They always tried to put up a tough front but bartenders see a lot so they recognize a lot of hidden signs in people. Almost all of them are severely damaged people. Now lawyers...they're a whole different breed. They think that they're the only ones in the world that know how to manipulate other people. They also think they're smarter than everyone else. Top that off with their desperate need for attention and acclaim and you've got an environment that's just ripe for manipulation. Just a quick fyi. I feel so bad for Tiffany. It's incredibly hard to not only break the cycle of abuse, but then press charges against the abuser for fear of retribution. She seemed to be thriving after leaving Barry. As for Keegan, any person who enables an abuser is as bad as the abuser themselves. Barry must've been an expert manipulator, but it's still hard to believe such an accomplished woman would throw her life away for an idiot like Barry. May Tiffany and her poor parents rest in peace.

The answer is Yes. Abusers work by manipulating so the lawyer may have believed he was set up. Abusers "future fake" so he could have her convinced that the ex only wanted him for his money or he was going to live this great life with this lawyer, etc. It's how abusers work or Tiffany would not have been a victim within the first month. Their charisma of love bombing and future faking (making great plans with you that will never come to fruition) is to cover the actual deep abyss of vitriol, anger, despair, violence, contempt, and hate that they are truly comprised of. Until the mask of charisma drops many people believe them and can get them to do lots of things you wouldn't believe.

A lot of people ask why doesn’t someone leave but never think of the dangers AFTER getting out of the relationship. A safety plan for leaving is _critical,_ and I think that, fortunately, the word is spreading more widely that leaving is the most dangerous time for a DV victim. I do also wish that people would talk more about one other thing Mike mentioned happened to Tiffany, and that's strangulation. As I'm sure you know, there is no better predictor that a woman's partner will kill her than a prior non-fatal strangulation. We can't convince everyone to leave, or that the violence almost always gets worse, or that most abusers will not change... but we _can_ tell them that once he's strangled you, you are 750% more likely to be killed by him than you were the day before. Some women are waiting for a "red line crossing" moment and (again, as I'm sure you're familiar), much too often, they only realize that whatever it was, it's been crossed, during the final act of abuse resulting in death. Being able to give women a concrete, specific red line, with such a good factual, rational basis behind it, has saved a lot of lives. I'm so grateful to all the entities and organizations that cared enough to collect and analyze the data to find these kinds of things, and I wish more people knew.

If your partner does this to you, please, please get out before it's too late. And I don't mean to over-simplify - I know how incredibly difficult it is to leave. It takes a huge amount of courage; so be proud, OP, of what you've managed to accomplish. And for anyone out there who's thinking of - or trying to - leave: there is nothing to be ashamed of if it takes a few tries. You haven't failed, you haven't let anyone down. Just remember that your life is worth something, and you deserve to live it. Congratulations again on getting out, Elle! And I really, really hope you feel safe, and that he leaves you alone soon; look after yourself x

The crazy thing about this, I've met Keegan before. She was an ADA with a case my boyfriend at the time was in jail facing prison time over. I remember asking her a simple question and her attitude !!! such a huge red flag. At the time, I thought how differently it would have gone if she weren't an "officer of the court". The state of Oklahoma wasn't even going to give this dude anytime for DV, they never do. She honestly would have won the case just by asking her why she stayed and didn't file charges for so long. Every officer who came across her all banged up should be held responsible too because they had the option to file anyway. The DA of Oklahoma Co. doesn't prosecute DV anyway so it would've been pointless but still. As much as the local news covered this, I never knew how seriously violent his abuse was, it's so clear that him killing her was next. Anyway, I knew she was a dumb bitch when I met her. If I know anything about Oklahoma justice, I heard she was from old money, there's probably a good deal coming her way.
@pazza4555
@pazza4555 Год назад
OK sounds about 30 years behind basic best practices in handling DV cases. BTW -- "dumb bitch?" I find it it so discouraging when I hear women use the same language that men use to abuse and demean us.

I can literally count on one hand, the number of content creators I follow and thoroughly enjoy the hard work put into their perspective content (as soooo many of your followers also believe). Out of those, you’ve long been numero uno. I was particularly moved when recently, I came across a comment from a follower of yours who, in his/her comment.. praised the quality of your work. Not only because they are inherently correct but because, he unfortunately has a severe vision impairment and, as a result has trouble “watching” much of anything. Due to your witty, comprehensive as well as entertaining and engaging content, he relayed was so very appreciative of and complimentary of your channel because he is able to thoroughly enjoy your work. It was the best and most moving comment I’ve come across on any channel!… (though I have long been a fan of your work), this comment reinforced and further allowed me to appreciate everything you do for others. Even though you are not seeking outrageous, selfish attention. Quite the opposite, in fact. Not once a reminder, ask or constant (actually never) requests for follows, likes, comments, etc.! Great work speaks for itself. No need to ask for likes when you earn them 100%! Not only do you bring attention to voiceless victims as well as everyone effected by such disparaging situations, you renew focus to unsolved cases giving families continued hope…..(I can obviously continue, but you get it 😊!) You so naturally 100% entertain, engage and share your work with those who otherwise may not be able to interact with social media in ways most folks can. It’s the little things (actually huge things) we don’t always stop to think of you’ve paid special attention to that has earned you such appreciation, respect appreciation and success. As for planting drugs, here's a story for ya... when I was like 13/14 I pissed out a local bully kid who was like 15/16 at the time, because I started hanging out with his ex girlfriend. He didn't like it at all and started looking for me to beat me up but I always managed to dodge him somehow. After a while he got pissed and concocted a plan. So this one day I came home and my mom just looked at me kinda pissed and said something along the lines of: "Once dad comes home, we're gonna have a chat.". When that happened I was always shitting myself, but I knew I didn't do anything wrong so I was only half shitting myself lol. So my dad comes home, we go to the living room and they close the door behind us. We all sit and my mom says: "Look, we had this letter in our mailbox saying that you owe someone for drugs and that you buy from them quite often. They even included a bag here..." and sure fucking enough, there it was, a little baggie with a white substance. I was dumbfounded and ofc I denied everything. My parents believed me because I was a straight-shooter but also, the letter clearly had a non-adult hand writing. Then it hit me, that it must have been that guy... They ended up flushing that stuff down the toilet and we were cool. But damn, for me it was like something from a movie. I couldn't believe someone would actually do something like that IRL. A friend introduced your videos to me and I never thought I'd be able to be watching this kinda content but because of your way of narrating and jokes I became a big fan of your work. I know it requires a lot of commitment and work to make such a good content. Thank you for raising awareness and telling the stories of the victims of human cruelty so the world never forgets. Keep it up ❤

In Canada, the police doesn’t need the domestic partner to press charges in order to make an arrest If there is evidence of abuse. It is well known that battered women won’t press charges against their abusers for fear of retaliation, hence the law.

Mike! You make these horrible stories digestible. Thank you for enduring all of these horrors to bring us the boiled down version without giving the criminals too much credit. You make sure that we leave here appreciating the people who've come forward to help catch the criminals and/or remembering the victims more than the criminals. We love you for it! Keep up the great work. Don't work yourself into the ground. Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!
