my grandma and uncle are catholics and they were more accepting than my christian raised father when i came out as trans. sometimes religion doesn’t matter, but sometimes it can be scary confronting loved ones who are very religious

My catholic mother is more than willing to help me feel comfortable and loved no matter what I do. My ex-christian atheist dad thinks that im fueling a delusion and I am inauthentic and gullible.

My first couple D&D characters were essentially self-inserts, so I, with a heavy heart, played a guy. The next 30 or so have been fem. 👩🏻

I feel that. I would usually choose the female option because I was expected to. But honestly, thinking back, I think I only chose female 'cause male wasn't me and there was never a third option.

Ok, funny story- my 1st DND OC was a male genasi bard and at the time I didnt realise I was trans as a trans guy. So early on in the campaign, my genasi had a potion the artificer had experimented on which had a genderbend effect and turned my genasi into a femme one, resulting in a side quest of finding a way to change them back into a guy. 😂 didnt finish the campaign but its a little funny to think back on

I did the same thing! It kinda gives me imposter syndrome sometimes, cuz I see so many guys who played as the guy option, and there I was in such deep denial I had to justify to myself picking the girl option lol

Can you explain that? Doesn't genderfluid fall on the binary where you sometimes present as male and sometimes present as female, whereas non-binary is more of an androgenous thing? How can you be both?

​@@falsevacuum4667non-binary is an umbrellaterm for anything outside of the gender binary. Basically anything that isn't "I am a man" or "I am a woman". It includes a lot of different things. Genderfluid is considered part of it. I get that that might be a bit of a definition thing, though. If you sometimes feel like a man and sometimes like a woman, you wouldn't just be able to say "I am a man" or "I am a woman" and have that be true about you as a person, consistently. Yes, those statements can both be true sometimes, but not consistently. Basically, anything that isn"t cis man, cis woman, trans man or trans woman is considered outside of the gender binary. I hope that helps. Also, some gender fluid people aren't fluid between woman and man. Some might be fluid between different nonbinary identities, or one or both of the binary genders and something in between them, or I guess any other combination one could come up with.

I created 2 nonbinary characters in Miitopia and it was heartbreaking when they both got misgendered by my other characters because Nintendo doesn’t have a nonbinary option for Miis.

I'll never forget my first DnD character, Lillian Havenborn, a spoiled noble sorcerer who had the best intentions but also had a ton of trust issues (This character very much like me but I left all of the male mannerisms when I started to RP). My shell was cracked but the internalized trans phobia told me "nah, stay inside" but Lillian allowed me to be myself for a few hours a week and it helped me greatly a lot🥰

I always picked a girl cause I’m agender but not masculine at all. I just happened to also be afab. Now if the game actually let me be genderneutral like Fallen London, I definitely went for that first

Ahh this is me, tho as time goes on I keep creeping closer and closer to masc-ness so how little I felt trans as a kid is making less sense to me lol. The reason I chose for choosing girls was more because of character design prettiness/more customisability (AroAce so only for the aesthetic too)

If I was arguing this with a Christian, I would say something like, "Why do you think it's a mistake? Maybe God made trans people in order to teach you how to love your neighbor."

I did the same. It's really just another coping strategy for eggs- sometimes when you can't figure out what feels wrong, you double down on your AGAB in hopes that it makes the dysphoria go away.

Don't stress about it too much. A lot of people create an avatar as an "ideal" version of themselves (I'm going to make myself taller, more muscular, not balding, etc.) But, not everyone does. Some people create something entirely different just for fun, or because it fits the theme of the game. I mean, I don't look like a 7-foot tall green orc, or a space marine, or a winged angel flying around healing people either.
