Hello, We are Jason & Kara of the Everlanders, Follow along as go from the early stages of building our off-grid home on wheels, to selling our house and taking our expedition truck full time on the road!
Having enjoyed years of off-grid and back road camping in various campers, but never finding one that was ideal, we set out to build our own. Modeled closely after the infamous Turtle V, we secured an F-550 with the venerable International 7.3L Diesel. The living quarters are made from an aluminum exoskeleton with honeycomb composite panels bonded to the inside faces.
In 2018 we sold everything, left Canada, and headed south, through the United States, Mexico, and throughout Central America. In 2022 we shipped our Rig from Panama to Colombia over the Darian Gap. Now heading south through Ecuador towards the Southen most tip of South America.

I have never, and I mean, never seen this level of competence and intelligence on RU-vid. Combination of your electrical and mechanical professorial knowledge is legendary, and I treat diseases for a living. Kudos to you sir.
@beatsalathe5223 Anything will work... The 6 parts are glued with Superglue, but it isn't even needed as the aluminum struts bolt them together until they are glued to the dish.
I have a champion dual generator that i would like to wifi on/off generator before i start well pump for irrigation. Is this something I should look into!?
Does it draw down all the B300's equally or draw one down then start drawing from the next? Can they be hot-swapped so you could take one or two somewhere with power to recharge in the event of extended outage and not enough sun for solar?
@@Everlanders so I guess one would have to keep a reserve battery disconnected to keep it from being drawn down, then hot swap it in and take the others to recharge somewhere.
Do you have a video update on your new AC? I see your outdoor unit is different than the one in your first Forest Air AC video. Would much appreciate knowing what you decided to go with!
@@Everlanders oh thanks for confirming! After looking more closely I was thrown off by the additional black fan on the front, which made me think it was different. Thanks again for all your content, you've inspired me so much! My overlander will never be as cool as yours, but you give me something to work towards!
Why don't you dump the excess electricity into a Sand Battery that could be in the middle of your water tank and put the dc water heater element in the sand battery to heat the sand ?... 😃
Woahhhhh!! Very impressive, your technical know-how is first rate. Think I felt a little faint when I saw your dashboard and you started talking about Python scripting ha ha huge kudos, thank you so much for posting!
perfect glad to hear this, what are your thoughts, do you think it will have taken dishy out when it went pop ? We cut the end off dishy and x-swapped the cables there, will we need to put back to 686B configuration? Don’t want mess it up great videos by the way
Nice system. How much water of the smaller keg can you use if you pressurize it with 40psi? I din not really get why are you using smaller keg for shower. Is it enough for both of you?
The smaller keg is easier for Kara to wield if she needs to carry it off to the bushes... We'll usually put 9 liters in it and pressurize to 40psi... This usually gets us half way and then we give it another 40psi bump when we switch out.
@fibranijevidra It depends on the availability of water... If currently in the Atacama desert of Chile, then we need to conserve. If we're near a spring or clean river, then we might each use 10L... The trigger operated spray nozzle really helps conserve.
I find your videos fascinating! You do so many cool things that I wish I could do and might be able to do with the instructions that you give. Thanks for sharing! I am amazed by how organized everything is in your truck! Great job!
We have had an issue with our PoE injector from Amazon, it’s burnt out the cable end on the router side so I am getting the boondocker one, that’s why I asked if it needed to be x-swapped like the original 🙌🏻
Hello, I've been following your channel and really enjoying it. Is there any chance for me to work with you? My product is generator. Looking forward to your reply!
That's a cool place with a surprising variety of stuff to see and do. Interesting how the islands sort of feel like islands. Are the ridges in the salt uncomfortable to drive over? I like how Scooty Puff is becoming a regular character. I picked up one about a year ago and I've put 1000 miles on it, which equates to about $4 in electricity. They're a lot of fun.
We've just returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma from a week in New Brunswick (where we do plan to eventually park our bus), and were sure to bring back a good supply of Coffee Crisps and Ketchup chips.
Been there on a 4 day guided trip in a Toyota yute. The sunrise on a neighboring volcano was really other worldly. Then I got altitude sickness, but only for an hour as chewing coca leaves from the other family really helped! Glad you had fun!
@@Everlanders no I get that. And your rig is truly epic! I just meant something electric that could move the rig instead of its primary engine. I understand motors are not cheep, not light weight, and not conservative on power, and they aren't plug and play. But then again, it's your house. So if you were to experience another fuel shortage, you wouldn't be stranded far from home. I think it's very cool people were willing to sell you gas while experience a shortage themselves.
I wouldn't consider it, at 700Wh/Km to move this 7 ton unit, it would completely darin our 11.5Kwh of batteries in 15.71 km or 9.76 miles... Not worth the expense and weight of carrying it halfway around the globe.
Could you do us a small favor & post your positions using What3words. I tried to find you on the Salt flats, not easy on google. Loved the video guys 😊
Any idea how old those old steam engines are? Interesting about the fuel situation. Those cacti look like they could be related to the ones out in Arizona. Cool trip, thanks for sharing!
This website shows some are nearly 100 years old: www.steamlocomotive.info/vlocomotive.cfm?Display=13099 A more complete list: www.steamlocomotive.info/country.cfm?which=bolivia
Wow, what a salty video. Flat out loved it. Does this giant salt lick prove there are giant space cows? Too bad about the touristy stuff, it does take away from the experience. Hide that stuff in post. It's not like any of us are going to drive down there tomorrow and say "What the....?"
Thank you for these great videos! You've inspired many of my diy cabin projects! Keep up the brilliant work as your adventures continue! I have a question regarding your use of uv sterilization. The info I see from the manufacturers all seem to recommend leaving the bulb on continuously to create a 'barrier' between the 'good' and 'bad' water. Aside from maximizing company profits, are there other issues in only using the uv when needed? I'm keen on maximizing my energy efficiency any way I can. Have you experienced any 'contamination' creeping in as the potential of cross contamination exists every time the light is turned off? Do you let the water run briefly to clear the system? I'm interested in doing something similar with the light controlled by the sensor and Arduino, any insight would be helpful.
