As a European living in a city with a long history you probably do get used to seeing lots of beautiful architecture from the outside, but it's rare for me to see the interior of those buildings all decked out in such a luxurious way.

This is so true 💕 I've met great friends through my local comm. Almost shared a house with one of them which would have been great as we were already having a lot of sleepovers and trying on each other's dresses and just generally having a great time. Being lolita roommates sounds awesome. My current irl friends are not into lolita but I have an online lolita friend who I met in 2017 and we've been corresponding weekly since then, getting each other through tough times, being really close despite there being at least one ocean between us. I used to think that online friends aren't real friends but I take that back now.

One of the most significant lolita gatherings in Europe are the annual tea parties held by the French association "Rouge Dentelle et Rose Ruban", along with their biennial lolita con Modern Doll Fest. In 2022, both the TP and con were held! I'd recommend you have a look at it, Fluffytorii made a great vlog about it. This year, the TP was called "Tea Party Masquerade". We've love to have you there someday!

I want to go sooo badly! The organizer of this event was at this event and was telling me about it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to because I can't attend any events during September or October with my haunt job. Unless they change the dates or have another event I will never be able to go 😭but hopefully there will be other events I can attend!

I've always wanted to try Lolita but as a trans man I personally don't feel comfortable in fem style clothing and I very rarely see Lolita that isn't a dress? This was really fun to watch! I've been looking into travelling in lolita and for lolita events especially since they seem so few and far between in north America, so this was really cool to see someone experience a sense of community while abroad

I have made the experience that many European communities are very welcoming. Some of my friends travel a lot and met many Lolitas through that. I'm from Austria and we also had lolita tourists visit us, like from Israel, Sweden, Russia, and recently France and Spain 😄

Here in the Denver area we've got an alt fashion store that I think has been around for 25 years or so? It's called Fashionation! They don't really carry stuff you could wear much in lolita (maybe goth or punk lolita?), They mostly carry stuff for goth, punk, and rockabilly stuff. I got some really nice dresses from Unique Vintage though! It was awesome to actually try on the dresses instead of guessing if something will fit based on measurements! I think you could probably get stuff for pastel goth and such too.

A place I really recommend is Parc del Laberint d'Horta. BEAUTIFUL! It's free twice a week and the rest of the days it's 2,23€. Lot's of plants, a maze, greek statues... Perfect for taking pictures

I adore this brand, Violet Fane. My first Lolita dress was the cult of the sea. And I was able to email to reserve it for the second order. I had never done anything like that with alt fashion and the owner (or staff) were so kind to me. It really put an impression on me. I have one of their classic blouses. So comfortable!🖤

I've never really been into much classic lolita like Violet Fane (I am more of an Angelic Pretty fan) but the prints are gorgeous and it would be nice to feel like a noble lady. I need to find myself a really nice place to have a tea party in 😅 these places in Europe are extra.

Every other year we actually have a lolita convention in France called Modern Doll Fest! There's a Tea Party and a convention and it's held by Rouge Dentelle et Rose Ruban (they often hold tea parties and other meets, they're in the North-East). We're actually starting to have more lolita associations again

There definitely where teaparties in Barcelona before! The theme is always different though. Like this year was Lolita of Green Gables. I didn't go there myself but friends from my community went. I thin there's like an umbrella group on Facebook and insta by the Spanish lolitas probably?

@@DarklightAmy There is even a FB group with all the European events. Spanish community is really active in terms of events, both in Madrid and Barcelona. But there is also many events in France, Germany, Italy and Finland. And from time to time in other countries as well.

In the UK a lot of big towns or cities have at least one alternative store that's been around as long as you can remember. There's a small chain called blue banana that's been around forever, and there's a goth store near me that was founded in the 80s and has been in the same storefront for nearly 40 years (shout out to void). Most stores here only sell rockabilly, goth, punk and emo/scene clothing as opposed to cute styles.

re: long lasting alternative stores in the US, trash & vaudeville in nyc has been open since 1975! it moved from its original st marks place location in 2015, but it's still open today. tripp nyc is their in-house brand!

lucky! I livei n frane and never been to a cool lolita event like this :( I think in Europe they exist only in big cities, in province and smaller cities there aren't, and as in Europe everything farther than 2 hours of car is far away/a road trip, well we generally don't drive or take transports that far away jsut for a meet-up :( also I didn't know Madame Chocolat! I've been to Barcelona 10 years ago and haven't seen this shop aaah ;w; too bad! anyway thank you informing us!

Where you from ? Im from west of France and regularly go to the East where there is bigger events. But the local communities organize a lot. For Valentine's day there is at least 3 tea parties planned, 2 in Paris and one in Lyon and many more meets.

I wish I could go to a lolita event honestly, all the events my local comm holds are so expensive to attend, up to $25 per person, and for someone who generally thrifts and then modifies my clothes to be able to wear lolita because I can't afford big brand pieces even with saving and budgeting, it's just too much money for me. I'm praying for the next swap meet because those are free to attend and I have a dress that doesn't fit me well 💀💀
