You see... My mother is dying of cancer and I'm very very poor, Karen took my daughter away. So you see, I'm trying to raise money for both my mother and my daughter, and all I am is a loving family man. "Oh ok! I forgive you for stealing my money and ruining my life! I am so sorry"
"HEY GUYS!!!! PARENTS SUCK RIGHT?!?! HERE'S A DUDE WHO MAKES AN ENTIRE LIVIJG EATING NOTHING BUT CANDY, THE ONE THING YOUR PARENT'S JUST ASKEDNYOU NOT TO DO/TAKE MORE RESPONSIBLY! ISN'T THAT AWESOME!?!?!? DON'T LET YOUR PARENTS SROP YOU FROM LIVING THESE DREAMS, AND JUST REMEMBER THAT I WAS THE TOTALLY AWESOME MOTIVATIONAL DUDE WHO LEAD YOU TO THIS EPIPHANY! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK!" -Every Dharr Mann video in a nutshell.
I love how Dhar Mann tries to portray gaming as this like, incredibly lucrative job that will make you tons of money, when the reality is that the successful streamers and tournament players are less than a fraction of a percent of the playerbase. Not saying their jobs aren't real, mind, but he makes it seem like a get rich quick profession.
@@randomusername1735 Absolutely agreed. I've got nothing against anyone who wants to get into that professionally. Just anyone who does needs to be VERY aware of what it takes. Just like any startup business, you need to be prepared to go years without seeing a single cent, and even then you'll be making minimal amounts until you're really high up there. But if you're responsible about it, like getting a part time job just to pay the bills, then go for it....Dhar Mann is literally causing damage to kids by teaching them this is how to go about their dreams.
A good example is Melee pro players, who even if you were in the top 10, you only made like a thousand dollars versus all the setup you had to get to stay in your best. Till Melee got into Evo, not having a job/backup job would easily make you no money, even if you are great in the game.
@@JeanMarceaux haha now that is insanely accurate, that super narrow view of scenarios with ham fisted morals presented in really iffy ways but hes like..a hybrid of both haha, it is that same hollow promises of an evangelical snake oil salesmen since hes fleecing them for money too or i guess like those insane bible thumpers little comics with caricatures of real life, demonizing D&D or harry potter or saying you'll be a murderer/rapist if you smoke pot or be an atheist haha
It's either that or "you're useful to me, now I no longer hate you". Don't know where the domestic abuse one fits in though, that one's just creepy and gross.
Speaking of Dhar Mann: If he actually gave any kind of a fuck about other people, he'd donate part of his money to charity, not waste it on garbage videos like this and then con his young viewers into buying his shitty, produced in modern day slave labour, merch.
I’m the same when I’m drunk. One time me and my brother were hanging out and we were drinking a little and I started passionately talking about my favorite James Bond themes.
Fade in: Living room, 1971 Mom: "Get out of the house and get looking for a job, son" Son: "Mom you don't understand, I don't want a job I wanna be a rapist" Mom: "What nonsense. How will you pay the bills? Give up on these childish dreams of yours" Son: "Never... I'll never give up on my dream!" Dhar Mann smug VO: "And that kid's name? Jeffrey Epstein"
Well it makes sense for Dhar Mann to have this kind of morality. He grew up in rich as fuck family and was tried and convicted of defrauding the city of San Francisco out of tens of thousands of dollars.
Moral: Stealing is okay, as long as you're good at stuff. Also, undermining your spouse's authority by going behind her back and undoing her punishment is a good thing.
Remember, Dhar doesn't believe anything he says. He made the video to appeal to the 8 year old who's mom took away their 'X-box'. The real problem with this video is he's somehow playing Warzone in COD Ghosts on 360.
It always baffles me how hollywood(and mainstream studios/news channels etc.) Always seem to go out of their way to make sure nothing involving gaming looks remotely realistic The characters are always shouting shit like "WATCH MY 6, WE GOT BOGIES COMING IN!" When actual gamers would say "hey, there's like 5 dudes by that red van across the street" The actors look like aliens who have never seen a controller held If they type, they have to type in a way that reflects the dumbest moods(God fucking help you if the movie has them typing on 2 separate keyboards) They'll always put an exclusive title on the wrong console(so you'll see MGS4 on Xbox, which is not a normal thing at all) And you know what the worst part is? This really just applies to the media in whole. I mean, think of any other topic you're personally educated in, and look at how much the news BUTCHERS that topic(i have no clue what your world view/opinions are, but I know FOR A FACT there's at least a few other topics where people like dhar mann try to cover on TV, and they FAIL at it so badly, and you should realize that's how warped their view is on EVERYTHING, they really that delusional they think this is a decent video/message)
@@mutt9779 Im multiple months late, but the easy explanation is that its people so rich its impossible for them to be in touch with anyone but the elite.
Shout-outs to the guy in my 2011 Sociology class who told me that RU-vid wasn't never going to be a lucrative business for content creators. He was definitely not Dhar Mann Fam.
He wasn’t wrong necessarily, patreon is really what makes it viable. RU-vid partnerships/Adsense on its own isn’t worth it unless you’re Jake Paul or some other equally large personality that RU-vid feels safe to advertise on.
@@buddygang9834 “So you see, how you actually make money off of RU-vid is by doing giveaways to bloat view/like/subscriber count and also defrauding the city of Oakland.”
To be honest Dhar Mann must be either paying RU-vid directly or have some form of direct contact that other users on the platform don't have the privilege of being rich enough to afford. His fraudulent IRL practices and his existence as a non made-for-kids (and therefore profitable) point to him getting a special place on the platform - YT disowned Pewdiepie just for political "controversy", as well as allowing copyright strike spam to take place on channels even at the level of Jacksepticeye and the like. Dhar Mann never has this issue because he's a privileged elite user on the platform, so RU-vid gives him exclusive privileges unavailable for the other, more peasantly users.
Lol I'm not even paying testers on my game because my budget is so low so I don't know why a company would spend the same money they'd pay a 3d artist over a long period of time on 1 game tester. Lol
@@GeoffreyBronson AI won't be able to give feedback on the actual quality and playability of the game for at least decades - if ever - so I wouldn't be so sure about that.
I feel it's been understated how pathetic that grown man is, crying into his pillow that he just got his Xbox taken away. Like a child could do that, but this script doesn't work for a child, so I think Dhar Mann just thinks gamers act like children.
After seeing what their son made playing warzone, both parents quit their jobs and decided to be professional gamers as well. Now, all three are homeless and had to sell their Xboxes for money to buy food. Thanks Dhar Mann fam, and I'll see you in the next video!
I think it's amazing that Dhar Mann, who has pleaded guilty to defrauding the state, doesn't find it immoral for kids to steal from their parents, as long as the end goal is profitable. I don't think he instantly regretted anything in his life.
@@grandarkfang_1482 I'm sorry I don't remember writing this comment, but I agree with what you're saying, I think I meant it as in yms has some similarities to destiny in the way he goes about critiquing things that's all
Do you mean that the channel displays a different name for Indian viewers? I've seen that as a niche feature so channels don't need to have a name with the roman alphabet. I heard that the target is people who speak English as their second language, but don't consider it a defence for the content when it is broadly targeted to get English speakers everywhere. The titles are exchangeable with click bait by English publications in general.
Knowing a few “pro gamers” as it were. It’s a massive investment by parents initially. Driving to tournaments and events that don’t give a lot of money in return. This will go on for years. And you’ll only get money in return if you’re actually really good. Which, is not likely. Holding a side job would definitely help though
@@almond3066 I mean. Depending on how young you start you might have to. Course, not relying on that, yea that helps Although using it without permission? Nah just don’t
Doing any type of sport, relying on it 100% is likely to turn out bad. It should be something to do out of passion and IF it makes money only then pursuit it as a job/career.
I hate the creepy cultish "persons smiles reassuringly at another person because they know something special" bs that Dhar Mann's videos have. It always makes me feel like I am watching propaganda.
Surprised nobody pointed out they misspelled in the upper right "stolen" lmao. Or the fact this guy had CoD: Ghosts in the 360, yet Modern Warfare is what's on the TV.
Do you think in the script Dharr Mann really wanted this to be like a 10 year old or something? Because this totally feels like it's supposed to be like a little kid who doesn't know any better. When you make this a guy in his mid to late 20s then he SHOULD know better! This totally feels like a situation where they wanted to get a kid but there was a scheduling conflict so they just didn't care and put whoever they could get in the role. So now we have 30 year old stoner pro gamer man crying over his mom taking the XBox and it's so weird!
In addition to the whole "presenting gaming as an easy career to make big bucks off of" thing (which many commenters have pointed out), it's pretty messed up how the mom is presented as in the wrong for being mad at her son for using her credit card without asking--especially with the family already in debt. Not that she's a saint, given how she only apologizes and supports her son's ambitions when it starts bringing in a bunch of money (much like the girls-can't-be-gamers video) And yeah, it would've been better to cast a younger actor to play the son's role. If he were younger, it could be assumed he's just started his pursuit of a gaming career, thus explaining his living at home and the video's depicting the mom as being unreasonable. As is, he looks about 30 and it can assumed he's been living at home for years and that the mom is just at her wit's end.
This is the first Dhar Mann video I've watched and I am just gonna take a wild guess that every single relationship problem in his videos could have been solved with basic communication.
This is the most severe example I remember, but that's an accurate assumption. Most of them end with "So you see" sob stories to justify paying off your bully's mom's debt to make them a better person that respects your Twitch streams but it isn't like this can't be summed up as a communication error too.
"Dear Mann is an alien, he's not a human." I love that theory. Also, how old is the son in this video? He has a full mustache and beard and is a competitive player. How does he not have his own credit card to pay for this crap? Edit: "Mom took my X-Box. Boo-Hoo." 😢
@@johnl6192 Might you know when Adum does his Dhar Mann streams by any chance? Been searching on Twitch but I can't understand with schedules and different streams and so on
In Dahr Mann's defense, 50$ is nothing to him after the stole nearly one thousand times that. Of course he doesn't see what's wrong with stealing something so minute.... I feel sickX_X
The alien theory would make sense because darh mann's videos look like it's written by someone who studied humans without ever meeting one...or it might be AI generated
Halfway through this reaction, and right now I'm really hoping that the moral of this story is: "Don't clean up after yourself. Don't respect other people's property. Steal from your parents to buy things you want if necessary." Okay, yeah, it really was. The moral really was: "Steal from your parents if they don't unconditionally support you; they just don't understand that my merch - I mean, your Playstation + subscription - is that important!"
idk im kind of on the mom's side. winning tournaments isnt a job, its a competition. its not a guarantee that you'll get the money. unless he said hes a streamer or a youtuber, then im on the moms side. the mom never saw him winning a tournament and getting the prize money so how tf can he be so confident saying its a job without ever winning a tournament before?(if he actually has won before and winning tournaments is easy for him, THEN WHY DID HE HAVE TO USE HIS MOM'S MONEY INSTEAD OF HIS OWN MONEY???) sorry but we need to oppress gamers
Dhar Mann videos convey, whether intentionally or not, that you are not worth considering as a minority, or gamer, or whatever, unless you can succeed. We saw it with the gamer girl video. The moral of the story was that the girl deserved to be a gamer, not because of any basic consideration that you should give to any person wanting to express their autonomy, but because she was able to impress her mother with her skills. This message is not pro women, pro minority or anything. The central message in these videos actually runs counter to everything a social progressive stands for. These videos actively play into the notion that if you want to do a thing but you are not in the majority identity of people who also do this thing (a girl gamer, or a gayboy basketball player), then you have to PROVE your worth. In Dhar Mann Land it's not enough for minorities to be treated with the same level of default respect as you would for the people in the majority, but, as a minority, it's your job to prove your worth for those who would tell you you can't do a thing based on an identity that has no bearing on that thing in the first place. Dhar Mann is a worthless conn artist who makes stupid cruel videos for stupid cruel people. Unironically, (I say this with the utmost level of sincerity) you will find better morals in Doctor Seuss books. You will find better morals and rules to live by in the fables of old or any number of picture books made for children. Dhar Mann is worse than worthless from a moral standpoint. He is actively contributing to the roadblocks faced by minorities still to this day and he's either too stupid or too cold to know or care.
So this mom is 10k in debt and her adult son is living at her home playing video games and stealing money. And she should be understanding cuz he's gonna make a career out of playing cod on xbox
In what way does the mom regret her decision? She doesn't even have TIME to regret it before her slimy husband (who probably gave their son her credit card even though he knows money is tight) just negates her decision entirely! There's no regret! No lesson is learned here! The only person who did anything wrong is Damien for COMMITTING CREDIT CARD FRAUD! Also if they're super poor, there's no way they have good enough internet for someone to game competitively. The lag would be atrocious. And why did he wait until his mom got pissed off again to tell her about the money? Why didn't he go to her right away? Also: What's the kid doing playing video games on a Monday? What are BOTH PARENTS doing HOME in MIDDAY on a MONDAY if the family is SHORT ON MONEY???? WHY AREN'T THEY WORKING???? Also, petition to change the Sardonicast to the Dharmannicast
4:00 "You need a real career, like being a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer" Those job titles don't just equate to success.. My dad has a lawyer friend who lives in his car... Income is income, success is success, find it where you can 👌
Parent: "Get a job" Kid: "Muuuum, playing video games IS my job" Is a conversation that happens every day around the world, and the kid is never correct in this scenario.
Lessons learned: 1. I should steal from my parents 2. I will win tens of thousands from my first attempt at my dream, on the first try and without having a back up job while trying. 3. It's totally normal to be exactly 10k in debt on the dot, given the existence of interest. Thanks dharman!
1. Dharminder Mann is the son of the owner of an East Bay taxi empire, so it's a 'born on third thinking you hit a triple' rich boy scenario. Not to say DM hasn't put in work into his pursuits, but he's benefitted from advantages and privileges most creators never experienced 2. He was busted for defrauding the city of Oakland (with assistance from a city councilmember who was in his or daddy's pockets) so his morality lessons are completely bankrupt 3. He explained to Cody Ko the writing process, which is to make the characters and dialogue so one note and simplistic that children and non-English speakers can follow it 4. His social media posts directly contradict most of his lessons about materialism and 'faking it for the 'gram' 5. He's corny af
apparently a large part of his fanbase are non-english speakers so that's why he has simple words like the bill being 49$ for X-box rather than something like "in-game purchase of 4900 v-bucks in cod ghosts or something"
Dhar Mann: Don't steal your mother's card or you'll be fake scammed by fake Macauley Culkin Also Dhar Mann: Buy things with your mother's credit card if it means following your extremely unrealistic dream.
I'm waiting for the phone torture scene, where Dhar Manns' hand is constantly pierced through by the PS5 ಠ◡ಠ Pikau: "Dhar Mann videos look like they take place in the Life is Strange universe"
Aww shit, I love COD: Ghosts! Not because it's good (it's not), but I love imagining what mental gymnastics were required to hand waive Mexico, Central+South America magically unifying.
