Mustang driver here. My car is a gen 2 coyote on a Lund racing 93 tune with a JLT intake for those wondering. I am the same driver from the race against the R8 and F430 for comparison. Thanks Sam for the opportunity and setting all this up!
@@tylerdbrown20 centerforce dual friction clutch. I love this clutch. I have never had a lockout since I got it 12k km ago. A little heavier and noisier than stock but not by much
I'll add that it reminded me of when myself and 2 buddy's were in Mexico last year and the 3 of us raced (tuned FiST, tuned Fusion Sport and my EN), lots of fun🏁😇❗️
@@kiastingergt2231 🙄 why u mad? On the street, that's most likely the type of vehicles you will see lining up on an average day. Well I just noticed stinger was in your name so that explains it all.
@KiaStingerGT but the thing is this, when your out in the real world it's like that. I'm 53 and been into cars my whole life and I've always said "there's 10 cars you can beat and there's 10 cars that can beat YOU". On this day the Stinger won some, lost some, no big deal👈
Petition to keep this form of videos Sam. Sooooooooooo much better man. Less talking, more straight into racing, less different angle cameras that make viewers start having headaches of the same race... this here just works.
@@samsungshield1297 I’ve given this channel shit in the past before, but Sam has a good thing going on a great platform. I think if he interviewed the drivers before and they have a full (and exact) mod list, that would add some time to the video and would be worthwhile content. The difference between some tunes can be up to 100hp on some cars and we’d never know. Mentioning things like the tuner, actual hp and torque at the wheels, what tires they’re running, dragy/vbox/racebox numbers are a great way to show that this channel is downright serious. I’ve been here since the channel barely had any subs and I’d love to see it blossom into a true car enthusiasts channel, not just for new guys
Stinger owner here, but at the end of the day, all 3 cars are amazing. Just have to accept each strength and weakness, they enjoy what you have as always. All 3 are very modifiable and fun to drive indeed!
It seems for the roll though bro like your reaction time was horrible or like you weren’t even trying. I own a tuned 2020 RWD Stinger GT and I’ve done way better
Na at the end of the day the only amazing car is the type r….2 liter 4 cylinder vs those boats that would wrap around a pole on the first turn they have to take…Type R shots on both cars doesn’t matter if it’s from a roll or if it’s on a track. How does it feel to get shat on by a 2 liter😂😭💀
AWD Stinger GT owner here. Mine has a JB4 running Map 3 with E30, Eibach lowering springs, front and rear sway bars, borla exhaust and AEM intakes. The car is a beast! Not surprised at the result here. The best part about being a Stinger owner is seeing the looks on peoples faces when they realize a Kia emblem was on the beast that just passed them by. Most underrated car out right now. Those that know, know.
It seems the Type-R driver made head start and you made late start in every roll races so the difference was *gigantic*. If all cars started at the same time the difference in gapping would be much smaller.
I wish dyno operators across the world just used WHP figures. If the type R was genuinely making 480bhp or whatever number was given to the customer, this car would be smoking both the mustang and stinger because of how light it is.
Stinger driver here. I had a conservative ecu tune at the time with intakes, intercooler, cat back exhaust. I had bad spark plugs and was misfiring. Now I currently have same mods as before but got a updated ecu tune with jb4 custom map 6 along with a tcu tune. Thank you to @samcarlegion for the opportunity
@@RVRoy1000 this race I was only on 94 octane was on a conservative ecu tune and used map 6 to add 2lbs of boost. Was on old densos so i kept misfiring. But yeah I do e30 blends at times. Hoping to do e30 with wmi in the summer
@@lawrenceredden9049 The sheer weight of it and the lowest power output of the three were still surprising. A roll just predicably showed the highest weight, and the lowest output wasn't going to produce good results. Now bring a Stinger with ~500bhp and 420 Torque and it might do better on a roll and have more equal power to weight.
It always surprises me when people say stuff like ‘I can’t believe the Civic kept up!’. People need to realise that the FK8/Type R is no joke. It’s got crazy top end power and it’s FWD for a reason. It’s designed to be a track car, FWD reduces the weight. If Honda wanted to make a car designed for digs and drags and traffic light boy racer style races then Honda would be producing AWD Type-R’s. I drive an FK8 and I love it. A bullet proof engine, slick gearbox, unreal handling. What’s not to love?
@@duanebailey6253 no but you can’t slide around when ever you want you have to bein flying with speed to slide wanna drift around the rain and onto the on-ramps when it’s raining also I just personally prefer the way we will drive cars handle. I have a supercharged 8th gen with the stock k20z3 bin supercharged for a wile and I can definitely left foot brake and get it out but not as long as I would like and not as practical
Are all the power figures dyno tested on the same dyno? Civic seems nowhere close to it's claimed output. Was expecting it to gap the other 2, atleast in the roll races.
The Stinger isn't underrated. The issue is no one buys them. My guess it's the price for a small feeling hatchback. My reference is regarding the rear seating. Solid performance for the GT2 since the GT3 was dropped for 2023. But at $55,000. Not the best 4 door family sedan considering sedans have become less and less popular with sedan sells going to sporty SUVs available for less money. Now with EV's added to the Kia mix. The Stingers days are numbered.
I mean it took it to be fbo. And saying only fast 5.0 is idiotic. There are plenty of fast 5.0s. Kids like you need to stop watching youtube and looking up 0-60 times and visit a track. Lmfao and this coming from a guy with a charger in his pic.
Even though the Stinger is heavier, I guessed it would win from a dig with a good start as that auto transmission is strong and will gain a few tenths for every pull, other than the second race, he also had the best starts. The weight, lower torque and the auto really hurts it on the roll race as shown. The civic looks like it makes peak power and torque higher in the rev range which is tough to keep at in the first few geaes, especially if they are longer, but you could see the power hitting near the end of the race when he was probably holding longer in the 5500+ rev range. Mustang is solid n/a muscle that does well in both areas and results were more based on reaction times. Really impressive how 3 completely different cars are so very close. I would love to see a rematch with a few more races in each discipline and I think anyone could win any brace depending on reaction times
Can you do an Elantra N dct vs manual? As it is probably the only attainable new enthusiast car available with both, it would be quite an interesting comparison.
Very impressed with the Type R. I assumed it would just end up being the camera car but it was right there in every race. Wonder what the result would be if that was a 10 speed Mustang with the same tune in drag strip mode they hook up really well.
Lol i love and appreciate this channel but can we just change the name to Stinger Takes on All Comers. They seem to love including the stinger in all their videos lol
Unless the Type R is Running Ethanol or an upgraded Fuel system there's no possible way for it to make 480bhp, if you account for drivetrain loss that's about 408whp. Without ethanol, or methanol, or a new fuel system the Type R maxes out at about 380whp
If all stock, Stinger wins all the digs and comes in second to the Mustang in all the rolls. That being said u give the Stinger 480 HP and it spanks them both on all races.
The Stinger is accelerating like its stock. If it was tuned, it would have flown away from the other two cars. Bring the stock white one for a re-race and you will see it's the same outcome.
The Stinger had a tune only, the Civic and Mustang had more modifications done. Give the Stinger a Tune, intercooler, exhaust and the intakes then re-run the races. Fair is fair.
Damn that KIA Stinger let them get the sting for sure! 😂 Didn’t expect that outcome at all. I thought the Civic was going to win given the power to weight ratio of the 3.
@@burgerbandit3646 I don't think that's a sufficient explanation, at least not without further evidence. I saw their reply saying as much, but that car isn't making that much power except on a Dyno, which is meaningless. You put that against other cars of similar power to weight ratios, and it's getting absolutely gapped. That's not say it isn't impressive, but if your car can only work once in the most ideal of conditions, then it's disingenuous to advertise it at that power level. A stock Prius can make 500whp once.
@KamikazeSOF2 heatsoaking is a real thing and is a reasonable explanation for me. Yes, cars should be able to perform their duties in repetition but these are also daily vehicles and not race cars. Even actual drag cars become heatsoaked after multiple back 2 back passes with no time to cool off.
@@burgerbandit3646 I understand that, but even the first race didn't show that the Type R is putting out those sort of numbers. Again, not trying to shit on the guy, but I need more than a claimed Dyno run to believe that thing is putting down anywhere close to 435 wheel. Any Type R making 400+ wheel would absolutely shit on a bolt on/tune 6 speed manual Gen 2 Coyote. You're not getting much from the tune on the Coyote.
The only thing I got from this video was to buy an automatic if you plan to drag race. Manual cars waste too much time between shifts in a test of raw acceleration.
