Thx for a great video! I just wanted to ask a question. I'm using a D800 and I am trying to get this to work. It works on SU-4 but not remote even when I I follow your steps. Any ideas why? Thx for helping out!
Erik Göransson When you are trying to use remote mode, what cameras settings are you using? Are you using the built in flash as a trigger or hotshoe mounted flash? If using the built in flash you need to go into the settings and make sure commander mode is set for the on camera flash.
Combatpzman Thx for your answer! Yes I'm trying to use the built in flash as a trigger and the setting is set to commender mode. That's why I got a bit confused. On the flash it self I am using the same settings as you show in this video.
Erik Göransson Do you mean you are using the same channel and group as I did, or the defaults? Meaning, If you have the built in flash set to channel 1, Group A then the SB-800 needs to have matching settings.
i'm a new SB-800 user. I see you're changing the flash power, but can you do this if you're not in M mode on the flash like you showed here? I'd be in A priority on my Nikon and TTL flash. How can I modify the power of the flash (1/1) or does it somehow know since it's mounted to the camera? Thanks
If you are using auto metering on the flash you can push the plus and minus buttons to force over or under exposure from what output level the camera thinks the flash should use.
The zoom is automatic, the only reason to use manual settings is if you are using an older manual focus lens with no CPU contacts. If you do need to set the zoom simply hit the right or left side of the + pad.
