Free in Christ indeed!! I’ve been getting my coils altered since I was 4 years old in some way. First I was getting my hair straightened with a hot comb on the stove. Around 4th or 5th grade, I started getting Jheri curls. Around 7th grade is when I started getting relaxers. No matter the method, the psychological message was the same…my natural coils were not okay to be seen. I had that “rough stuff”, as my aunt used to say. My hair remained relaxed till I was 36 years old. I started seeing ladies return to their natural hair and LOVED IT for them, but thought I could NEVER look nice with my natural hair. Then I started developing a small bald spot in the front and center part of my edges. I had to comb my hair a certain way to conceal it. My friend asked me if I had ever seen a woman with her natural hair and thought she shouldn’t have done that…I said NO, and she said likewise for you. That was 10 years ago. Returning to our natural hair is waaaaayy deeper than just the aesthetic of it. It literally causes us to peel back and handle sone deep insecurities, old wounds passed down through generations. I literally just started loving my hair within the past year. Even though I’ve been natural for years, doing my hair was a chore, but now it’s a privilege. I had to remember the One who created me designed me with tight coils, and He doesn’t make mistakes. He said His creation was good. If He thought I was good, who am I to think any different? Returning natural is a whole journey. Now ladies are having to lay down the wigs and attachments the way we had to lay down the relaxers. What a multi layered topic this is! Sorry for this dissertation!! 😅 Thanks for this video! 💕❤️

Your dissertation was sooooo spot on though! It absolutely has been passed down through generations. Your friend made such a good point! When I first went natural my hair was totally shaved, so I had these lovely natural waves in my hair that were so shiny. But as my hair grew longer those waves couldn't be seen anymore, just frizz lol. So I had to learn to love that element of my hair, realising this is how God created me. It's a great thing we've come to the place we are now and we can help to educate others about their hair.

Yes, I'm also a believer of Christ! I stopped using relaxers back in 2004, and I rarely straighten my hair, maybe once or twice a year.

Heyy 👋🏾 awesome! Same, I probably straighten mine twice a year but I'm certainly glad I decided to go natural ☺️

@@Natural2020_ I'm glad as well. My hair was waist length at one point, but I had a setback, and now I'm trying to get my hair back healthy again.
