I have a question on that gear that the throttle handle goes on, isn’t it supposed to be able to rotate independently of itself when you press the throttle only button? My button stopped working so I took it apart and it doesn’t seem like they can rotate independently. I can’t seem To find that part online either to replace it.
Good to have you back! We were actually rewatching your series from buying The Whale and wondered if we we would see you again 😉 Anyways, best of luck with the search. But keep in mind that summer and boating season dont last forever, so get a nove on. . . And you should've bought the Sea Ray 🤣
Thanks Paul! Good to be back...hopefully get back in to a regular schedule with vids again. Also hoping this one works out, and I'll be on the water soon! That Sea Ray was a nice boat...just comes down to being a bit too much boat for what I want right now. We'll see how things go with a fun little runabout for a while!
Our first boat was a 2010 Crownline 180 - great boat. Plenty of power with the 4.3L / Alpha One. Check out the Mercury High Five prop if you do - helped with hole shot, and the boat planed at a much lower speed too and really cornered well.
Great to see you again, and glad you are doing well! Miss your videos, keep ‘em coming! I have a 32 Sea Ray Sundancer across the lake from you in Holland, MI and love your videos!
Hey Chad, nice to hear from you again! Looks like a nice rig! I had the same motor/drive combo on my last boat and worked very well. Honestly, if it's going to be you and 2 or 3 others, I think you will really like this boat. I can tell you; I went from a Sea Ray 200BR to a Sea Ray 220 Sundeck. Basically another 3 feet and an additional #2000lbs. Might not seem like much but it is a way bigger commitment, more than I thought. We have had it for 1 season now. The advantage, great in bigger water and I can take 10 people (my family) relatively easily. Best feature, walk through transom and swim platform. Disadvantage... heavy, uses more fuel and would difficult to launch on my own (never tried yet). Heading up your way July 4th. Maybe we'll see ya on the water, Cheers!
It is interesting how much difference there is between a few feet! Would be great to run in to you over the 4th up here! Have a good one, and maybe see ya soon! Cheers!
I went out the back door of the (most excellent) Escanaba Public Library yesterday and came upon the Cason J Callaway. Although I keep a casual eye on ships which pass our home in the U.P., I had never heard of the Cason J Callaway and took to RU-vid to learn about it. Thanks for posting this extremely informative video, Chad!
Got the impeller replaced and everything put back together but now i can't shift into reverse. Is there a certain position the shifting rod has to be in and does it need to line up somewhere with the shifting lever? It goes forward, neutral and tries to go into reverse but it cant get over the hump (the shifting rod doesnt go down far enough)
Leaving my original comment for future people, fixed it but putting it all back together including the shift linkage but manually turning the propeller while trying to shift into neutral and it finally went.
Been wondering when your next vid might pop. I'm sure if your life is like mine, it's way too busy. Hardly time to think. Stay safe and enjoy a cold one. Cheers!
I’ve been looking at boats but haven’t pulled the trigger on one yet. Been thinking about doing an update vid…but like ya said…finding the time to shoot and edit has been limited lately. Hopefully soon! All good otherwise tho!👍😎😎
This can be difficult to troubleshoot when all the wiring behind the panel is disconnected and reconnected. If just one or two wires were mislabeled or connected wrong (not saying that’s the case), it can be a tough task without a wiring diagram. Hopefully you have the diagram…that’s where I would start.
You mentioned when you first started cruising you were doing about seven or 8 kn a 12 gallons per hour is that 12 gallons per hour total or is that per engine?
I dropped by pin down that opening .. I used a bolt , but I can’t get the gear shifter to go reverse. Without the bolt it has full range of motion . Also if in reverse or neutral should you be able to raise rpm’s / via throttle? On mine the mechanism is blocked It’s only clear in forward Thx
I bought all new switch covers, so they were lettered by Carlisle (purchased from Great Lakes Skipper...great selection!). The white lettering for the circuit breakers was done by a local sign shop.
It's not that I don't like Sea Ray's...they are great boats. They are just as prolific as Corvette's and I'd never buy a Corvette because of that. LOL! My personal preference for toys keeps my interests in things you don't see all that often.
@@WiscoBoater I totally get that. I like stuff that you don’t see often. I just always hear Sea Ray is good, so wanted to know what you thought of them.
@WiscoBoater glad to hear it's still about! Your video is the only evidence I've seen of a second one. I thought I had the only one. Besides the information in the 1969 lund catalog
I found out that to bleed the air out. Fill fluid to the high mark and pressurize to 40 psi then turn the steering wheel back and forth a number of times from stop to stop until you feel resistance in the wheel
20 was my typical cruise speed when going somewhere, and that trip was as long as I would push it at 6 1/2 hours. At that speed, 150 miles was the comfortable range.
Awesome video! The best video out there! I just picked up a 7.5HP and it’s not even dribbling anymore. I got to pick up an impeller then I should be good to go! Thanks again for this video!
Great video 🎉 I have a Honda 9.9 hp I ran it out of the water to drain gas out of the carb and it ran for like 2 minutes. I’m pretty sure I smoked the impeller
Half way thru... Ya done good, bud. I kin understand every word! And it's nice and slow (unlike yer choice of background moosick)... Hey I'm 78 and KNOW where the volume knob is!!! and I still like Tangerine Dream after many years in late night raddio.. Ennyway, the vid is A BIG help... T'would be nice to know where to get a PDF of a manual... I just picked up an '84 7.5 and have found unlike when it was new that parts may be a hard come- by and also the repair books too... Well back to the video last half... Tanks for sharing!!! Also, The zip tie trick is good to remember! As an old time mech, I probly woulda spent more time on the shaft and a different method of removing the impeller, but yer methods are yer methods. Always good to grease up the shaft after massaging it with a bit of 320 w/d paper to prevent future degradation... Nonetheless, I reinforce what I said previously and I didn't have to learn a new foreign language or buy an electronic translator OR slow the video to 50% of normal speed jest to keep up!!! Thanks again!
