becuase they change stuff all the time and are totally inconsistent. That's OJas lomng as Mormons are happy with inconsitency. change of stuff they were told would never change, liker the templle stuff, noiw exactly why did they do awaywith the blood oaths and stomach and throat slashing secrecy oaths? This was the original stuff from the foundation , of tehMormon Chruch and even older members remeber this stuff. If you get rid of it, and change it, at least explainint , after everbody snce "forever" did it that way.

In 1990 while on my mission to the England London South Mission, Elder Oaks came and spoke with us. In the concluding minutes of the meeting we were allowed to ask questions of Elder Oaks. Elder Oaks made a ground rule that if a question that was asked was not allowed he would say "Code Red". The questions began and one of the Elder Missionaries got up and asked a questions. He asked "Have you ever seen Jesus Christ?". Elder Oaks quickly responded "Code Red" and said nothing more on the subject. I remember looking at my companion with a holy crap expression, let alone that the question was asked, but that also it was not answered.

Oaks visited my mission in the mid-80s as well. During the Q&A, one missionary asked him that same question: "have you seen Christ?". Maybe it was because of this that he developed the "code red" response he gave to your mission. He gave a fairly long response. The main point being that "we don't talk about spiritual experiences". WTF? Most every talk in general conference, sacrament meeting, and certainly fast and testimony meeting is the retailing of spiritual experiences. But we aren't supposed to talk about them? What you could take from Oak's answer is that he was visited by Christ, but he can't talk about it. That's what most missionaries interpreted his response as. However, he did say a lot of other things which I interpreted as that he was saying that he hadn't seen Christ (I don't remember what those things were, but I was genuinely surprised when most missionaries took his response as saying he had seen Christ). It does seem what this podcast is presenting is on the mark - they try not to lie directly about seeing Christ. But they're happy to propagate the myth that they have.

Just read your comment. In 1990 I lived in Ipswich. Did you serve there? Code Red? Huh? What really strikes me is that the lies, distortion, and obfuscation were on full display, but at age 14 and a "wayward" youth who merely thought of himself as "falling" away, I had no clue.

I was born into the LDS Church ninety years ago. I was the typical brain washed Mormon. By the grace of God , by the time I was twenty two, married and a mother, the scales fell from my eyes. I understood that I was to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He laid His life down for me, He gave me eternal life and wrote my name in The Lamb's Book of Life. The Mormon Church taught a damnable doctrine. " The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathema upon Christ and His disciples, CAUSING HIS Crucifixion, was evidently based on polygamy, .. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus, and His followers. We might also think they were "Mormons". (Journal of Discourses, vol.1, pages 345-346. How can a person stay in a church that believes that Jesus was crucified because He believed in plural marriage? No one can read the history of the Mormon Church and remain in it. I pray each day for my Mormon relatives and friends.

I remember reading when David Oman McKay was asked by the media if he has seen Jesus said replied "No". Asked if he wanted to see Jesus, replied, "No", When asked, why not?, he responded, "If I saw Jesus, it would mean I could no longer walk by faith, but by true knowledge. In essence saying he would have to be perfect. (Which is impossible).

I've repeatedly heard in their testimonies re seeing Christ, " it is far TO SACRED TO SHARE"... forgetting entirely that SEEING GOD IS A PREREQUISITE TO BEING AN APOSTLE. Joseph told his "CALLED" apostles to realize they MUST wear out their lives serving as missionaries AND SEEKING THE ANNOINTING OF CHRIST to truly be called His apostles... to testify of him.

The Hinckley quote is not quite right. In that paragraph he's talking about members of the Church being witnesses by the Holy Ghost, not the apostles. I was pretty bummed when I searched the quote and I found that it wasn't what RFM said.

How are witnesses that members of the church receive from the Holy Ghost (about Jesus the Christ) different from those witnesses the Apostles receive? I would say it would be the same witness. Then logic follows that there are many special witnesses!

There is ONE apostle's name on each gate of the Heavenly City in the Book of Revelation, along with the name of ONE of the sons of Israel. Judas was replaced. After that, there were no more apostolic elections/choosings. Paul had congregational "apostles" (sent out ones) in his mission, but Paul's apostleship was in question in the New Testament and the Early Church. Paul even had to refer to himself as an apostle "born out of season" in order to field the claim that he, too, was an apostle. There were ONLY 12 Apostles in an Early Church that fully expected Jesus to return in their lifetimes. There were NOT 12 perpetual OFFICES of Apostle.

My understanding seeing Jesus Christ applies when he come down to earth for all to witness otherwise only sinless can see the savior it's not possible the chosen disciples did his preaching when he was crucified God's plan to save us all ..this my opinion no one is worthy to see the Savior even God the father whom Joesph Smith has claimed according to the Bible without Joesph Smith correction I was born Mormon LDS Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints as it's known today known as the only true church on earth...I've come to my own conclusion listening to history of the church and many changes from Joesph Smith to the present leader/President

Good analysis. Originally, they were not called "apostles" in 1835. Read the D&C (not the chapter headers) very carefully. The only ones who the Lord specifically called apostles by name were Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer. Oliver Cowdery said "Your ordination is not complete until the Savior has laid His hands on you." I would presume that then, and only then, could they be considered true apostles, but until that point there were merely disciples in "The Quorum of the Twelve". A special witness of the Name of Christ is not a degrade, (Section 107) A special witness of the Name of Christ means that one has partaken of the nature of Christ. This is something people don't know about until they have experienced it for themselves, and even then it is difficult to explain. Dallin H. Oaks couldn't be more wrong about this. You don't have to be a lifelong member of the church and render service to the church in order to receive the Second Comforter. Any person who follows the Doctrine of Christ as given in 2 Nephi 31,32 and 3 Nephi 11, who receives the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, and continues in faith, living by constant revelation from the Lord, will eventually find themselves in His Presence, witness the marks in His hands and His feel, and the wound in His side, and will receive the testimony of Jesus that he or she has their calling and election made sure. Many people besides Denver Snuffer has seen the Savior, people both in and out of Denver's movement. There are numerous books, blogs, and personal testimonies. The stated purpose of the D&C and the restoration, as stated in Section 1 is that "every man might speak in the name of the Lord". The people I know who have received this witness have been public in their testimonies, though not blatantly so. I have heard Tom Phillips' interview with John Dehlin. Tom was taught incorrectly about the Second Anointing and the Second Comforter. The former is the public experience in the temple, and the latter is the private experience with the Lord, Himself. Once the person has received the private experience, the public experience is superfluous.
@brucejensen3700
@brucejensen3700 Год назад
What makes you think the D&C is really Jesus Speaking? Read and study sections 101, 103 and 105. Do you seriously believe that Jesus gave such terrible advice to the saints in Missouri? Do you really believe Jesus made all of those promises and then just abandoned these faithful members of the church, (see section 97)? According to Hyrum Smith, more than 300 members died from exposure that winter. I could go on and on. The D&C is solid evidence that JS was just winging it!!!
