I have tried many different online yoga instructors and Susannah is by far my favorite. I can feel my bones improving! I am in my early 70s and I do a lot of hiking. All of the uphill hikes are getting easier! So happy. Thank you Susannah!!

Hi Susannah, i was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis in my hips, lower lumber spine and neck. I also have some arthritis in my hips and a very wonky foot from a recent surgery (affects my balance). I have been enjoying your videos and the length and hardness is just perfect for me. Thank you!

I was sent for a bone density scan after a bad fall on ice this past winter which crushed my wrist, resulting in surgery and permanent hardware. I was shocked to discover that I have osteoporosis because I walk my dogs every day, practice yoga, and eat a healthy diet! I researched the drug they wanted to put me on and was shocked that it's even legal!! So began my journey and I'm so glad to have found you along the way!!

Welcome to the Tribe! I also fell on black ice and fractured my wrist badly had surgery. This was a traumatic fall (as was yours I'm sure!) in which most anyone would have fractured. That said, losing bone density is a normal result of aging so I was surprised and concerned but not shocked. We just need to do everything we can (now that we know!) to stay strong and active going forward!

Mine was also a traumatic fall (steep hill on ice) so when they told me I needed a bone density scan because I had a “fragility” fracture I laughed. I’m hoping to receive your reversal plan and have subscribed via the link. Thanks so much for what you’re doing!

Hi Susannah, I particularly enjoyed this session of strong bones exercises. It’s a bit challenging but I like challenges anyway. The part where one kneels down with one leg extended forward and lifted requires balance as well as strength. I also loved half warriors pose, the chair pose and also the part with weights. You are indeed an inspiration. Thank you so much!

I'm so excited to have found this channel! I'm a long-time yogini just diagnosed with osteopenia. Should I do this playlist daily in the order you have it? Also how can I mix in cardio on the elliptical at the gym without overdoing it? Appreciate any suggestions!!

Every article I've read emphasizes no forward folds for osteoporosis.

You are correct, forward bends are not recommended if you have osteoporosis. I normally say "bend your knees" in all forward bends. I agree I should have brought more awareness to that in this video. That said, the two FBs I demo I do so gently and I do not hold, I am comfortable that most folks practicing this video will not be at high risk and those moves will be fine. Of course there is always a risk with any physical activity, so please modify for your needs. Thanks for your comment.

Yes, you are correct. Ideally I should have have said BEND YOUR KNEES. Disclaimer: this was not filmed with folks at high risk in mind. Thanks for pointing this out.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with osteopenia at age 68. I’ve just started researching how to modify my yoga poses because I understand that twists and forward bends are dangerous with this condition. Now I’m confused as I begin this video because you are having us do a forward bend. Please help me understand?

Hi Carla, You are correct that twists and forward bends can be dangerous if one has osteoporosis. I always offer the modification to bend knees in forward bends, because the danger is in the rounding the spine. Also, twisting can (and should!) be done gently, not to full range of motion.
