The glowstone ring is a great new feature, being able to craft it out of just 5 solar essence and 5 iron bars after mining level 4. It also has magnetism.

I don't know about you, but I always lean into salmonberry season, because salmonberries give you as much energy as parsnips without wasting potential profits. You can get several hundred if you forage all four days of the season, which should last you through chopping down the whole cindersap forest and mining to the bottom, as well as lasting until hops become ready. Gold-star hops are the next food I lean into, as they have 81 energy and 36 health, and I brew the lesser hops into pale ale which is a great moneymaker. Then once I go into Skull Cavern I usually can count on having gold-star cheese available to eat, and that is a good high-quality food (225 energy, 101 health) to keep you alive until you can make better foods with mining buffs.

I really appreciate that this isn't some perfect run guide. It's a real run, warts and all, it gives a much more real take on the idea, and we can play alongside and have a chance at not only keeping up but maybe getting more lucky. Thank you!

You still have a decently big plot that is sprinklerable. So I would recommend fishing and just generally going hard in spring to get enough money to unlock the desert so you can plant Starfruit the first summer then try to push for pigs after that. You can also minmax the skull cavern to get fairly deep fairly quickly. Build bombs as you go along and farm as much Iridium as you can. Smelt that for 1000g per Iridium bar (or 1500 w/ the blacksmith mining perk). Crab pots aren't fantastic money making imo. Personally I don't feel they're worth it unless you're going down that specialization. My go to strat is to just switch to crab pot skills after I stop fishing on a daily basis. Having cheap, and auto-baiting pots is very convenient, and a good way to get a steady income of trash to be converted, and fish to be made into food items or fertilizer.

Don't forget that you can place sprinklers in the dirt plot, even before it is cleared. There is room for maybe nine sprinklers to have full range, in between the logs. (Not sure exactly, I'm trying to remember, but it was quite a few.) Also, Lewis gives the Spaghetti recipe at 3 hearts, which is a loved gift for Robin, and he gives the Eggplant Parmesan recipe at 7 hearts, which is a great mining food with +1 to mining and +3 to defense, so I would say it's worth it to befriend him. He's pretty easy to befriend with gold star peppers, or green tea. I still think beer is an excellent moneymaking strategy which pays off very well by fall on the beach farm. But it means investing early into tappers to make kegs, and planting a big plot of wheat, which does grow just fine through rainfall alone, or you can certainly help it along by watering can sometimes if you want to speed it along. The amount of wheat you can grow might keep your brewery running all year, even if you filled a shed with kegs. Animals are a great investment at the beach farm. Obviously you want to get the Artisan skill so you can profit the most from mayonnaise and cheese and cloth and truffle oil. The Botanist skill maximizes the value of truffles, but if you intend to make them all into oil anyway that doesn't matter as much. I'd still get Botanist for the bonus to wild forageables though, because I like to grow wild seeds in winter when nothing else grows. Winter is the only season when wild forage crops are more valuable as crops than as seed packets, if those crops are iridium quality. Plus you'll then be harvesting iridium quality horseradishes, leeks, grapes, and flowers, which make excellent gifts for different NPC's. Plus it's just simpler when all forage has the same star value because then they take up less space.

On the dark levels those stone golems are really tough. Running away from them is a good strategy if you wanna focus on just heading down as fast as you can. They have 45 hit points and 5 defense, but luckily don't hit you too hard. If I want to fight them I usually upgrade my sword, because unless you remixed your mine rewards the next sword doesn't come until the Obsidian Edge on level 90. Since the steel smallsword can only do 4-8 damage I think it's worth the investment to get a silver saber for $750, which can do 8-15 damage, or even a claymore for $2000 which can do 20-32 damage. I don't prefer weapons other than swords though, because I need the speed and swing range to stave off attacks, since I'm not great at dodging or aiming.

Crab pots for some early profits, enough plants to get Greenhouse done and manage without wasting all the energy, and yeah, animals are perfect. And, most likely, fruit trees. Maple Syrup for sale or melting gold bars works, too. Ultimately, if it wasn't a min/max playthrough, you could've do whatever you feel most enjoyable, but oh well.

for the beach farm your really going to have to push fishing and animals pretty hard. there are a lot more options once endgame opens up, but your going to have to wait till winter y1 at the earliest. If you plan on not abusing any mechanics the best route imo is fishing till you open up SC and just farming Iridium bars, but if you don't like SC best bet is to just stay up to date on your watering can and farm mega crops. you realistically will only be able to manage about a quarter of the sand, so most of the sandy area is best used for livestock. Mayo is still the best option (400/chicken/day) for the coop and truffles for the Barn (1.2k/pig/day), but that is somewhat dependent on if you want to go searching or just buy an auto-grabber; we tend not to spend a lot of time on the farm come endgame... level 30 is always empty and the club is a preference thing. There is a trick you can do to multiply its damage so a lot of runners go for clubs, but for a standard playthough the increased damage doesn't do as much as the speed of the sword. Don't worry about the axe, you can open up both the nice area of the farm and the secret woods to help along your profits. crab pots aren't worth it imo, they quickly become a chore and don't produce much. for the slingshot: we have come full circle, its fine to use now it just takes a little bit of practice because it only pops on walls or enemies, but you can buy explosive ammo from the dwarf and its much faster and "safer" than iron bombs. Glad to see you posting the run; its always a lot of fun to travel along with you on your adventure. :D

I have been attempting to Min/Max for Skull Caverns on this farm. It works about the same as other farms but would allow for a decent chance to get sprinklers set up for Starfruit in the summer. You could make them before then if you rush the Steel Axe which is really nice for possible strawberries. The patch is 10x20 which with 21 quality sprinklers can cover that entire section. 179 spots of crops for that setup.

The mayor is in fact a weirdo. He also gets caught up in the townsfolk drama.

Nope, no reward on floor 30. It's weird, but that's the only floor that doesn't have one.

For my beach farm playthrough i chose to fish until i had enough for the barn and upgraded for the pigs. Truffles and cheese is how i made tons of money.
