This and other videos from Dr. Ekberg have saved my life. My GPs were killing me slowly...none of them ever bothered to refer me for a dieticians assessment. Watching Dr Ekberg and Dr. Berg has literally proven to me I have a combination of high insulin and extremely high cortisol combination. I am working on removing certain foods all together...stopped sugar but still craving too much carbs...not sure how to stop the craving for carbs. Its crazy

Dr Sten doesn’t really like you guys breaking it down for people. I know you’re meaning good… but he wants people to watch the video as a whole. To understand how everything fits together. It causes people to pick something and only watch a certain aspect he discussed. Sometimes it causes them to be unable to understand where he comes from or the bottomline of how everything ties together is missed or misunderstood. He spoke extensively about this in previous videos.

I appreciate the thumbnail of chapters or topics so it's easier to find the section I want to revisit, and also see a complete summary to take an image for future reference. So I'm just going to say thank you for doing this!

I retired at 63, 69 now. 97kg (214lbs). My back neighbor had an accident so I had to go over a 6ft wall, grabbed my ladder and helped. Then I had a problem, getting back over, this is when I realized that I had rested too much and lost a lot of my strength. I did not like this so I started on the 100 push ups challenge (5 times 20). I ordered weights and started with that as well. On top of that I started intermittent fasting (19:00 to 11:30), but eating the same food. So far I lost down to 92kg (202lbs) in 24 days. I have to say that I am also a gardener and grow veggies like green and purple loose leaf lettuce, rainbow carrots, rainbow spinach' tomatoes and then a bit more. Eating a lot less carbs as well.

i'm genuinely surprised how quickly one can add weight on holidays. Went from a size 46 to a size 34 in the last 6 to 7 months but it only took about 3 weeks of holiday feasting to go back up to 36 maybe 37. Went from eating roughly 250grams of meat once a day for most of those few months, twice went 7 day fasts and a few times skipped a day or two of eating. During the holidays was basically eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with snacking in between. Candy, bread, potatoes, etc...

If you return to and maintain your healthy routine, the gained holiday weight drops quickly. I gained 6 lbs over the last holiday weekend. 6 lbs initially took me about a month to lose, but resuming my healthy routine burned off the newly gained 6 lbs in 4 days.

Dehydration and lack of salt can cause aches and pains. Keep searching for health strategies you can try. It is amazing how all the knowledge you need can't be found in one place. I believe you need to study two main areas: ancestral diet AND ketogenic diet along with intermittent fasting. An absolutely great book with the whole diet picture that gets the whole body, from top to bottom, healthy is Dr. Chris Knobbe's book = Ancestral Dietary Strategy to Prevent and Treat Macular Degeneration. = Turns out, if the diet gives you healthy eyes it takes the whole body with it! With these basics you can move into low carb and intermittent fasting (both of which are important). And then, heaven help us, is exercise. As you can see this is no overnight job. I've been at it since 1998 but my habits are golden (except for the bloomin' exercise). Oh, yes . . . if you can consult with a good naturopathic doctor it would help to get some individual instruction.

I’ve been on a low carb (150g) diet for 3 months. Most of the weight I have lost is all lower body. Pants and short fall off me, thighs are a lot thinner but very little difference in t-shirt sizing. Obviously tops fit more comfortably but the losses up top are no where near the same as down below. I just assumed I would loose a bit of fat from every where at once, not mainly one area.

I drink very little alcohol, I get plenty of sleep. I generally eat twice a day, normally a flap jack for dinner and beans and sausage for evening meal (about 120g of carbs) leaving some carbs for drinks. If I’m off work I’ll have a small (15g carbs) yogurt for breakfast. Obviously beans and 2 sausage isn’t all I eat, but being quick and easy to make, it’s my go to meal.

Calories in calories out. Diet, sleep, exercise, all this plays into how many calories you burn in a day or consume. Just be active and smart about what you consume. No gimmicks or fancy words. It breaks down all the science behind it but ultimately comes down to calories in calories out in the end.

Comes down to calories don't you agree? -500 reduced calories per day would be a pound of fat a week, or a good paced 5-6 miles walk will burn around 500 for a 150lb person. Everything you say is great though, too many people do all 10 things in that list and it can be difficult to get stop, especially sugar. I rarely have cane sugar now, just fruits, veggies, rice, potatoes, beans, lentils, bake my own bread, homemade pizza, etc. I do deep fry food sometimes using peanut oil.

What about allulose and monk fruit sweetener (stevia)? You have said that using these doesn't present a physical problem as much as it generates a sort of wrong messaging to the body, (like feeding an addiction?). Please clarify. For instance: I will have 2 to 4 cups of tea per day (and sometimes a cup of coffee) with the tiniest scoop of stevia. What's wrong with this?

Each morning I start with 250 ml of water with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, a touch of sea salt, and stir in 2 tablespoons of psyllium husks and drink it immediately then drink another glass of 250 ml of water. I usually have a good bowel movement about an hour later. I'm good on all 10 points except #2 Be sedentary is a weak area. I'm a senior and I eat smart during the day. Usually all healthy foods except 1 treat a day in food and 1 can of beer. My gut healthy has always been good. I always wanted to be slim or not fat because I wouldn't respect myself if I was fat. It's not attractive to be fat and it is unhealthy and it is a choice that I don't choose for myself.

I doubt he's going to do it and i'll tell you why: I tried it last year at exactly this time... I watched all the videos, read all the forums, and i Did Not take the warnings seriously. Trust me, it IS dangerous. Yes, it carries certain benefits that can't really be realized any other way (i believe). But it's not something Any medical professional should be condoning, even with the warnings, because it is just too easy to take it too far. I'm talking about DEATH here, not regret or negative side effects. Proceed at your own peril ~

Dear Dr. Ekberg, thank you very much for this very enlightening information. I have the following questions: Sugar substitutes: I am currently testing the replacement of sugar with the sugar alcohols xylitol and erytrite. What effect do they have on the body's metabolism, especially on the liver? Is this a sensible alternative? Fish: depending on their origin, significant amounts of heavy metals such as mercury and cadmium have been found in many types of fish (including salmon, cod, mackerel and cod). How dangerous is this for a healthy diet? Side effects at the beginning of the dietary change: during the first three months of the dietary change I experienced a kind of sugar withdrawal symptom despite appropriate preparation (whole grains, oatmeal, etc.). Is this normal? How can I counteract this?

Point 8 is, "eat all day": If I eat the same amount and composition of a daily ration; Is it better to eat several small meals in order to achieve several smaller insulin peaks? Or are very few meals with higher insulin peaks better? Because isn't it the same in total, because the same amount of insulin is released throughout the day? Or is the breakdown of carbohydrates not linear?

I am 51 years old man, 5'11' tall and until my late 40s I was always in top shape (buddy fat under 10%) since I worked out a lot and did a lot of hiking and backpacking since I live in the Pacific North West of the US. When I entered into my 50s I slowed down (shoulder injury) and within a year I went from 172lbs fit to 188lbs pot-belly guy. Three months ago I decided to get back to my original shape. I went to the gym every day (90 minutes divided in 60 minutes of heavy lifting and 30mins of cardio) and put myself on a very strict diet. I ate 2 meals a day composed of protein (meat, eggs, goat yogurt) and veggies. I was taking only 1,200 to 1,600 calories a day. After gym I was taking 40g protein powder. Within 3 months I lost all my pot belly, my six pack is back and I am down to 170lbs. I have never felt better in my life than these days. I feel so energetic that some people are suspecting I am on some stimulus or "Colombiana". The only supplement I take is vitamin D because our area in the winter does not have much sun light, vitamin B complex and glucosamine (for my bones). I am now convinced that the biggest enemy for our health is sugar and by eliminating sugar (absolutely eliminate any sugar in your coffee, no candies, no cakes) one can achieve amazing results.
