The first time I bought Basmati at an Asian store was Lal Qilla Special Old Malai rice. If u want great tasting quality rice this is my favourite so far. The guy running the shop chuckled when I asked if it was good as the price was premium vs lower cost brands....he said it was "too good" for daily use LOL!!! It is no doubt pricey but has a fabulous aroma and taste. My local Indian right near my office (I am blessed having such a luxury) uses India Gate Premium .... their Biryani tasted good so I asked what they were using. Tried a cheaper brand and got 5kg but it didn't turn out great taste pretty bland so I learned the hard way...took a long time for that 5kg to go down!!!!!

Hi l use Laila and always use lemon juice in the pot. We have a large Nepalese community in my area and I am told Laila is their preferred choice

If you are interested in a California Basmati, Lundberg has white and brown, organic and non-organic varieties -- all non-gmo. I haven't done a taste test between their basmati varieties and one from India or Pakistan, but I've been happy with their arborio and wild rice blend. Lundberg is pretty common in the local grocery stores in the San Jose, California area.

Exactly how I cook my rice as you mentioned at the end of vid , aldente , drain and leave covered got 10 mins ,great results, I will have to buy some aged basmati . Great vid cheers Julian

I am in USA and have tried many many different brands of imported basmati rice. My favorite brands are SHAN and SHAHZADA. They are premium quality of rice grains. Cook to absolute perfection. From white rice to various recipes of Pulao.

Different brands? but did you know that about eighty percent of basmati rice is all the same rice bagged into different brands. That’s coming from a friend of mine who works in a Indian restaurant and formerly worked in a mill in India. So if you buy a bag of Laila it’s probably the same rice as in a bag of vettee.

Using that myself at moment good results , nice rice fair price but had to buy on line as cannot get out to usual asian outlet,

I have always had good results from Zebra 1121. In the yellow sack. Long grains reasonably aromatic.

Our local kababish uses daawat extra long grain basmati, I'm not sure how aged it is but it's delicious when they do it. I've not tried cooking it yet as I still have about 4kg of T###A to get through.... Thanks for another interesting tips video Boss 👍
