It’s not only a sentence nonono! It’s also an idea someone had and then that someone presented it to other people that APPROVED that idea! And after that that idea was sent to more people who animated and voiced that idea! And after all of that SOME MORE PEOPLE APPROVED IT AND THEN IT GOT RELEASED
It's basically what wrestlers do. We all know a vast majority of it is scripted and plenty of moves are done in ways to actually minimize the damage to the wrestlers but still things like physical strain happen from these hundreds of pound guys lifting other hundreds of pounds guys, maybe someones timing is off or their body is not where they should be or maybe miscommunication between the wrestlers happens and one wants to throw the guy over the ropes but the guy getting thrown wants to go under and maybe a punch that was only supposed to look like it connected ends up actually connecting and now both guys are covered in blood, they both put their all in to the match solely for the fans enjoyment even at the cost of potentially years of their life. Then as if nothing has happened you got the guy that won the match, now missing one of his front teeth stand tall holding the championship belt over his head and they give him a microphone so he can say "Now, place your hand on my chest."
Xenoblade 1 definitely did the "losing to an enemy in a cutscene" thing better by only letting you get them to half HP or so and making them a higher level so it was a struggle to actually get there. No idea why in 2 they decided to make you go through an entire health bar and watch them fucking die right in front of you only for them then to shit on you in a cutscene.
I THINK they do this so you didn't think "Holly shit, i need to get his health to 0? Better go grind" when you actually don't need to. Probably they made this so they could use the Rage mechanic, if the bosses only got to 1/2 the health,, they would not activate it. -- SPOILER ALLERT FROM XENO 2 -- But is strange cause they sometimes do it like in Xeno 1, like in the fight when you get the awakened Pyra/Mythra. I thought i was too weak for Malos and Jin together and go out to do more quests and grind, but actually i just needed to take down less then 1/2 the HP of one of them.
@@adv78, maybe, but even so, if they did it early on, you'd probably get it. In 1 it happens in the 1st metal face fight so you understand that it may happen again, especially against certain enemies established to be beyond you. They could have done the same with the ch. 1 malos fight and we'd expect later in the game and not go grind
@@benwykes4736 Yeh, i'm not defending this decision. I'm just pointing out what they should have thinked. Btw, i am a huge fan of Xenoblade 1, being my favorite RPG and one of my favorite games of all time, played Xeno 2 last week, and just now seeing the reception in the internet, i'm being seeing A LOT of hate for the game. Personally, i think the game has its problems, weabb as hell, worst story than the first, bosses winning in the cutscene after lose in the fight, etc. But i also thinks despite that is a really good game, and some things, i even prefer than one, like the combat system being more tactical and more strategical. The first game is better in most ways, but i'm seeing a toxical side of the 1's fanbase that i did not see before, hating some things just cause their different and some free hate without much reason in some areas. It's just me or this is really a thing?
@@buzter8135 Are you kidding? The voice acting for the bosses and the side characters are phenomenal! Just so much emotion and subtlety within each character.
@@thesnatcher3616 I was speaking positively about dark souls, in case you're referring to xenblade, its standard but it clashes with some horrendous dialogue and that is painful to listen to.
It might seem like Dunkey is exaggerating the number of tutorials, but this game gives you a tutorial 80 hours into the game in the final goddamn chapter.
Some Guy to be fair its for a story mechanic added then. The main tutorials are over by around the 16th hour as he said (he shows tutorials from earlier after that point)
@Shaman Xeed Or, getting a tutorial 16 hours into the game is just bad game design when so much of the play time is already dedicated to so much reading. I'm 30 hours into the first Xenoblade and I never felt like I've had to read through as many tutorials as Xenoblade 2 through at me in 15.
@Shaman Xeed How am I being a hypocrite? The game doesn't pace out any of its systems properly like the first does, and the tutorials are even overly convoluted and poorly explained. Xenoblade 2 does not achieve having fun gameplay until around 20-30 hours in, even by admission of some of its more die-hard fans. Players who picked up Xenoblade and Xenoblade X, myself included, had a game up and running within the first hour or so and those games stayed enjoyable throughout. Like what Reggie said, "If your game is not fun, why bother?"
@Josh Thorpe there's a few I like. I liked the couple Final Fantasys I've played, and a few Dragon Quests. Scarlet Nexus is pretty good too. But ya, they can be really hard to like a lot of the time for me. They usually have fantastic interesting worlds, stories, and characters. But they also make you cringe harder than anything else. Dialog can be really weird and awkward, and have way too much of it. Game mechanics and menus can also be equally weird and overly complicated for no real reason. And they often feel... clunky. Soak up a ton of time and full of padding and general BS. But there are definitely good ones out there.
@@sawdust8691 It sounds like you should try the first 2 Fallout games. They're pretty much JRPGs with none of the "cringe" elements you describe. I'm also going to toss in an obligatory "Try New Vegas" because it really is as good as people say.
@@superbodoque7860 basically, the two women fuse together to become a single OPAF giga-woman. This gigawoman then calls an orbital strike from a Gundam with enough power to glass a planet that she has a neural link to. Cool, huh?
*main character logic* No, I can’t fight him. He’s too powerful. But I’ll will shout so loud at the last minute attack that I can win by the power of friendship.
@@jarrettmaltry6305 well games/anime are an escape of reality and I don't know why people don't like it when there are big-chested girls or maybe I am just too weebish?
Actually, it could be slightly more JRPG. They could've kept the voice lines in Japanese. Or, if they DID decide to dub it, give EVERYONE boring American accents. Like, sure, they may be terrifying but I appreciate the British accents in the actual dub.
Clearly you’ve never heard of Trails of Cold Steel where the main character was adopted by nobles, got trained by a legendary sword master, wields a katana, has special *teleports behind u* “psh nothing personal, kid” powers and he pilots a super special gundam. He can choose to pursue a romantic relationship with virtually all of the girls he knows, who are all ridiculously attractive of course, including his sensei. Most of the girls are thirsty for him but none more so than his adopted little sister, who orgasms a little just from hearing his name. This powerful thirst has also infected the princess of the empire who the little sister is best friends with. Oh, and in the later games he becomes a teacher and can sleep with his students. Also the protagonists of the previous games in this universe (most of whom are far more well rounded characters) show up to suck his dick. Men tremble and kill themselves out of hopelessness just from hearing his signature “Haha...” Women who hear it are instantly converted to his harem forever afterward, disregarding all previous romantic relationships for him. His name is Rean Schwarzer, and men everywhere pray they never run into him.
@@mental_breakdance7227 it's due to the fact that dunkey still thinks very poorly of the character as seen on his reaction to her being in smash. At least that's what I assume the comment meant
Seriously, not even the main character though. Not only is it another anime sword fighter, it isn't even the main character. Great job Nintendo, thanks for listening!
Gordon Freemason I never realized how terrible the English lyrics were 😂 Ik the German is pretty good, and I absolutely love the instrumentals probably even more than xenoblade 2.
Unfortunately the worst songs are the ones you'll hear the most, NLA themes case in point, but the rest of the soundtrack is pretty good. Like others have said, the boss songs and area themes in particular are great.
I remember having a string of epic, challenging, but fair fights that I got through taking me 20 minutes, and literaly as soon as I ended and started walking away I got one shot by a bird I couldnt even hit.
Yeah this game has a real pacing problem with the villians, you're dealing with essentially the same team of villians for the entire game, so they keep finding ways to make you win but still lose, it's not well structured
@@chuckbatman5 They should have just given most boss +100% HP, but then make the cutscenes start when they are at 50%. But I mean that would be even more annoying if it happened many times.
No, they all aggroed you on sight. What games did you play? The difference here is that this Rotabart moves lightning fast across a huge area of the map. Hayreddin was fast, but he stuck in one specific area area, and Rotbart from X1 was indeed slow. But they always have aggroed on sight.
yea i much prefer when games make the fight itself impossible so the cutscene feels appropriate, it just never makes sense when games let you win a fight that you lose as soon as the cutscene starts
at least this game doesn't have dragged out game over/ loading like other jrpgs, it just goes straight to the checkpoint, which is usually not too far from where you got ko'ed.
Garchomp Chump yeah I never understood why games did that. I can understand games having people go far back progress-wise to make a game more difficult, but going back to the title screen seems excessive unless there was a technical reason for it, which honestly shouldn't be an excuse for any console/or computer past the snes.
It’s still poor design, since it’s like that in all three games and attacks are numbers based and not contact based, so it makes it impossible to run away and dodge their line of sight.
Weebs have a massive persecution complex. They especially can't handle being on the receiving end of jokes as nowadays they're usually the ones attacking everyone else's tastes.
I swear most anime shit relies on either the girls or the fighting. Why can't I just have a deformed muscular goblin woman fighting a super huge dog or something?
“Why does the Furby that talks like Jar Jar Binks have a sex slave robot?” My entire family stared at me for a good 2 minutes because I was laughing so hard
Bacon Ball He has said in past videos that he is bias against RPGs. I like the game as well but everything he said in the video is true and are common problems to JRPGs...
Therapist Thomas Missing the point mate. The game has tutorials until the final chapter... Not to mention this stupid buying tutorials that you want to see again crap.
See but it's not really a "new mechanic". Yes, those are the words I used but they're not really accurate. The "mechanic" that is introduced is not anything super new, just a slight change to the way you play (if you so choose). If you know what "mechanic" I'm referring to you probably agree.
I would be angry at you but I’m guessing your new to the franchise so expect some nudity and half naked stuff...don’t worry Xenoblade fans like me are used to that kind of crap....The wiiu version....lemme just say that game....I-I’m glad it was censored because 1 outfit actually showed a woman’s boobs....and yeah....I Bought the outfit...what?! The outfit had great defence. So yeah I really hope you enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles 2...now if you excuse me...I-I’m gonna continue my 543 hour journey of Xenoblade Chronicles 2...Baw Bye.
^ In most asian countries public schools teach you enough english for you to be able to read. When it comes to speaking and listening you get barely any practice at all. I'd imagine Japan is this way too.
Commander Grayson This is a fine example that the fan-service in this game is a *bit* too much. The first game had jiggle physics but the default clothing didn't and you could always change to whatever you wanted anyways. The problem now is that even the default outfits for the characters are Otaku fap material and falls to many anime tropes instead of being creative like the 1st game.
RadaSmada I doubt the japanese dub was nowhere near that cringey; if you watch Anime and play japanese games you can easily notice that there's something wrong with Japan's vocabulary; it's almost like everything was written by a teens there because the number of repeated words is insanely big and I barely noticed any smart slang unlike in western productions.
turbotrup96 You know that's a pretty accurate description. Like hello over the phone for them is Moshi Moshi Adults in America hate double words but Japan is all about it
People are judgmental. And I mean we all are to some extent whether we like it or not. And if you haven’t watched anime, this game will look extremely strange to most people.
