bath houses is so funny even though he's half korean 😭😭 never even considered how much more painful it would be for a man to do this massage omg 💀💀
yes, some people look at you like you are about to murder theyre dog and feed it to theyre children if you start shitting youself laughing in most scenes
There's a female only korean style bath house (in America) that me and my mom would go to occasionally before the pandemic and they offered these massages. Although, they are labeled as full body scrubs (they had actual massages too). And while it did hurt at first, afterwards you are literally as smooth as a koalas brain, so, I do recommend if only for the aftermath.
_Smooth as a koala's brain!_ God I love that. Someone else said it removes the dead skin? So it would make sense if you felt smooth after the fact. You'd be healthier, I'd imagine, with all that off.
@@cookiemonsterz413 Yep, koalas are cute, weird little dumb-dumbs. I've heard they can't recognize a eucalyptus leaf as food at all if it's laid down on a flat surface instead of growing out of a tree. They won't even try to grab it, it just doesn't register at all. Which, to be fair, isn't necessarily a situation they'd have to deal with much in the wild, since they usually just stay in the trees, but still.
I've been debating with myself for a couple of days whether or not I should write this, but here goes. My dad died recently due to cancer, and I was certain that I would never laugh or smile again (I know, it's a common feeling when someone close to you dies). It has really taken a toll on me, and everytime I even smiled I was striken with guilt, even when he was still alive, because I didn't want to be happy, when I knew he was in pain. The day before the funeral I was having a hard time convincing myself to go to bed, because I didn't want to. I wasn't ready to say the final goodbye to my dad. Then I went thorugh my notifications on RU-vid, and came across this video. And I laughed. I laughed so hard, that I started crying. I continued to laugh, and rewatched it over and over and over again. And I didn't feel guilty, because it occured to me that my dad would be pissed if he saw me wallowing in selfpity. And it felt like the world kinda made sense again, and it is okay to be sad, but also to laugh your ass off. I went to bed, and slept the entire night. So thank you for making me laugh, when I needed it the most.
I went to an all women’s Korean bathhouse in America and we decided to get the same scrub done- which would’ve been fine if I didn’t just get a fresh new tattoo on my ribs a week prior lol (thankfully I was able to tell her to not touch that spot.) It hurt so good though. I try to go back every year because the other amenities are so worth the price lol.
Massage guy knew it was Mark. Wherever he may be now he has the bragging rights of saying he destroyed Mark's little Mark, lol. My sides are in pain, this is amazing.
This perfectly describes the 'massage' I got in a Moroccan bathhouse. Only the lady that did the 'massaging' was also naked and the whole bathhouse was singing and clapping prior to this 'massage'. Let's just say it was an experience I will never forget 😂
I remember getting one done in a Moroccan bathhouse for the first time when I was young (never been naked in front of a stranger before) but the lady that was scrubbing me wasn’t naked and it was just me and her and I was so embarrassed.😂
As a Moroccan, I can absolutely agree that this is how Moroccan bathhouses are like. EXACTLY just like the one in the video- We got used to it over time though.
Mark is secretly gay or bi confirmed, a real man would be comfortable about his sexuality and not try to convince anyone that he was "straight" anyway.
Bob just absolutely howling in the background during the whole story is totally perfect. Just hearing his laughter echo in the background when he moves away from the mic
So being half Korean I went through this as a child because my mother would take me with her, till I was able to do this on my own I’m to happy she did because every person who has touched my skin has always said you have the most softest skin I have ever felt
I've only been to a Korean spa one time and decided to get this done, and while at first it was unpleasant, once I got used to it I really liked it. I also have never felt as clean since
omg same as soon as he started telling the part about how his balls didnt and would never exist again i started snorting and cackling like i never have before, it was so funny
The best part is, this is probably the exact same technique that was used 1000's of years ago in Korea. Basically it's like visiting the ancient times and getting a "massage"
i had an actual stroke trying to read the korean sign at 4:06 😅 like what do you mean by ”eobngijlitm” 😀 its probably just the sign at the start mirrored but you gotta admit its pretty funny LMAO
as a guy whose visited Korea I can say it feel like the lady scrubbing me was holding some sort of repressed anger against me XD as soon as she told me to turn over my brain no joke said "RIP balls"
I remember listening to that story while working and let me tell you, it took everything I had to prevent me from laughing. I guess my boss saw me cause my face looked like I was gonna burst out laughing and he asked me "What's going on?" I told him "Oh nothing boss, just remembering something funny that happened today." I always look forward to a new episode of Distractable.
So last week while I was in Korea, I went to the sauna and got the massage. Everything he said was accurate. The difference for the women is the older ladies who are doing the massages have on bikinis. Also, the lady was kind enough to ask me “is the towel okay” but if I had said no, I wonder if there would have been another option. Oh and when Bob asked about “was it the same towel” my brain went exactly where marks went. I had the flashbacks to the way mine ended and remembered the dipping of the towel. And I was like “you know what now that I think about it, I think she just dipped it and called me back there. Then just dumped the bowl of water on it and was like ok next.”
I watched this at work, too! Well, actually, I was watching it in the breakroom at work while I waited until it was time for me to clock in. And when I got home from work, I watched it again and I laughed so loud and hard, I had trouble catching my breath!
Oh, let me tell you. I'm also half Korean and when I was around 10, I went to a Korean bathhouse with my mom and grandma, which was all fine and good. After the bathhouse experience, my NAKED grandma starts asking me questions in Korean that I barely understand, and then, after I fail to give an answer, starts VIGOROUSLY SCRUBBING her equally naked grandchild. I had no idea what was going on or why this was happening, and when I pulled away she simply grabbed me and continued to scrub, mumbling about how it was healthy or whatever. It was only after I met up with my mom that I got any kind of explanation...
This may be my most favorite story and animation ever from Distractible! It rivals that of Bob's Fridge. (Hey, Mark, make t-shirts with that. I'd be proud to wear Distractible merch with Bob's fridge on it).
Mark, I am sorry that you have had a very painful experience. What you've experienced is called "Body scrubbing or exfoliation / 때밀이(Ttae-mi-ri)," which exfoliates your bad dead skin from your body which is really far from a massage. I think your cousin did not know how to explain "때밀이" at that time. I am sure it is a strange and unique experience that you can only experience in some Asian countries like South Korea or China. I am curious about what next story behind it! :)
I don't know what it is about this short but every time I watch it I can't breathe. It's like my brain just flatlines. I absolutely adore this short I just need oxygen.

Please remember the animators are credited at the end of the video, mark didn't animate this and the creators deserve the recognition for these incredibly hilarious animations. because they really bring the stories to life!
2:03 I actually got an actual massage while I was in South Korea once and I seriously thought that that lady HATED ME. Like I unalived her pet or something. I wanted to SCREAM hahahaha. But afterwards, I felt like jello. It was a good message lol. Never got a bopdy scrub though. Will have to try one day hahahaha

When my dad was in Thailand, a bunch of guys told him to try out the massages there. So he goes, when he takes his shirt off the lady doing his massage giggles because he's a big, hairy, American guy, but then gets to work. He said it wasn't bad until she went digging in with just her elbows, then it was excruciating. Now my dad is a big, tough Marine who regularly has gone to get adjustments from the chiropractor, has had massages before, he's got a pretty good pain tolerance so for him to say it was painful is something. When he reached his limit, he tried to get the lady to stop, but due to the language barrier she didn't know and kept massaging his back. He had to throw her off his back, he slapped the money down and left. Said he was out of sorts for a week.
I'm going through a very tough time in my life, but who knew a hilarious animation on top of a story about Mark awkwardly suffering would make me laugh for the first time in weeks. :)
He almost describes this story like it's an adult experience he had. Him being undressed, The guy scrubbing him really hard, The cigarette he had after, It had to be intentional.
