In one episode Charlie is talking about going to see a psychologist and after she got done telling him some shit he basically told her his daughter loved her and was a huge fan and she should be happy because she has fans like his daughter...it was so gross and now she doesn’t trust any other ones to talk to..Dixie has talked openly about wanting to unalive herself and Charlie talked at one point about have an eating disorder..it’s really the complete opposite of what I thought it would be and I as a parent cried so much watching it..it broke my damn heart to see how much they are hurting because of this and I don’t even know a thing about them except what I saw during this series...

The scariest part to me about the influencer culture is that you have these people, who are often minors, getting as much fame as Hollywood actors, but never with the security teams and protection physically that real celebrities have.. and then you end up with stories like Christina Grimmie...it's scary and parents really need to watch out. It's bad enough the emotional damage they are doing but the physical threats to their safety trump all in my opinion

I have a new cause that I would like Josh help bring to light... I've been on dating sites over the years and there's people who post themselves with their children. I have always refused to talk to men or women who posted their children because that is not a safe place. So, I would like to push Tinder, POF, Meet Me, and other sites to remove those photos as I believe this is also wrong. These children are not being shared in a safe place and the thought of adults having access, grosses me out.

There's too much "grooming" earlier in the kids' lives, and the residuals that go along with it, to assume older teens can consent. All the pressures that are on the younger kids are still there when they get older. They can start out liking what they're doing, but end up not liking that they HAVE to do it, and the sleazy stuff that comes along with it. Her name comes up in the guesses on CDAN when there are yuk blinds about young girls doing yuk stuff.

Here’s a rundown of who they are: Charli and her older sister Dixie are both pretty famous and they’re pretty close. Charli is a talented contemporary dancer but of course she got famous for doing TikTok dances. Dixie does music and she gets a lot of shit for it because of how much auto tune she uses, which she actually has a nice voice without it I wish she didn’t use it. Noah is Dixie’s boyfriend, also extremely TikTok famous and they’re a lot more private than other famous couples. Charli is one of the only huge influencers I’ve seen who still hangs out with her non-famous childhood best friend, she actually seems humble. I don’t think either of the sisters really enjoy TikTok anymore because of how much hate they get, warranted or unwarranted, but they can’t stop because of the point they’re at

I think that made a difference to have parent who was not living off his kid and could be objective. She wanted to go to college and experience some normalcy.... I feel like they are a little better than others like piper rockelle, Danielle Cohn and Lillan Ketchman, one because they are older and two because they kind of just fell into fame. However, I don’t like the tiktok dances though because I think a lot of the dances are inappropriate for the people who watch Charli and her Tiktok. That’s my problem with tiktok dances, is a lot of people who use tiktok and do those dances are teenager girls and some of the dances are not appropriate. Also I’m not sure if Charli wants to be famous. I was watching their show and one of the episodes is called “do you feel like it’s worth it?” That episode was pretty eye opening.

Parents should never be allowed to be a manager/momagers,etc for their kids. They shouldn’t be allowed to have access to the money kids make from youtube, acting, music, etc. these kids should have proper professionals who actually care and protect kids. They should have accounts that no one but the kids can access as adults. Like Coogan law but higher percentages. There should be way more laws regarding schooling, money, protection for kids - whether it’s youtube, acting, music, etc.

When my daughter was struggling, we spent hours and hours just talking whenever she wanted to talk. Thank goodness these girls have each other because it looks like their parents aren’t much use for relying on emotionally, and once you become that rich and famous you pretty much give up any ability to trust people, because you never know someone’s true intentions. I know Josh said he’d like the money, but I wouldn’t want to live like this for all the money in the world.

I feel bad because I feel like the girls are pretty mellow and possibly a good role model for others as far as her competitor dancing and the sister singing. They are no BHAD BHABE or whatever that girls name is. If I had a teen I wouldn’t mind her looking up to these girls. Maybe I don’t know a lot about them but they look like they dress normal and have normal beauty standards(no 10 layers of makeup)

I totally agree with you on this one. Not only is this too much pressure, makes them grow up too fast but the exposure isn't good for their safety nor is it good for them mentally. Tiktoks that both of them make leave them vulnerable to a lot of stranger who might stalk them and God forbid worse. Even knowing how many celebrities get stalked and how scary those situations have been or how they ended should be enough to not want this for your child, not to mention, their mental health is 1000 percent more important than money and fame. A real parent would never sacrifice their child's overall welfare so that they can make a buck. Parents are supposed to do the working and kids are meant to be kids! Even when they do work, what's wrong with learning from a real job out in the real world when this "job" isn't going to last and they will need to aquire skills for real jobs that will give them security. I'd never choose this life for my kids ever

I would comfort her, give her some time to emotionally recover, and then have a serious sit down conversation about quitting or scaling back when she was calm.

Even if she didn't want to quit, it would be good for her to understand that it's an option and that her mental health is a priority whether she quits or continues.

@@Glambutfirstcoffee You listed people who had talents that got them where they are after years of hard work. Nothing she said was racist; take a step back and look at how regular Charlie is. I think Charlie even understands…if she was not skinny, cute, and white taking other people’s dances she wouldn’t of blown up. It’s not a bad thing. It’s luck and it’s just how the media is.

How are her parents not infuriated? If she was my child (doesn't matter that she is over 18 she is still their baby) I would put an end to all that social media shit. It's even more heartbreaking watching her face at the end when her dad "comforted" her.

This is so, so sad. Kids need to be free to play, be creative, learn, and just be kids. Why do so many parents want their kids to grow up so fast. When I was her age I was still out running around trying to catch lightning bugs and watching Disney movies. My son is 8 and I want him to have a normal childhood and he is. He plays with legos, gets ice cream all over his face in the summer time, enjoys slow boring days. We watch movies together and ride our bikes. You couldn’t pay me any amount to live that lifetime, especially my son. I love him too much to ever put him in that lifestyle. I feel so sad for her. Honesty I hate social media anymore and other than watching my RU-vid shows I don’t get on much anymore. Oh and I’m highly considering that my son won’t have social media until maybe his older and can emotionally understand it.

As someone who’s watched my fair share of “conspiracy” videos, they have covered the bathtub in music videos because almost every big artist has done it, the theory is that the bathtub symbolizes a sort of “baptism” into the industry. Lots see it as the sign of selling your soul.. could also just be an aesthetic thing? Idk lol
@lauraashley4009

Yesss! Ive seen alot of the conspiracy type videos that address the common themes, it absolutely seems far fetched but once you start noticing the reoccurring themes, it starts to seem alot more plausible! I'm like... what are the odds that all these different artists, of all ages, across so many different genres, aspire to create the same ole weirdo scenes?!?!

@@lauraashley4009 right?! There’s obviously a meaning for it if EVERYONE is doing it! I’m not someone to believe every conspiracy theory I hear at all, but when something is a recurring theme it definitely makes you question things..

I think this brings up a good conversation. While this is a hyper example of having children live these super micromanaged, busy lives, this has been happening to average children too. Parents are so afraid of the world that they feel like their kids have to be consistently wrapped up in activities, and academics. Especially before covid. Kids really do need to learn to be alone with themselves, and to use their imaginations. They need to be able to go out and play. It is safer to play outside than to be on social media. That is a statistical fact.
