Xiomara’s walk really was absolutely scary though…. I remember being so unnerved as a kid when I saw her eyes flashing around 😂😂

I actually don’t hate the idea of models chosing their photos and then confronting it with how the advertisers think/choose as an exercise to help them understand the differrence and possibly implement that to posing so they get more ad-valuable shots during photoshoot. I really enjoy your channel❤

Shandi's own chosen picture almost feels ahead of its time - it looks so modern and cool. The one they chose for the ad is much more 2000s advertisement, but not better.

This was a cool concept. This is why I (almost) like the earlier seasons better cuz it felt more natural of the industry than later seasons where it got more comical and animated all for reality TV. Including Tyra. And Jay.

You’re so kind. You can tell you have a good heart. Each time they said something derogatory to the model about their weight you noticeably would flinch or cringe.

I mean it certainly wasn’t the nicest way to describe how she looked, but it also wasn’t wrong either. She definitely was giving possessed vibes with a bit of praying mantis at the end of the walk. 😭😂💀

Jay being all "I think Shandi could definitely benefit from a makeup lesson" you've gotta remember this was pre youtube. The best you had was like, magazines showing a 10 step eye look or something. I remember learning to do a smoky eye from ANTM. It was the makeup videos back in the day and they normally still glossed over it.

You should watch an episode in cycle 18, where they also let the models pick their own outfits and photos, and also there’s a lot of drama during that panel! I think it’s episode 3

Shandi......the girl from Walgreens. I still remember the episode when she and her boyfriend got into that heated argument about him wanting to go see a movie with a married friend and she cheated on him.

I actually don't mind them showing the models the photo an advertiser would choose vs the ones they did. I think -- if this was a show that was seriously trying to make them better models instead of creating constant drama -- it could help them learn their "blind spots." It's really easy to think you're doing everything right when you could be doing something better if nobody shows you, and this is kind of an instant visual demonstration of that.

I desperately need Jessica and Luxeria to collab and react to an episode together 🙏🏻 I love both of their takes and having a photographer’s and a makeup artist’s pov at the same time would be so cool 💕

Having them pick and then showing the one the advertiser would pick allows for learning. Seeing the difference between what they think is good vs what the client wants.

Always bugs me that they roast their walls like that. There are plenty of professional models out there whose walk was trash at the beginning, and they're literally top models.

Xiomara did look scary as she walked down. If she had been walking towards me, I might have been wondering if she was on something like Ms. J or that she was possessed like Nigel. I guess she was trying to look intense, but it just looked scary.

The girl with one leg over the other didn't get enough credit. What she did made me actually notice the shoes and a lot of the girls didn't do that as well or at all.

They would let the photos the models pick, and then compare to what lux would've chosen, and teach them what to look for, and even "this is what a photographer wants" or "this is what an add supposed to look"

You should react to the episode of the same season (I’m almost positive) where they pose nude and body painted and two girls refuse and get yelled at. Also one girl oversleeps and they leave her at the house without telling her

This one seems the most realistic so far, granted I'm only a few minutes in but I agree, I always do my own hair & Makeup. Most of the time I choose what to wear but when your paid to do a shoot sometimes the photographer has a certain concept in mind but at the same time they still work with you so usually it's messaging & talking sometimes months beforehand so you get all the details right but yes, most times we choose what we want to wear. I also think the greatest thing a photographer can do is if they notice your not relaxing your shoulders or something like that is to just tell the model to relax & have fun with it. When your able to relax & let go the photos come out so much better! Thank you for these videos Jessica!! I love them!! I'm so glad I never watched them back then because I probably wouldn't have ever gone into modeling at all and that would be a shame because it's helped me gain so much confidence in myself. It helped me get my self esteem back after a toxic marriage 💜

Agreed about them over editing pictures. It's because of this show I thought my pictures needed to be over edited like theirs to look like a professional, not knowing then what I know now, that doing that was making my portfolio look anything BUT. Jessica, THAT look from Xiomara right there is why I said they didn't need to paint her skin darker to portray Grace Jones in that hideous photoshoot. She could have given us the essence of Grace Jones with absolutely no problem. Maybe that was why they chose Grace Jones for her in the first place, which I would completely agree with IF they hadn't also painted her skin.

Walking is super important for Go sees, so while harsh some of the criticism about runway walk and trying to have a more simple, clean appearence (think Jeans and Tank top) is important, because these help you get hired.

Ok, I just was searching on Amazon in the Women's Plus size for some new clothes, and I SWEAR the majority of the pictures were of the same yt woman, and all they did was edit her size to look like different people. All the other models weren't even "plus" size based on their body. They sinched all their waists and gave them curves. Please PLEASE do a video on the insaneness of this, because either they took actual plus sized models and got rid of their tummies, or they took regular sized models and gave accentuated their cures to be "plus" size.

Watching this episode again gave me an idea for a ahoot for you: How you shoot differently (and the model poses differently) depending in the type of shoot. So example how you would shoot if its a produvt add or portrait or whatever really! That my idea, its all yours 😊❤️

The reason they got the models to choose a photo and then have the photographers choose another is due to perceived control (at least from a psychological standpoint)

I think with Xiomara all they did was insult her instead of saying why and what she can do better. It looks to me like she was trying to have intensity in her eyes and because it’s one of her first times trying she ended up looking more bug eyed because she was so focused on trying to look intense. I wish they had given her tips to get the expectation she wanted to accomplish rather than just calling her possessed and like she looked like she was on crack. It was clear to me what she was trying to do and I don’t see how the judges wouldn’t have saw that attempt and not have been able to give constructive feedback.

I'm obssesed with finding unreleased pictures from all the seassons of ANTM, cause' this was the only time the girls got to choose the pictures and we were able to see a variety of them on the computer. Tyra chose the photos that were more convenient for the show (good or bad depending on the narrative). I know we will never be able to see other pics 😢

I like they got to see the pictures because then they’ll think about “what is a good pose idea” vs “what is a good pose idea that photographs well”

I think what might have done was have the models choose their top 5 and rank them and then the post editing company was the one that chose out of the 5 which they thought was best so it would be interesting to see if the model and the production company picked the same photo
