@@charlesreactss, fun fact: from the moment that the string broke and the first note hit on the replacement guitar, it took precisely 30 seconds - and STILL didn't miss a beat! Rene Martinez, Stevie's guitar tech, earned his wage right there: flawless switch.
@@musiclover9361 True words for that guitar tech. He was as smooth switching out guitars as Stevie was in not missing a beat! lol Damn I miss that boy!
The GOAT in action...not missing a beat or breakin sweat over the fact!! Oh Stevie, Stevie....ur a talent that had SO MUCH POTENTIAL ☹️ Love his total cool professionalism...can u imagine a modern artist braking a cable an just carrying on...not many lol Then they’d go all diva an blame everyone around them for making them “look stupo!” Just another day in the life of a genius 🥰🤘🏽
My favorite SRV song. My brother played in a band and everytime I would go see them they would play this for me. Thanks. Love your reaction videos. Yes I subscribed on your ACDC videos. My number 1 band.
That extra piece of string was a broken string . . . That was one of the slickest moves you will ever see as he changes out a guitar without missing a beat. True artist.
@@charlesreactss The first music genre to be commonly known as honky-tonk was a style of piano playing related to ragtime but emphasizing rhythm more than melody or harmony; the style evolved in response to an environment in which pianos were often poorly cared for, tending to be out of tune and having some nonfunctioning keys. Not that you asked but just giving the info. I think it was Leo who asked what honky-tonk was and so here it is 😃
If you liked this! Then you need to watch him doing Pride and Joy! When I first heard it, some of my coworkers tried to test my knowledge on the blues! They believed I couldn't tell if it was a person of color was playing the blues or not! I had mentioned to them that I was born listening to the blues because of my parents playing it all the time in our home! Needless to say I did pass the test, but I went out and bought SRV's cassette! I been a avid fan ever since! I hate that I never got to see him live, and I was born and raised in Texas!
If you watch the show he did for the Presidental inauguration in 1989. He played 4 songs and broke 2 strings. He also played behind his head and behind his back. It's worth a watch
Thanks, Charles - Stevie was very generous with his musicians -- gave spotlights & credit where due -- and this pianist was amazing, right? - yeah, BTW, Stevie broke guitar strings ALL the time -- that's what he switched... lol
Kathy here - loved your reaction, but you need to watch the video as you are reviewing. He broke a string, has a great crew and he signaled he needed another guitar and made it happen and didn't miss a beat. If you love him, listen to Pride and Joy and Texas Flood .
Players usually have multiple guitars and do for various reasons. Mostly because they have a different sound and are tuned a bit differently but also for the way they feel when playing. Amps also have different sounds.
Merry Christmas ⛄🎄! Loving all these SRV reactions!! And your little sister shout out lol! You should watch this version of Little Sister he does with Jeff Healey who is a blind guitarist ...also Ain't Gon Give Up On Love...live at the Capitol Theater...(he broke a string .. that's why he switched guitars
There are so many more videos here is one not many people are reacting too it is when he first started out it is called I am gonna commit a crime I think it is on a showboat also Check out this one it shows a different side of SRV ii is Stevie and his brother Jimmy playing the guitar and it is rude mood/pipeline I think you will like them
This is a song you could dance to, especially with the piano accompaniment, whereas some of his other pieces are for pure, unadulterated stand back and be amazed listening. I have an ex who's a very good guitar player by the name of Mason Ruffner'; check out his album Gypsy Blood. He's also played with Santana, U2, & played on Bob Dylans' Oh Mercy album. Nice reaction there, Charles 😎
Hi Tris, I noticed you said Mason Ruffner was your ex. I’m from New Orleans & he was a big deal here. I may be wrong but I believe he was from Texas but later made his home in New Orleans. This city’s culture revolves around food & music. With so many music venues such as the House of Blues & Jazz fest, etc. I think he built up quite a following of fans. He must be near 70 years old now, I don’t know if he’s still actively playing but I imagine he still could. A musician is not like an athlete where they have to depend on physical strength to continue what they do, they probably have the ability to play as they always did. Nice of you to bring him up & give him a shoutout even though you are not a couple anymore. Very classy move 🙌🏻✌🏻
@@missgmoma He lives in Sweden now, though he still owns his house in Wimberley, Texas. I'm friends with my other exes as well, I seem always to relate to musicians. Mason has many good memories of New Orleans, he said he lived there for 14 years, but he went back to play at a Blues Fest a few years back & noted some changes (will leave it at that). There are some good songs on Evolution, as well, and shouldn't be an issue with copyright as he self produced it. Happy New Year in advance, let's burn 2020 in effigy & dance like pagans around the pyre. Peace.
@@trismaccarran9950 thanks for the info. It’s good to hear he’s doing well. The locals in the area usually remain loyal when an artist resides here for awhile. I understand what you mean about how he felt when he returned, ever since hurricane Katrina in 2005 the city has never been the same. Corruption & crime are at an all time high. I admire the way you speak well of him as I had mentioned even though you’re no longer together. Unless violence is involved for whatever reason people sometimes go their separate ways but it’s a rare virtue these days to not knock them down as so many do. Yes, I’m hoping so much for a better year for everyone. So many are hurting right now through no fault of their own whether it be jobless or just in isolation because of covid. Hopefully we can all dance & breathe a sigh of relief to a better year. I forgot to mention that is a good idea you had about not worrying about copyright issues if his songs were reacted to. Well, I appreciated the chat & I’m sure we’ll meet up again here ❣️ ☮️
@@missgmoma Saw your reply when I opened my email; Mason's a good guy, he calls once a week and we always find fodder for the grist mill. I'm replying because you seem like someone who enjoys music from various genres, heavy on the guitar, as do I. The best slide guitar I've ever heard is an Aussie by the name of Dave Hole: check out his studio version of a song called I Found Love; hope you like it.
Nah, he broke a string on the first guitar. Remember, you just got through asking what was up with that string you saw hanging there. Yup, that was a broken string. Enjoy...
I seriously cannot hear this without missing my partner stupid Covid stupid international borders but merry Christmas to you love may this be the best one ever
