I’m happy with my MK2s. Bought them brand new in 2005 to replace the Stanton STR8-60s I had since 1999. The Technics still work perfectly, the pitch faders are matched, and I’m never gonna get rid of them. They stay safe in my Odyssey flight cases. Best decks ever.

This was more of a Technics video and you didn’t really go into the Reloops at all. Reloop is also coming out with their Elite mixer which looks like a direct challenger (possibly) the the djms9. I’ve had the djms9 and the original reloop 8000s for a couple years now. No issues at all and it’s convenient to have some controls on the turntables itself (pitch play, loop rolls etc). Love your videos my dude. Very informative and honest. Also appreciate the Phase update.

@@TheAnunnaki-NYC Doesn't everyone use the same OEM thought? Or is it just relloop? As long as they add enough valuable features to it im fine with it. Who cares who makes it as long as it does/have what we want.
@TheAnunnaki-NYC
@TheAnunnaki-NYC 5 лет назад
@@D-One That's the thing Hanpin take all the features and designs from the Technics 1200 and makes their own version of it and brands just buys the rights to them and just chooses a color scheme and slight design differences to make them distinguishable from other brands. For example. Audio-Technica's lp120 is a Hanpin turntable and is also the same design that is shared by the Gemsound DJL-2500. The only difference is one has VTA and the other one doesn't. Reloop 6000 series is the most used Hanpin turntable. American Audio HTD 4.5, same unit. What I'm trying to say is the brands really have saying in what color or material they are made of and if one includes a 45-adapter or if the tone arm is black or silver. That's it. Wow & flutter...etc Torque is all determined by the turntable maker not the brand. So when people give credit to the brand they are missing the fact the brand had nothing to do with the design and features that matter the most to the DJs.
@D-One
@D-One 5 лет назад
@@TheAnunnaki-NYC Oh, informative. I see your point. However... I own a 2 Technics 1200's and a Reloop 8000, the reason I got the 8000 was the MIDI pads it has, Hanpin technically makes them but Reloop put the Pads In and brought it to market so I give credit to the company that offers me what I want whoever makes it or bought the patent is irrelevant to me as a customer.

Reloop has really stepped up their game. They made a nice mixer to go with their turntables. I think we’re in a new era today. Turntables are gaining popularity over controllers. Or ??? Terry, we will wait for your thought on the Reloop 8000s. About the rest my opinion is that for me it comes down to money and what's practical on today world, plus like they say "When you die you can not take anything you bought with you" I'm more interested on the Reloop 8000s but honestly I was expecting no tone arm or a digital tone arm. I also hope that pioneer get the message and get them self to build their gear with spinning platter or something like the Reloop 8000s but with a digital base tone arm so the turntable look is kept but it will have the digital benefit.

Top notch video Terry, very insightful while focusing on DJ’s needs, wants and the technology. I’ve been DJing for 32 years and owned my fair share of crappy, belt driven turntables (Realistic, Gemini, Pioneer). My first Technics turntables were used 1100’s. I sold the 1100’s, begged, borrowed and stole enough money to buy a pair of 1210 MK2’s. I still have and use the 1210’s a couple times a week. In 27 years I have not replaced a thing on them. I’ve only had them cleaned and calibrated a couple times. They are amazingly stable, reliable and have an at home feeling. Also as a long time night club DJ, In the 90’s club owners wouldn’t always choose 1200’s but was always relieved when I saw they had. I’m going to wait to see the reviews, please get your hands on one to review. If the reviews are great, I’ll sell two 1210’s and upgrade. It would be nice to purchase and experience a brand new pair of 12’s.

Digital pitch sucks !!! My first turntables were 1200MK2 used. When they discontinued, I sold them to buy some new turntables, but I bought the 1210M5G (digital pitch) without having read opinions first and when I tried it I realized that they were totally unstable and could not keep a mixture for more than 20 seconds without Having to be on top of them fixing the beatmatch, but did not want to sell them because they were too beautiful, until this years bored and I bought back some 1210MK2 used in good condition and God, really are wonderful to mix with them!!! The difference is very noticeable!!! Now I'm selling my M5G because I really got bored, even if they're the cute girl from Technics. If in these MK7 still not correct the problem of the digital pitch as in the M5g, I sincerely doubt that spend money on them having my reliable MK2 again ❤. I'm wondering, with the changing dj technology, how long will this "standard' hold up. Since this has become a niche market, I foresee most dj's going for more inexpensive options. The reason why alot of higher end companies don't like to internally ground the turntables it is because there may be noise that may manifest from the rca cables. Separating the ground cable from the rca isolates any kind of noise to the unit.
@ClevelandTerry
@ClevelandTerry 5 лет назад
RadioKilla07 that makes sense if you’re an audiophile, or mix with vinyl, but most people aren’t using the turntables to play hi fidelity recordings. The software can get around any additional noise.
@RadioKilla07
@RadioKilla07 5 лет назад
@@ClevelandTerry I get it, You're reply is coming from a DJ perspective. But I will have to beg to differ on you saying "most people aren't using turntables to play hi fi recordings." Vinyl has made a huge comeback making up 38% of overall record sales from the labels. That is huge, and not too mention the amount of companies today that are making Turntables today to cater to this market. Now I DJ with 1200's as well as using a Pioneer controller, and I'm fairly open to the technology that fascinates me, but the truth is the Vinyl Market is still so massive that companies like Technics, Pioneer, Reloop, Numark etc can still put out turntables to not just cater to the Avid Vinyl Lister but to the Purist DJ Culture which is huge in Europe, Japan Australia and India. Such things like this catches the attention to electronics companies to cater to them and just average vinyl listeners. So I wouldn't assume that most DJ's is using software based platforms like Serato, Rekordbox,Tractor etc. Maybe here in Canada and US we've come to go that route more but the rest of the world have different perspectives on the Art of DJing and I respect that. I'll keep my audiophile side out of this reply haha! Anyhow love your video's and keep up the good work, nice to see the brothas doing some DJ videos.

I still have my Technics turntables I bought back in 1995 and I used the hell out of them in the 1st 10 years and although I've hardly used them in the last 10 years they're still in great condition and there for me to use whenever I want, great fkn turntables! I have one Technics 1200 (grey) and one Technics 1210 (black), with the original Ortofon concord grey cartridges I bought with the turntables, of course not the same needles though lol, I've replaced those several times since 1995, specially in the 1st 10 years when I used them a lot.... I remember I got the grey one for like $400 & I think the black one for like $450, back in the day at Astro audio & lighting in Glendale California... but that was after haggling with the sales man for a couple of hours. Lol I got out of the whole DJ thing in the early 2000's when I got an MPC 2000XL and got more into making beats, still using my tables all the time for sampling and sometimes to scratch a hook, just not for DJing anymore .... but after seeing all this cool new DJ technology in the 2010's I started getting interested in the DJ thing again and in 2014 I got myself a MacBook Air laptop and a Pioneer DDJ-SR controller with Serato and I love this new DJ technology, no more searching through crates and switching records, or carrying a limited amount of records and no more skipping needles.... I love vinyl but I don't miss those damn skipping needles or warped records at all! Lol The main thing I like about all this new DJ technology is the instant access to your music library, the 8 cue points, 8 mpc style rubber pads per deck, echo delays, filters, visual display of the sound waves, not having to get doubles of the same song and no more skipping needles! :) Now my plan is to sell my DDJ-SR and replace it with the Pioneer DDJ-SR2 or the upcoming Mixars Primo, because those controllers have a built in analog mixer, so i plan to hook up my old turntables to the controller and I will have the old school DJ technology and the new school DJ technology, the best of both worlds and bring new life to my turntables with Serato and a DJ controller!!! :)

Cleveland Terry Bowens exactly the reason why a new turntable by technics for the ridiculous price of $1200 is not reasonable enough to buy it i’m willing to carry several crates just like the old days but I must have new music you can only play old-school for at least 10 minutes at a time at a five hour gig more or less so it’s not worth it to me to haul more equipment I rather use a controller and Serato it’s just so much easier to set up get the job done and move along when you’re done let’s face it hauling crates and turntables it’s just a thing of the pass I think it’s going to stay there unless vinyl releases bring back top 40s

tehniks is ok in club but nothing special for home listening dumping all to extreme is not the way to hifi gummy metallic klang 4000 ok for home i put tin wire under platter loosed bit bearings more relaxed sound but not reccommend to touch if you dont know how it responds more bass and tape like sound you must do it by ear , made natural skin mat listened and kompered prefered felt and even this 2 sides sound different logo up is better so skin under and felt up dumpens motor to, its hearable but not transfers to needle, quarts lock dont stay on 0 more when 30sec it moves one dot per min its little for listening but i had hifi belt with strobe if it wears at end of record you find it moves fast up or down dont like belts and rubber wheels, mine came with ortofon turbo 8mv like it dont feel need to some over 100€ cart, antiskating rides to center on smood platter but it actually works also do by ear bit more then counterwaight, at beginnig thinked maybe i dumpen somehting inside wery clean accurate work not comperebale to early tehniks so desided not to mess, tonearm is not ringing friend has garrard with sme but his snobe i try find out why something is like it is inexpencive way, goldplating silverwires just makes sound duller best is pure brass you lose rock sound

almost 2 years after this video but I just ordered an 8000 MK2 + Numark Scratch, imho a solid starter setup. But more importantly, I got both non factory sealed for the price of a 1200 MK7. I would have loved a Reloop Elite + MK7, but too much $$$$$ for me. Even at the current $999 price the Technics are still pretty damn pricey next to the competition.

I was really excited for the MK7s but they definitely missed their mark on the pricing. While there are a lot of super OEMS out there at a cost dramatically less than the new MK7, it's hard to distinguish if it's worth buying the new Technics. The Reloop RP7000MK2 is pretty much your "modern" SL1200MK2 with a stronger motor and the basis of what the MK7 is. Sure, this whole new "motor" design on the Technics is intriguing but I have yet to find or meet anyone who has "burnt" out any turntable or dealt with this "cogging" issue on past models.. PLUS, the price point is pretty spot on. 2 for just about the same price of one new SL1200MK7.! The new Reloop RP8000MK2 is IMO much the best hybrid based turntable for DJ's who juggle both DVS and vinyl mixing. The cost of that thing is a total bargain compared to the new 1200s just at a single deck standpoint. You def hit the points on analog vs digital pitch. I was going to buy a pair of RP8000s earlier this year but after demo'ing a friends, the digital pitch threw me extremely off and I just didn't like the feel of it. I bought a pair of used SL1200M3D's last February for $500, learned how to calibrate and work on them, invested funds into replacing tonearms, pitch faders, spindle knobs, platters and new RCAs. These decks are practically new now and will last me for years. I can't see myself swapping them out for anything else now. Unless Pioneer puts out something amazing at NAMM lol.

Didn't really mention anything about the Reloop technology and what they have to offer. I personally value your opinion/reviews on DJ tech so I was kinda hoping you'd be able to go more in depth with the Reloop 8000mk2 and possibly their elite mixer. Heavily debating between the Rane 72 + 12 setup or Reloop setup due to the instrumentation side they're going for. I'm tired of seeing DJ Angelo reviews lol he's not going to say if Reloop is shitty or not. Pleaseeeeeee help a brotha out.

Hello I'm looking for a suggestion on turntables. I don't want to scratch, no gadgets old school mixing like in the 80s. I've narrowed it down to three models... Vk12 prime, reloop 7000mk2 or technics mk7? The prime looks amazing, the reloop has extra features and cheaper, while technics is the original straight up... I use to spin on mk2s in the late 89s early nineties...uts a whole different ball game now 😊😊😊

To be fair the direct competitor on technics from reloop was the 7000,the 8000 was the shot reloop gave on making the digital serato version of sl1200. My opinion is that reloop has it good,yet the debate is not with a clear winner if you wont consider the price.If reloop heard more the feedback they would be on top. Same thing with portabolism if they hear the feedback reloop they will be the top.

they are just slightly updated versions of what went before.I have two sets of Technics and i will never sell them but the mk7s are way too expensive for not enough of a change.I could get two reloops for one mk7.I have had early Stanton str8s vestax pdxd3s soundlabs citronic belt drives.The Technics though the simplest are the best but my Str8s which i took everywhere had more features which i found very useful.The only reason i dont still have them was because some idiot drowned them in a glass of beer.They were also the most beautiful decks i ever had.I would like the next model on but i am not sure where i could put them.

Mixers are way more complex these days for using dj software so its going to happen to turntables.Mixers have midi ,effects both hardware and software, so its the same risk for them as it is for turntables or cdjs, media players ,or controllers,.I doubt that Reloop rps are as well built as the mk7s but it rather depends on your needs and your bank balance.

As an ex DJ who now loves a bit of audio I am still rocking my MK2 and they are solid. However the new 1200's are not really DJ turntables but audio turntables with DJ usability. They are far the best Direct Drive turntables from an audiophile perspective and with a good Eliptical cart and stylus can hold up to more expensive belt drive audio decks and sound way better than Pioneer or re-loop. You can then swap out the cart for a spherical concord or Shure M44-7 (or whatever floats your boat), whack up your weight to 4g and set your tracking to 0 for your scratching/mixing. I do agree that for just DJing fk £1000 but in the audio world its not expensive and it would be considered mid range at best. I am going to invest in a pair but pointless until I upgrade my speakers and amp or get some nice active speakers.

I was hella disappointed when I got the official MSRP of the Techs...just don’t understand how they can justify a $1,200 price tag per unit when the competition is much less and pretty damn good as well. They really needed to come in at $1,000 or less per table. Ideally $899 would have been perfect I would have definitely got them. At $1,200 I just can’t justify that.

Too little too late at a too high price. The only reason I would get these Technics is for the nostalgia factor. They shitted on the DJ's and tried their luck with the rich audiophile market and it seems that didn't work out and now they want to backtrack and milk the Dj market? Hell naw.
