I'm a single dad here. The mother of my kids pretty much just left them with me because it made her life easier. Plus I own a house close to their school and she has a tiny apartment. Im not here to bash my ex as we get along fine, but she has dated and slept with at least a dozen men in the past year alone. I have entered into an awesome long term relationship (with a younger woman I might add 😉 ) so we are both happy but from very different circumstances. The point being is that hypergamy is so strong women will just abandon their kids just to exercise it on a regular basis if given the opportunity. She is currently 36. I do believe she is in for a rude awakening once she hits her 40s as the men she will want won't want her anymore and I will still have access to beautiful women as I grow my business, work out etc.... Guys work on yourself and you won't have to worry about these delusional woman.

Hypergamy, combined with promiscuity, is the disaster, as far as I'm concerned. Previously, a below average woman would not have given herself to the HVM without marriage; and he'd never marry her. He also marries the HVW quickly, because he wants sex and that's pretty much the only way he'll get it (which takes him off the market, too). Now, the HVM can sleep with most women. This negates his need to marry (at least, any time soon) and gives hope to the LVW that she could actually get herself such a man. He's happy...she's deluded. Without promiscuity, I suspect hypergamy wouldn't have become such an issue.

Men need to step back from dating apps

With all of the focus on singles, it’s easy to miss another no-brainer prediction re: out of control hypergamy- decreased marital satisfaction. The ones who do marry think they settled and deserved better, deprive their husbands and both are unhappy.

The other scenario in which hypergamy leads to single motherhood is the 20-something who marries early and has a child then develops a terminal case of imnothappyitis and thinks she can still command a high price on the market so leaves her husband in search of something better only to find out the truth of the streets.

Single father here in the states. I have been raising my now fifteen-year-old daughter almost 9 years. The reason single-father households are rising, is because we're fighting our asses off to keep our kids away from these wretched women (they don't usually start out that way but it ends up that way, because "she's not happy"), that want to divorce us and make money off the kids back through child support, alimony and everything else.

I got married in 1990. The mating game was damaged, but still mostly intact for long term relationships. The shackles had come off sex in the 60's and that wasn't good, but marriage still made sense. It all went to hell with the advent of the internet. That's literally what did this. Unfettered access to potential mates all around the world and a total lack of social stigma for promiscuity, combined to form this awful monster. Just twenty years ago there were pockets of sanity in small rural towns that maintained their social ties better, but that was falling apart by 2010. The problem is that *we* - the majority of the people in our culture - have to make the conscious decision to behave. To control our animalistic impulses and drives. That will never happen. We're too unwise, too immature as a species, to make that choice. I truly believe that we're doomed to Rome's fate and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

Single father household are actually not a problem. Kids that grow up with a single father turn out in line with the averages, whereas single mother households usually turn out criminals.

I suspect #4 (single moms) is even worse now amongst the poor. I lived in a low rent apartment complex with about 60 units in Pomona, California back in 1980. I was the handyman for minor repairs so knew the social situation fairly well. Even back then, about a third of the units were single moms collecting welfare from the state. They were all sharing the same buffed dude, who was also a handyman, he talked about it all the time. These ladies had absolutely no interest in a steady & loyal breadwinner. They didn't want to lose their welfare (which was more than most of the local men made).

The worst about prediction #4 is that the rest, average guys, is forced by government to provide for single mothers through welfare. There is literally no risk in having a kid outside mariage for woman - she is always considered a victim entitled to get help from others.

The fact that single father households are on the rise is actually tremendously hopeful. Data shows that children tend to do well when a father is present, even without a mother, removing a positive male role model for children severely puts the quality of their lives in jeopardy.

You can’t fix a problem that over 50% of people don’t even notice. It will take a huge reckoning to put this one right.

I can't speak for all single dads, but in my case 16 years ago my wife messed up our marriage and our finances, and then deleted herself, leaving me with the care of our 2 year old son. Fortunately, I have been able to rise an upstanding young man, who now works, has his own car that he fixes himself, is able to handle budgeting and finances, polite and honest. There might be some truth in the empirical statement that single father homes are better for the kids than single mother homes.

You have several factors on drops in birth rates. This is a reasonably decent explanation. Dating is a horrible method of finding a spouse. It's a new concept and has been a problem since it began, though there used to be guidance and cultural boundaries that kept it somewhat realistic. Now, what we are seeing is both a cause and a symptom of our societal collapse. Along with other issues, we are looking at a significant population decline and collapse. The family is the backbone of a civilization, and that is rapidly being destroyed and discouraged. I think misunderstanding the graph on fertility. Young women have been fertile, but they are having far less children. When waiting until marriage for children, they are having even less because they're getting married so late in life. Fertility rates in men and women have declined recently, though the graph doesn't reflect that. This has a completely separate cause, but I won't get into that here. Simply put, fertility means nothing when they're young, because they're wasting it. Note that children raised in single father homes vs the women, the children have better statistical outcomes.

Yeah and another big question that I can think of is what will happen when men check out of dating and seek out a relationship overseas? The world is reliant on men to build and maintain cities and with declining birthrates and good men leaving it could get bad.

Guys its important to note that the value ranking for women are not just based on looks. Personaility how nurturing amd family hostory plays a HUGE part in that true ranking. Most super hot women lack personality and ot levels of nurturing instincts. An average or slightly above aberage woman with smarts style and good background will beat out a 7 or 8 because of more important traits. Dont fall for the looks trap.

As far as dads getting custody more often, you mentioned that the courts might be waking up. In California at least I think that's the case. The law in written in such a way that it refers to the parents rather than the mother. Anecdotally, I personally know a lot of women who lose custody of their kids to the dad. I know one dad who collects child support from his ex wife. Feminists wanted equality well, in CA the laws seem to be taking that literally.

You were actually right about the birth rate being influenced by hypergamy. You just forgot to take mass migration into account. The native people of these Western countries have almost completely stopped having children. But the people migrating there are having many babies.

Saying that one is 5 or 6 instead of 10 is not self denigrating. And we are at a point with women where they BELIEVE they MUST be a 10 or you are telling them and they are telling themselves they are worthless. They do not think this, because thinkings are usually ideas which can change more easily than a belief. Beliefs are usually rigid, inflexible and when challenged causes the holder to feel challenged in their sense of self and the World around them which leads to extreme reactions in most cases.

You learn that lesson when you are young. I was once walking through a Rennaisance Fair, where I performed with a group of Scottish dancers, with a friend who played the role of Clan Chief. The fertility drop is actually more extreme than it looks. (Especially when you factor in immigrant populations). But consider the age of the woman. Having a single child at 30 rather than 20 has deflated the population. If the trend continued over a century you'd see one woman having 3 descendants and one having 5. But beyond this tracking fertility is a slow game. There's going to be a delay of a few decades.

There was an Austrian painter who addressed a fertility problem in his country. He introduced a program in the 1930’s that gave loans to families where the wife stayed home and had children. After just FOUR years, the program was revenue neutral bc the country simultaneously closed their borders to products from outside countries. So wages rose and unemployment dropped. The painter’s home country of Austria basically INVITED troops from this successful country to take over their government and throw out their own shitty politicians. Having a discussion where people find middle ground requires both people to be reasonable...if their hypergamy really is out of control (it is, btw), then we can't reconcile. Unless wom3n stop these behaviors: 1 - Looking at men who are (would be/would have been) legitimately good for them the way a child looks at broccoli they have to eat before getting dessert. 2 - Ruining men's lives with greed through family and divorce court, (including in this solution the necessity of requiring DNA tests). 3 - Romanticizing the history of feminyahtzee-ism with the same fondness and adoration "patriotic" Americans have for the Revolutionary War. 4 - Refusing to see the nature of happy and successful relationships (two people on opposite sides of a chasm, building a bridge so they can be together). It matters what you AND the other person wants and therefore requires reasonability. 5 - Accusing all men of the problems that are being caused by the incredibly small section of men that they are choosing. The guys who aren't "exciting enough/give her an emotional rollercoaster" aren't the ones cheating on her and abusing her. In fact, there have been studies done unless a man activates her neurons in a way that can form attraction, wom3n don't even see that man as a person, as a human being. Since these behaviors will never change (at least not in our lifetimes) all that's left is for men to enjoy the single life (unless they supposedly find a unicorn, yeah right LOL)

What Alex says here is 1000% correct, and it has at it's core one fundamental problem: Women believe the standard of men who will sleep with them is aligned with the standard of men who should commit to them. The disconnect between that and reality is that the majority of men will sleep with 80%-90% of women if doing so is without risk or cost. However, if their is a cost or risk, as in they are fored to commit to that women, then they will only sleep with the best woman they can get and reject others for casual sex. Unfortunately for women, another human characteristic which is highly present in female nature comes into play: The male rationale/logic based thought pattern forces them to believe what the evidence before them tells them is true, meaning what they believe to be true is likely to be the truth. However, female emotional based thought gives massive scope for them to believe what they 'want' to be true, and evidence before takes far, far longer to come into the equation, if ever at all. A rational, male thought process would inflict (for want of a better term) a conclussion that if a 'standard' of person consistently sleep with you but will not commit, then that 'standard' of person is higher than those who will commit, but this simple logic fails to register with the vast majority of female psyches. Because as I've explained, an emotionally driven thought process defaults to believing what you want to believe rather than what evidence forces you to believe. So this combination results in what we see: Women en masse tearful and complaining that men will sleep with them but not commit, branding all men in this light and playing into the womanist ideology that all men are b*st*rds. However, the first thing they fail to recignize is that if they are sleeping with the top 10% of men, then any conclusion they can draw will only relate specifically to that top 10%. For the men in question, that top 10%, their unwillingness to commit is driven by the ideal mating strategy in line with what they are presented with. If, for example, 80% of women will only sleep with that top 10% of men, then that in turn means that the pool of women who will have sex with them has a ratio of 1:8. Commiting to any one of them will take away the ideal mating strategy for them, caused by the very source complaining about that lack of commitment. The only thing that would break this cycle is if women switched to a rationale/logical thought process and insisted that commitment in verifiable and irretractable ways before bedroom fun begins, to remove the contigency of a hump-and dump scenario. The problem here, in turn, is that that would mean any man with a potential to adhere to a spread-my-seed mating strategy (that top 10%) will simply cease dealings and contact with her. And there's the rub. The point at which she decides whether to supply the sex he's trying to procure from occurs within the window where she can still believes what she wants to beleve. If she supplies sex, then she knows that that belief can still be maintained, at least in that instant. If she does not supply it, then that belief must end instantaneously with reality taking its place if/when he ends contact, which she instinctively knows he will. The resulting algorithm created in such a distorted mindset is: He wanted me (and proved so by desiring sex with me) however was just not ready to commit to me (therefore would not commit to anyone, as desiring someone who cause him to commit). At some point, a line has to be drawn where it is told to woman that if they act in a stuoid manner, then expect a stupid outcome. Dealing with the situation with kid gloves just makes the problem worse and perpetual. This cannons into an untold number of bad outcomes for all involved, apart from the men getting lots of free, but I've made this post long enough as it is, so I might put more in another post.

Of course there are more causes for declining birth rates with different ones dominating over time. If you only look at the graph since Tinder came around there is still a significant decline compared to before and birth control and such already existed in 2010.

I think the main dilemma is, that those 10-9-8 guys have so many opportunities, they don't have to make a decision or to settle down. They can "date" all those 10-9-8-7-6 girls and spoil them. So when those girls want a partner they won't reduce their expectations in relation to status and looks. They want one of those f***boys, but with a good character and faithful - what in reality never happens. Because why sould those guys settle down when they have all those options?
