First three days I felt overstimulated with no focus, like no sleep on high caffeine and physical anxiety. Still got sleep so I just kept on going. The forth day I could finally relax and started to feel good. Now, 7 days in, I have more energy mentally and physically, better focus, concentration, more relaxed, more engaged and a feeling of reward/satisfaction after doing tasks/working out etc. I don't know what those first three days were about, had the same with D3 and SAM-e (SAM-e was too much for me, had to quit it), maybe some kind of shock after being deficient for so long? Idk, I just hope that the effect I'm getting now doesn't fade away.

Thanks for being here and sharing your experience with methylfolate @LG-bi1sr! I see similar reactions when there are viruses at play like Epstein Barr. It messes with your biochemical pathways and your ability to methylate. It sounds like you got just enough methylfolate that when you brought it in, things adjusted in a few days which is great. SAMe is quite a tricky one. People with fast COMT and slow MAO or people who are susceptible to bi-polar don't do well with SAMe. I bet you would do well with sublingual B12 as well if you don't have that in the mix. Aside from B12, zinc and magnesium would be great additions to ensure you're methylating well!

Is this why nmn and nr made me feel better for ages? It doesn’t now but I have sibo, severe restless legs and I have mycotoxins in my house, the only way I kept my job was by taking nmn and nr to function, but it doesn’t work now. I also noticed slow release niacin have me energy and made me feel happy. Glutathione and nac makes my restless legs hurt unbearable , like augmentation level restless legs. I can’t even at fruits cuz I get histamine reactions, I basically have to eat low histamine biphasic diet which is basically chicken and a few steamed vegetables. Great video btw I wish I’d found it 12 months ago.

Hi again @Vgallo! Wow, you have a lot going on! Sorry to hear that all these things are happening. Sounds like you have a virus (or two) in addition to mycotoxins. @@carriebaileynutritionist well we are all being treated for staph because my autistic son tested positive for it, not sure if this counts as a virus, but I heard you mention it in another video. Forgot to mention I was diagnosed with methane and hydrogen sibo, hence the biphasic diet, we tried treating it but my functional dr Said I have to get away from the mycotoxins for any effective treatment Thx for the reply, will definitely check the video out cheers

@@Vgallo Staph is a bacteria which means y'all are on antibiotics. You did mention that you were diagnosed with SIBO, sorry to hear that. Doctor's usually miss the viral component of SIBO in my experience. You're inspiring me to do a video on treatment resistant SIBO! Sending healing vibes to you and your family!

Thanks for being here Elli! A B12 deficiency could cause back pain, yes!. If you are taking methylfolate without B12 or enough B12, this could be causing your back pain. By taking methylfolate without B12, you can speeding up methylation which is a good thing. But methylfolate without B12 is preventing you from carrying through the full methylation cycle. I recommend Seeking Health Hydroxo B12 amzn.to/3PHlvFn. You can start with 1 lozenge in the morning and increase to as much as 2 lozenges twice daily.

The first week, my stomach hurt so bad. Then, it adjusted and started to feel better. It made me think of depression medication. There are symptoms that are unpleasant at first then it gets better.

Way better! Less head hunger, depression, anxiety. I also get better sleep. My doctor had me taking folate because my levels were low. It was affecting my liver. After lots of research, I decided to try it.

I take methylcobolimin b12 injections 1 ml daily. and methy folate. 3 mg. I wanna switch and see if some symptoms go away. What do u suggest trying in place of methyl folate ? Ty

Thanks for being here @user-ys8oo4zj3m! Thanks for your questions. It's hard for me to answer without knowing more about your symptoms. Is your 1 ml of B12 = 1mg or 5mg? Have you considered a high-quality B-12 that contains both adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin? If you suspect your methylfolate is too much or causing your symptoms, you could try stopping it for 1-2 weeks and see what changes. Some people need a ton of methylfolate after adding in the right dosage and form of B12 in order to see a shift in symptoms. Right now I have a client that feels better on 10mg of methylfolate twice daily. He is also taking 12mg of hydroxoB12 daily.

@@user-ys8oo4zj3m There's no point really in taking folinic acid in my opinion. What you need is methylfolate in order to methylate, but if you are experiencing reactions from it you can reduce or remove it. Be sure you are eating leafy greens every day, though. The reactions to methylfolate are more about what's happening in your body, creating symptoms. The underlying root causes of all symptoms are pathogens and toxins. These are the things I see that interfere with the body's ability to methylate.

I’m new to MTHF and I feel kinda trash for about an hour after taking it but then I feel much better after that. It’s not something that lasts all day. Is this normal at first? Can I expect it to go away as I detox?

Welcome @dynamic.catharsis8987! Your response to methylfolate is interesting. I have not seen that response so I am curious about what else you are eating or taking when you take the methylfolate. Also curious about how much you are taking. The good side is that you bounce back and feel much better. That tells me that you aren't methylating well and need some support. You will detox better when you smooth out that response. Are you taking B12? If so, what form (sublingual or capsule), what dosage, and which type of B12 (hydroxo, adenosyl or methyl)?

@@carriebaileynutritionist also in my vitamin lineup is black seed oil, lions mane, fulvic humic acid and probiotic juice (Good Belly). I am currently not on any prescription medicines. I am a smoker but I am also working on quitting that and usually don’t smoke until later in the evening so I’m wondering if that is also playing a role.

@@dynamic.catharsis8987 You're welcome! It looks like too much methylfolate and not enough B12 to me. Also B12 taken through the digestive tract is harder to absorb and assimilate if you have any problems with intrinsic factor. You could continue your methylfolate caps and add in Hydroxo B12 amzn.to/3PHlvFn which would dampen the negative impact of methylfolate you are experiencing and give you more B12. As a smoker, you are likely low in vitamin C too. I like this one: amzn.to/3IlgvT4

The supplements I got came with vitamin d and magnesium. I read it helps with absorption. It's a bundle on thorne.

I see the bundle you are talking about. The only nutrient I don't like in that bundle is magnesium citrate. Citrate is usually made with corn and irritates the digestive tract. This is likely the stomach pain your were experiencing.

@@kristinemetcalfe2168 Methylfolate needs zinc and B12 in order to help you methylate. I prefer magnesium glycinate to magnesium citrate.
