Thank you so much for this video! Like two days after I saw this I tried it in my backyard and I kid you not it was the best I’ve ever hit! Thank you so much! Truly
It’s so nice to see videos of older players (that start) playing volleyball (again). I myself am 33 and was struggling coming back at 30, having not played indoor volleyball for 12 years. I mean look at her power 😍😍😍
That would be fun to travel and do clinics. I’ve considered it. Just need to figure out the demand and logistics. Does he play club or school ball? I would need a local contact to help secure a gym for example.
I’m not sure about volleyball, it sometimes you have to exaggerate a maneuver to get the student to emphasize the right movement. For example in swimming, you don’t want to drop your front arm too early, so we’ll do a drill where both hands must touch before cycling to the next hand. You wouldn’t swim like that realistically, it it helps reinforce the positive behaviour that you don’t want to drop your lead arm too soon
Thank you Coach Chijo - this summer I am coaching my girls V-ball - we are call the "Spikers". So this video really help them up their game to be call Spikers.
Yeah me too. That was one of my very first videos and didn’t know too much about how to take video. Sorry. Hope the rest of the video was helpful. I do have a couple other Setting videos that are better and more current on my Channel.
Have you done exercise at a track before? I’ve had several back surgeries so I can’t do high impact stuff. I’ve done things like walk fast on a track and that gets my heart rate up.
From all the videos I've seen and you look like a really good coach. I was wondering, as a 5'0-5'1 outside/middle, any tips to jump higher and hit harder? I am also looking for a good coach.
Thanks for watching my videos! You may want to consider plyometrics. www.health.harvard.edu/blog/plyometrics-three-explosive-exercises-even-beginners-can-try-202308022960
You would just add another step with the Right foot. So… Right > Left > Right > Left. In reality different hitters use 3, 4 or even 5+ steps. It’s what is comfortable for the hitter and how much time they have for the approach after they get available. The most critical steps are only the last two… Right > Left to make sure they are powerful to lead to the jump.
When is your tryout? In my opinion a DS should have very good conditioning along with speed and agility. They must be strong and fast. A coach can try and give you tips on technical skill but you will have to move quickly to the ball in order to use those skills. Also I have DS/digging videos on my channel to watch. Thanks for asking!
Thank you for watching my video! What is “la manchette” referring to? I tried translating it but the English is “cuff” and now sure what that is referencing.
I have to thank you so much. I lost my timing after a training session a year ago. I tried this excercise last week and I GOT SO MUCH BETTER AT HITTING! I didn't imagine it getting better that fast. I have just one question: sometimes the ball was set not high enough to imagine catching it over my head. What would I do in those situations? I struggled a bit with that. Again thank you so much for uploading your tipps. I wish you and your team great success for the next seasons! Greetings from Germany :)
Thanks so much for watching my video! That’s great that you tried it out. If the ball is tossed too low then it simply won’t work so just try it again. In our trainings we aim for a 2-tempo ball or set meaning the ball is in the air for 2 seconds. From the time it leaves the setter/tosser’s hands to when the hitter catches/hits the ball is about 2 seconds. See if your tosser can do that. Good luck in Germany! 🙌
Thanks for this and all your content. My 14 year old son took up volleyball a year ago and it’s hooked him in and enthused him where no other sport has come close. He’s coached well at his club (all voluntary) and been invited to the National Volleyball centre a couple of times too, so progressing fast. But here in the UK volleyball is very niche and I knew very very little. Your coaching videos are so clear and make perfect sense. I’ve coached cricket and can see where certain skill principles can transfer between sports, but the clouds of the volleyball specifics are now clearing ! Useful for both of us here, but personally it’s helping me get talking volleyball with the coaches and how I can help at home. A big “cheers” from the UK. I’m being hooked in as a fan of the sport while loving seeing my son’s passion and enjoyment.
Congratulations on your son progressing in the sport he loves. I truly appreciate your feedback and it is very rewarding to create videos that are helping and inspiring others to enjoy volleyball. Thank you for watching! Big cheers back to you from across the pond!
That is an audible we use for serve receive. I teach my passers to call out either short (if short serve), Mine (if it is close) and then deep (if it's a deep serve). I got this technique from the previous Stanford coach at a clinic.
