Members of the Texas House of Representatives on Thursday initially passed House Bill 1927 (HB 1927) to allow Texans to carry handguns without a license to carry. More: www.khou.com/article/news/pol...
I lived in Wyoming for years ,they don't require permits for open carry, never have, and people are not having shootouts in the streets, hardly ever heard of someone shooting another person..
Democrats said Texas "will turn into the Wild West with everyone carrying on their hip" when open carry was being pushed in Texas. It passed, and years later I have only seen maybe 2 people open carry.
This isn't wyoming idiot, this is Texas. If you've ever heard of the driving here than you could imagine the people who will be able to carry... Smh just a shame in our government.
@@tristianryan-liles4522 Then people who will be able to carry with this bill are the same one who are allowed to carry now. They just wont have to go to the stupid class....idiot.
As a family man, I want good people to be able to protect their families and themselves. Carry laws and licenses don't stop bad people from doing bad things. But neither should good people need carry laws and licenses to keep their families safe when they go out for a walk, a nice meal together or to church.
I love how the first thing they say is that it’s the NRA that wants it passed. It’s not the NRA it’s we the people want it passed the NRA just likes the bill...
They said the NRA supports the bill. You made It sound like the NRA initiated the bill and that’s why it’s being brought to the floor for votes. I’m not saying that’s what you said. I’m saying that’s how I read your comment. I’m sure I misread. I grew up around guns, I support the second amendment, I support this bill, I support the laws we already have. The same Laws the criminals don’t follow and it doesn’t matter how many laws the liberals want to add or reword; the outcome will be the same. Criminals will ignore the laws they add just like the laws they ignore now. I have handled a gun but I wasn’t comfortable holding it because they scare me. I’m always scared of being around certain people who are gun owners. I watch their body language, their attitude towards the gun and their attitude towards how they handle arguments. They have the emotional intelligence of a nat. I also listen to the hypothetical stories “ if someone breaks into my house they better be prepared.” My roommate is the same way. I tell him if you shoot him in the back be prepared to go to jail. Shooting an intruder is not that simple. He doesn’t understand why. He is from another country but he is a citizen here and he is a legal gun owner. He thinks he can shoot an intruder because he broke in and from what I have read, and what I said to over “ he would have to be a threat to you and if he is leaving he wouldn’t be considered a threat so if you shoot him in the back you may have to answer some questions.” The cops can tell how far away the intruder was from you by way of bullet entry. He asked about if someone broke into your vehicle and if he witnessed it from the house he thought he could shoot him. I told him “no, not unless he was running toward you with intent to cause you harm.” Breaking into your vehicle is not a threat to you.” My point is many people don’t realize what needs to happen before a person is allowed to use a gun to defend themselves. Even in a castle doctrine state
@@opalblack879 Agree with you. Open carry, no license, no training, no background check, will increase gun deaths from the current 30,000 per year in the U.S. People in WY, population 570,000, compare their situation to CA, population of 40 million. People do not realize that gun laws were much stricter after WWII during the 1950's, (Ozzie and Harriet, Lassie, Mayberry RFD days). The corrupted non-profit NRA, which received $30 million from Russia, has contributed to GOP politicians for decades to end gun laws that were in place 100 years ago. Violent crime rates have dropped in the U.S. because of demographics, the U.S. population is aging due to a drop in childbirth rates.
Thank you ✌️I was raped over a dozen times during my high school years. Brutally beaten to death almost coming back from school in Hawthorne, CA and detective Kenny Craig did nothing to help find these rapists and bring them to justice and you know they always protect their brothers and sisters in blu! 😡😡😥😓
the ‘bad guys’ already carry without a license (what makes you think they follow the rules)... this move will only HELP increase safety defenses to LAW ABIDING CITIZENS! TEXAS IS THE BEST STATE!
As a Retired Police Officer 34 years I support Constitutional carry it is our 2nd amendment right. Open carry not crazy about, but to each there own. I believe folks still need to train with their weapon and be proficient with it. Every round fired you are liable for. I pray our Senate passes this bill. We have plenty of other laws that outlaw criminals from having a weapon, but they don't comply with the laws now on the books.
@40 Life Im sorry your a felon.. not my fault.. Rather violent or not.. there are certain things you can do to get your rights back, jumping on the internet to attack others about guns isnt the way to win your case. You seem mad because you made a choice and lost your rights. Many people do, but that doesnt make it right to take them away from people that have there rights. AND.. by the way targeting people on the internet like you have .. I dont think you should own a gun.. you obviously have anger issues, and probly what put you in your position.
As a commissioned armed security guard in Houston, i approve this bill. An armed society is a polite society. Stupid people will weed themselves out quickly. Let nature take its course 🤷
@@killaweed6770 yes the bill was passed but don’t be fooled with it. If I were you get your LTC because if you don’t you’ll have a lot of problems coming they’ll say it was unreasonable shooting for defense blah blah
the thing is that people who are against this thinks that everyone is suddenly going to be carrying their glocks and acting like law enforcement. That's a massively false assumption. However, I bet that a criminal with a gun who sees a store full of armed citizens will very probably think twice before trying to commit a crime with that gun.
In the early 90's, people claimed the streets of Texas will run red with blood. They said the same thing about open carry 6 years ago. Now they are probably saying the same thing now.
@@damiantoth8577 they were also saying the same thing in 2017 when Texas got rid of the rather silly notion that blades had to be under a certain length. Now people can legally open carry any length of blade and I haven't heard of any uptick in knife-related crime.
how is it dangerous? Missouri passed it 2017 and crime went down a bit. no where near how all the democrats say they'll be piles of dead on the streets. criminals already have guns.
I feel the same way! It's scary, almost like devolution to wild west days but I like that it grants myself easier access in order to protect myself during ever increasing rise of 💩storms in this heating climate we're living in.
@@radfoo72 misinformed much???? It dkes not grant easier access! U still have to have back ground check to buy one etc...... Its our legal right to bear arms and if you dont agree move to a shithole like california or new york Texas is 2A sanctuary state now
@@texasjourneyman207 you could say it in a nicer way. They’re on your side. If your such an expert you can enlighten people with your wisdom without being condescending.
its also why active shooters here in texas tend to go down fairly quickly while in other gun free zones they rack up a couple dozen casualties because the probability of armed citizens or officers being in the immediate area is pretty damn low, and those awful police still havent invested the skill points to learn instant transmission.
I worked on a ranch in Fayette Co Tx when I was younger.. always had my 44 strapped to my side .. went in to town a lot with it right there ..didn’t bother anyone..
You will be responsible for everything. If you carry, you should Google and study the same material covered in CCL training courses where classes last up to 9 hours or a full day with 4 hours of verbal training and what if scenarios with a 20 question test which must be passed and then shooting range training at 10 and 30 yards on a human body target where you do timed fire, load and secure training and get to pass or fail (in front of your classmates at a Texas ccl course).
@@demsakawalkinglatetermabor7ion o don’t like guns or weapons of any kind and much less violence but hopefully someone it will help us save innocent people from and against police brutality.✌️
@@josevenancio5008 It won’t work like that at all. You will be dead or in prison for firearm misuse. There’s many reasons not everyone should handle firearms but this law will most likely end up destroying ppl who steal a purse, start a fight in the whataburger drive thru line, try to steal at the mall, let the gangs kill each other at the club quicker and keep more police alive and decrease the need to put ppl in court or jail wasting citizen’s money or time. The ppl you want to do something to a police officer won’t even be able to hit the cop compared to how fast the cop will drop the ppl pulling guns.
@God Rolf, The Ed position You’re name calling like a 3rd grader to cope. I said that ppl will carry not worried about police randomly or purposely stopping them and finding a firearm. They will be like you and carry then freak on something another says but now have their weapons. Try actually arguing something I said rather than name calling and maybe someone will take u as being serious and inquisitive.
@God Rolf, The Ed position 500 whites have been killed by cops since 2020. I’m not bitching about it either now am I like the black or brown or whatever an African American calls themselves now. No one wrote that cops are superhuman which is where u went. There’s reasons u can’t beat a soldier or cop in a firefight and it is not just training but what they get to wear and what tools are at their disposal. But yes their training puts them above you. I hand them my CCL ID when pulled over and knowing I have been approved they let me go since I won’t have a record of any kind. That’s the benefits of a good life.
Sooooo....should I just wait? I turn 24 this month and am just now getting into guns. If I can just skip the classes and go straight the store then hell yeah
Although this is a big step for us as Texans I would still suggest going through a course to better understand safely handling a firearm. Ive been around guns since I was 7 im 23 now and still practice gun safety.
@@jordanmason4195 yea, if you haven't been active in the 2a for a while, handgun classes are cheap and will tell you alot of things you should know before carrying even if its not for a permit.
You can already go straight to the store if you're 24. You just can't legally carry the weapon on your person except you're on your property or private property under your control OR are welcome to be on, or in your own car or a vehicle under your control if the weapon remains concealed.
Just purchase your weapon. They passed the law don’t worry about no damn class. Your no building architecture. Gun owners well have you believe that the classes are worth it. it not. using some ex military dude or police officer teaching you his shitty shooting techniques. Just use common sense
Woohoo.... One step closer to freedom. The democrat speaking against the bill said he was tired of hearing about rights... Well of course you are. You are exactly what the founders of this country warned us about.
Shall not be infringed, the constitution is very clear on that one And if you don't like our constitutional rights I suggest you find another country to live in.
I'm a 23 year Army vet I have firearms. What I'm worried about is a bunch of yahoos strapping guns to their hips who don't know anything about firearms. I can go with constitutional carry, but there should still be some type of training that you have to go through so at least you can hit the broad side of a barn and you know the state laws, gun safety rules and you have some idea of when to shoot and when not to. This isn't the old West where people grew up with guns as tools. Most people who want carry guns just want the right to carry them without thinking about the responsibility of carrying them.
News Anchor acts like the shooting in Bryan, Texas counters the pro-constitutional carry argument. So, the guy in Bryan was stopped by the current ban against carrying a handgun? No, but it did stop a law abiding citizen from using one for self-defense.
@@roach75 that is kind of what I was thinking. 700 seems like quite the exaggeration. And with exaggeration I would really question their credibility on other statements they make.
"Now they can carry in church" right now with a ltc I can carry in church unless signs are posted. Ppl who follow the law will abide by it those that don't last I checked are called criminals and no matter what the law of the land is they will not follow. My wife has a crazy schedule from work so the time she has off she takes care if her things. This will allow her to carry. I will still need a license because I travel to OK for work and they accept it.
As a gun owner I don't agree with this they're giving people full freedom to walk around with a firearm with no proper training or knowledge I can image all the reckless people that are gonna carry now and think there some kind of Rambo jeez 🤦🏾♂️
I’ve been a chl holder for over 20 years, people that have licenses and take the time and money to train and pass state exams prove to be a lot more responsible to at least carry a gun. Every jo blow on the street roaming the community with just the need to purchase and not even practice or know gun laws is a disaster waiting to happen. A gun is not really an ideal weapon under stress it takes a lot of practice and responsibility to keep the gun owner and innocent bystanders safe in the event that they need to use their firearm. Yes I think everyone should have the right to protect themselves but not everyone is responsible enough to learn and practice how to use them.
That sir in the white shirt is the only one to have a valid point, I believe they will have to step back and see just how responsible the people of Texas can be.
As an Australian I envy you people . I swear once these travel restriction are gone I'm coming to the USA either Colorado ,Alaska , Arizona or Texas since they are the most gun friendly states
I hope it passes, i currently have a CC permit from another state and am signed up to take the course here in Texas in May. It is not right to compare a police officers training to the public, police officers deal with hostile situations many times a day, the public does not. I believe that the public understands that you have to be in fear for your life or the life of others in order to use it. Guns are not for settling arguments or disputes, they are for protection from perceived life threatening circumstances. GOD Bless Texas
About time! A license to protect yourself and you're family out of you're home is b.s!! If you can buy a gun legally then you should be able to carry it without a license!!
Pass it already we all know criminals are packing regardless of what the law is why should a criminal enjoy more freedoms than a average Texan that stays inside the lines of the laws. Level the playing field only criminals with evil intent want unarmed and unprepared citizens.
Congrats to the residents of Texas!! I'm envious of you guys. If only Illinois lawmakers would have this much sense to pass a law like this. Some of the most strict gun laws in the nation and one of the highest crime rates. They're too dumb to see the correlation. Protecting armed criminals and trying to unarm law abiding residents that only want to protect themselves and their families, just doesn't make any damn sense
"Police would not be able to question or detain someone just because they have a gun in public." The Supreme Court has already ruled that when/where it is legal to carry a firearm in public, the mere possession of a firearm without other evidence of criminal activity CAN NOT be sufficient justification to spawn an investigatory detention. "To be a felon in possession of a firearm is not the default state." It is disgusting that politicians and commentators are so willing to dispose of our right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.
Ok but what will that do to other states reciprocity. Now with my concealed permit I can have my concealed in most states around Texas. If we don't have an approved permit I am guessing that won't be the case???? it seems to me these politicians haven't considered that. My permit also makes the process of buying another weapon quicker.
Police officers get 700 hours on weapons handling. Half the police officers I know can’t hit the broad side of barn standing next to it. Just for the record every time gun right are expanded crime goes down.
I suspect that when murder and other violent felony statistics are compiled in this area after the enactment of this law, there will be no increase to a lower incidence of violent crimes successfully being perpetrated on innocent victims.
I want a glock slimline. It's just my size. My current sidearm is too big and bulky to carry so I haven't bothered to take a class then also pay the state fee thereafter.
I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing. But it really lays down an even ground. A criminal is not going to care for permit so this puts the general public in danger. I can see why they are passing this
" officers have over 700 hours of training with a weapon" 26 year senior officer confused taser with sidearm and kills young man.... She thought her gun with her tazer....
