That track reminds me of those small tracks they ha e you do on gran Turismo for your c license. Haha usually using a micro or cappuccino.

Maybe it is a surprise but most of my RU-vid viewing is non-miata related - still some car content, but also many other making/technical hobbies along with PC tech and a little bit of gaming. Honestly my favorite Mazda MX-5/Miata based channel is undoubtedly @mostlyuselessgarage

@@TheOfficialDanman Racechrono just for the data on an Android phone, then exported with RaceRender software. In-car video is a GoPro 9 that I bought used on ebay. Then I glue them all together afterward.

Hi Beavis, Great videos. Watching your stuff gets my heart racing and chafing at the bit. I have a 98 nb with bilstein coil overs but otherwise stock. Is there much logic in putting in a 6 speed. I'm still running just a stock diff. Thanks.

While im not Brandon, I can chime in that based on what you've said, the 5 speed you've got would be fine for track at stock power (granted its in good operating condition with fresh fluids).

Probably better to spend your time and money on driving the car, the 6 speed will net little if any benefit.

Wouldn't a Motorsport practice day be more suitable for your type of car, more cars with similar cornering speeds? Maybe not as easy to come by?

There isn't really anything else available - track days attract any caliber of car/driver. Even un-timed practice days will have road cars, or lightly spec'd track cars.

How do you like the CAE? What made you go with this one over IRP?

I've driven the car at a few different tracks now with the new CAE shifter installed. This shifter is undoubtedly doing a great job of ensuring I get the gear I want. I definitely don't get stuck in the reverse gate no-mans-land. 4-5 and 5-6 shifts are significantly better. It has also highlighted the fact that 3rd/4th gear synchros are pretty sad, but I'm happy with the upgrade and the value the shifter brings. The CAE was the only one I knew of on the market that had reverse lockout, which was the feature I was most interested in - I don't belive the IRP has this.

@Bbeavis you are correct irp doesnt have reverse lockout. I have a cae shifter in my subaru but irp in the miata. I would have gotten cae as well but they only had it for the 6 speed when i was looking for a new shifter.

Yes it is a reasonably easy track to memorize but it is very close to Melbourne Cbd. It also a challenge with the different grip levels when on the limit. Chuck in some wet weather and it will provide some excitement.

@@lain_1262 I was just saying it is convenient to get to and the not so perfect track condition makes it a challenge if really trying to test your limit. The consequences of getting it wrong can also be severe as I have witnessed. Certainly not my favourite track in my low power car, I quite like Broadford which is not too far away and relatively cheap.
