If you’re preparing to serve a mission, recently returned home from a mission, or want to know about missionaries, this episode is for YOU!
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), many young adults choose to serve a mission for the Church. (Check out the videos below for more information on LDS missions:)) It may sound like fun to be on your own in a new city (and sometimes country), teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. But what are the challenges? Do missionaries ever want to go home?
In this episode, Taylor and Sam talk about what it’s like to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ. They talk about the expectations, the rules, and how it feels to frequently fall short. They are completely transparent about being a missionary!
Did you serve a mission? Or have you ever felt a little inadequate? Let us know what you have learned in the comments below!!

Nice! It is awesome when people serve on a mission. I’m a Catholic, but I’m talking to some LDS missionaries now, and, as someone is a former missionary, too, I enjoy learning about the missionary lives of others!

I struggled mightily on my mission. Like a daily struggle. I'm for sure glad I did it, but I was ready to come home after a month.

A lot of missionaries felt like that. That is totally a normal feeling. You pushed through it though, and I'm sure you also had some wonderful times too. I think Heavenly Father is pleased: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

@@KevlarX2 for sure, memories were made that I look back on with pure fondness. I visited my mission last year with my wife and it was incredible. But for 90% during my mission I was on the brink of a mental breakdown. It was exhausting

@@toddgeorge7421 my bf has to go on his mission in 2yrs and he’s already having mental breakdowns thinkings he’s going to lose me while on his mission for 2yrs, but I’m telling him I’m gonna stay loyal, focus on my academic studies, etc. it’s going to be hard…which we both realize since apparently he can only send letters on weekends or something. I was wondering if you, having first hand experience being on a mission, would think that things with him and I could work out?

@toddgeorge7421 2 года назад
@@LPSAANDLPSLVids I can tell you that it will be very challenging at times, but it can work. My wife waited for me and we were married 2 years after I came home. Now that I've been home for almost 13 years, looking back, it's amazing how short 2 years really is. My #1 piece of advice is write your bf weekly. It will help a ton.

@@toddgeorge7421 thank you so much for the advice. I’m just kinda lost right now and I know I still have 2years till he leaves to serve his mission, but I am starting to worry🙁…because he keeps bringing up wanting to marry me, and I am just so scared something is going to happen to us while he is on his mission. I mean I know what is meant to be will be, but 2years is just so long I’ve heard stories where the guys come home from their mission and they are just completely different people. Coming from someone who is not a part of the church, I think the mission gives him time to mature and mature in his faith, but at the same time I’m just really scared because we love each other so much we are each other’s best friends and I am totally willing to wait for him and personally for me, it would be disappointing if I did wait, work out, and end up breaking up, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world because I don’t know if I’d be dating anyway if I wasn’t with him so it’s not like he’s holding me back. Im worried that others will get in his head though, saying he shouldn’t have a girlfriend while on his mission😟… because he overthinks a lot I’m worried he’d let the voices get in his head. I’m just confused on the whole communicating with him like I get once a week but I don’t know how long I get, etc. also the video calls for family I’m confused about… I thought it was only on Mother’s Day and Christmas for the families and hopefully his fam would let me come over, but when I looked it up it was saying something different…Ahh. I’m just trying to prepare myself so when the time does come for his mission, I’ll know what I’m doing and I don’t really know who to ask about this stuff. Thank youuu!!

I served in Michigan. The so called: (Anti-Mormon capital of the world). Us missionaries called it the greatest mission in the world, which I'm sure every mission says that though. 😉 It was both some of the greatest times and some of the hardest times of my life. I'm glad I went through it though. It really builds the person you will become. The type of person Heavenly Father wants in his church as leaders. It prepares you for life, service, marriage, career, everything. 😎

Loved this! My boyfriend just started the MTC and I’m very curious to see what new struggles he faces in his mission due to the pandemic, compared to pre-pandemic missionaries. This was so helpful because at the end of the day, pandemic or pre-pandemic, it’s good to remember that the numbers are not the ultimate goal or purpose of a mission.

@@jamesoneil1388 The author of that article was David, a host of Saints Unscripted. As he said in the article, he has a book dealing with the points in detail. Why don't YOU read that. Read the Book of Mormon also with an open mind. If you have the truth, you can't be harmed.
@jacobreeves3110
@jacobreeves3110 3 года назад
@@KevlarX2 I also read the Book of Mormon with an open mind. I used to be a devout evangelical Christian, and I'm naturally interested in Religion and theology. I don't intend to attack anyone, or their faith. These are healthy conversations to have for both sides. Because in the end, we both know it all comes down to FAITH. Either you believe or you don't, regardless of the facts. Even I continue praying even though I don't believe they're answered. So I can sympathize with you. Now when it comes to the CES letter, each individual fact (posed as a question that has no answer other than fraud) is so strong it's hard to debate. So hard in fact that Mormons have to write it off as completely false, so as not to uproot their faith. For me, I guess it's really the changing doctrines that get me. For example blacks weren't allowed into the priesthood, as I'm sure you know. But Joseph Smith allowed it, it was Brigham Young and his successors who created and continued that doctrine until the 80s when God "changed his mind." Archaeology is the biggest nail in the coffin imo. Regardless you can still believe that this God exists. If he does, then all things are possible. So don't let me or anyone else get in the way of that. Especially if you're happy. But don't be afraid of the truth.
@jacobreeves3110
@jacobreeves3110 3 года назад
@@davidjanbaz7728 I appreciate your concern but I'm not Mormon. The only religion I would even consider is Christianity (probably Protestant) only because they have the most compelling theology. But in the end most of these things aren't supported by Archeology, genetics, linguistics and much more. I could go all day as to why I'm more of a deist now, but i won't bore you. Im still pro- religion, but I look for the truth no matter how it makes me feel.

Missions are absolutely traumatic, sometimes by design. I was lucky enough to have a mission president with a very kind and big heart. It is a sort of "hazing" type of experience and tends to lead to greater levels of conviction - which is probably the point. I always thought that it was crazy that old people don't actually preach the gospel, but of course by that age they don't need the trauma to ensure commitment. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Islam The Beautiful Religion ( Be Just ) Quran 5:8 '' O you who believe! stand out firmly for God, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the HATRED OF OTHERS TO YOU make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear God. For God is well-acquainted with all that ye do. '' Quran 4:58 '' Indeed, God commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which God instructs you. Indeed, God is ever Hearing and Seeing.'' ( God's The Rules Of War ) Quran 2:190 '' Fight in the way of God THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU but do not transgress. Indeed. God does not like transgressors. '' Quran 2 :193 '' And fight them on until there is no more oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. '' Quran 4:90 ''.........So if they withdraw from you and cease their hostility and offer you peace, in that case Allah has not granted you permission to fight against them.'' Quran 8:61 ''And if they seek peace, then you also seek it, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable.'' ( Stand Up For Justice ) Quran 4 :135O '' Ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against YOURSELVES, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for God can best protect both. ( Who Are The Good Human Beings? ) Quran 177 '' Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in God, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, IN SPITE OF LOVE FOR IT, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives charity; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Quran16:97 “To whoever, male or female, does good deeds and has faith, We shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions. We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). ( All The Racist People Will Enter Hellfire ) Quran 30:22 "And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge." My comment: The '' BASIC '' message of God to the human is that '' YOU '' believe in God and be kind to other human beings / animals and in the RETURNED God will reward you with a new life in Paradise. * The Quran ONLY guides you how to become a good human being "Nothing Else". * You are a good human being or a bad human being that is YOUR choice. * No one can force you to become a good human being. * You MUST work HARD to become a good human being. * Why should ''YOU'' do good deeds and avoid bad deeds?. * Do Good - it's for You. Do Bad - It's against you. * '' YOUR'' life is a TEST from God that you will choose to do either Good or Bad. * Find the excuse to help others and forgive others NOT the other way around. * '' YOUR '' final destination is either Hell or Heaven. * So work HARD toward choice of YOUR destination.. Quran 17:7 " If you do good, you will do so for your own good. And if you do evil, it will be to your own loss."
