Onewheel GT Recall 

FM didn't have a choice on the recall, it wasn't a business decision, other than a "California will shut us down if we don't take action" decision. CPSC validated claims the boards were faulty and filed against FM, where FM had 15 days to respond with a plan to address the situation. This is the result. By the liability laws associated with the recall, all boards that have been received by customers prior to the recall notice are flagged as "meeting the criteria" for footpad replacements, even if they'd been using the updated footpad. Personally, I think this part is silly, but I don't create those laws. Likely, we'll contunue to see defects in the footpads come out which cause issues, as let's face it, the QA/QC changes will likely just be a couple extra checks on a spreadsheet and an additional random sampling for additional testing. When your manufacturing process is pushing out defect rates as high as 5%, and your current QA process isn't finding and removing those, then very little will change. Maybe the manufacturing is closer to 10% failure rate and QA is catching 50% of those.... we don't know, though I highly doubt it. Frankly, until FM really steps up their QA game and also reverses their hardline stance against the Right to Repair crowd, they will continue to remain in the hotseat as a company with some questionable practices, at best. In the meantime, my footpad gets here on Monday, I'll replace it, again, and ride with the suspision that my board will still have the potential to ghost on me. This is why I ride the way I do, for even though Hunter S. Thompson is correct in that none of us get out of life alive, I'd prefer to be reasonably intact when I go.

FM: don't mess with your board, send it to our ONLY authorized repair center. We do this for your own safety! Also FM: here's the defective part that can straight up break someone's leg, install it yourself! It'll be fine. Guess they're not the only authorized repair center when there's no revenue to extort. FFM, VESC all the way.

Technically it's not a recall if they just issue a new footpad sensor. I've seen posts that even with the new footpad sensor the problem still happened. I'm good with my XR.

I bought my GT on Aug 5th and my board arrived at my house Aug 12th and it was on the recall list. I'm a new rider, and this was disappointing to experience.

My GT arrived with a faulty start button and I had to send it back. No ghosting...until 800 miles in or so. Then it happened 3 times, once almost hitting a baby in a stoller in the park. Not cool. I sent FM an email, with pictures. No reply. However the FM recall page worked for me.

Yup, ordered mine from suprents back on the 3rd. Didn't ship until early last week, received on Friday 8/12 and it was affected. I never saw the wordage on the recall notice to stop riding until fixed. I've enabled simple stop until it's fixed.

I followed the link you provided and it worked flawlessly. My replacement footpad is in queue. Thank you for making video!

Good stuff. Thx for sharing your insight as well. I agree Future Motion has poor business practices that warrant an FTC investigation. Claiming the battery can be dangerous when modified, as to try and make all maintenance/ repairs a mandatory in-house repair at inflated costs, while then ignoring an actual safety issue during the product launch and subsequent months trying to keep it under the table

i literally just purchased a gt. i was not eligible for a recall. sending them an email today just to make sure mine has the updated pad. side note: really not enjoying my experience with the board. i fell 3 times on my first ride. granted i was pushing it. the wheel is too hard and is wayy to nimble to have that much torque. the XR, in my opinion is a more pleasurable experience on the road and trails. others put the impression that this is a safer and more stable board. i do not think so. maybe ill change my mind when the enduro comes in and i dial in my preferred psi and mode. should of taken your advice mario. not saying you were not recommending it to others... just for people to be weary about the board and its imperfections. hold onto your XR boys.

If you have a failure to validate the issue is that on your original order they used your zip+4 digit. If you have the email you'll notice that their system added the extra 4 digits to your zip code. That fixed my issue with Failure to Validate.

Thank you for posting this up, man! I was contemplating getting the replacement footpad for mine and considering the fact that it has not ghosted on me (yet), but figured I should get it replaced anyway. Definitely the smartest choice to make.

Had the same error message when I tried to do my recall. What ended up working was entering my full 9 digit zip code and not just the first 5 digits.

I am glad for all of you that actually own one! I am also glad of the confirmation that cancelling my GT order was the right thing to do. Hopefully the accessories and hyper charger that I bought can be used on a version II some time in the future or even better on a refined VESC model of the future!👍🏾🙏🏾

Really glad I got a pint x over the GT, only issue I have is the sensor pad fails to see my converse a lot, but mini furniture felt pads saved the day.

It's possible that FM were postponing announcing a recall until they had manufactured a proper hardware fix for the footpad. Else they may have been forced to refund all the currently sold GTs, which would have been disastrous for the company.

I canceled my order and used that money to be an EUC it is faster and four times the range and well so far I didnt think anything couold top the one wheel but I think it finally met its match.

😬 Your thumb nail is a pic of tha GT on tha top edges of tha trash can 🙄 😔. It really hurts me that tha FM/GT is going thru this. I just started riding last year summer, and just got my GT this past June, and I was very excited about it.. Shit it's my father's day gift, birthday gift, and my Christmas gift.. For tha next 2 years! Yeah I'm 1 of those riders that hasn't had any problems with my GT at all, I ride mines to and from work wearing my big ass STEEL TOE BOOTS! I guess u can say I'm bias to tha onewheel, I want it to do GREAT! 👍🏾

My board ghosted 170 miles in, then I broke my arm about 5 mins later

Pretty done with Future Motion at this point...they need like another 3 years to see if they actually survive. so sad I wish I could get just get my money back and the 6 months of pre-order interest they accrued...

Better late than never, I suppose. Design mistakes happen and it's hard to do at-scale testing until a product releases, but damn they should have sorted this one out right months ago since it's a VERY notable safety concern.

They don't want you repairing your board until they're legally obligated to recall a product to which replacing the footpad is a massive pain in the ass.

I saw a Reddit post saying to try your zip+4 code if you just entered the 6 digit code and it didn't work. You might want to give this a try.

Glad you didn't say the V word, because its not. I am very glad you government has such protection agencies. As for the people who don't know how to operate a screwdriver, what are they to do with a new foot pad?

The GT has another thing faulty about it. The LOW CLEARANCE. Going up hills is scary! Nose scraped and i was sent flying. I understand they need to make it bulkier for the batteries, but it is just way too bulky.
