I have been involved in the car audio industry for over 2 decades, and have owned and Operated 2 car audio business years ago named Place of Bass and FTW Performance. I no longer operate a car audio shop, but have started a new business venture back in 2009 utilizing online affiliate marketing as an independent business owner and have done pretty dang well so far. And honestly, my journey towards success has just begun! This channel was simply put together to host my DIY, build, demo and product review videos in one convenient place along with other misc car/audio videos. As i keep posting more content on my channel, it attracted attention and drew in more and more subscribers. It is nice to know as an added bonus, that my content is helping other car audio enthusiasts with their builds to take it to the Next level!
one thing i never do is set gains with speakers unplugged.. your gonna get X volts at infinit ohms,. if you rise at all your not gonna get peak output since youl need a higher voltage at 2 ohms then 1 ohm so yeah most of what you said is true, dont use loudness or any special settings you dont need them.
Good evening dear friend...Your video is absolutelly amazing and very helpful..I would just like to ask you...when i m setting up my car audio, should i listen to my rear speakers?i mean i m setting up the front speakers and the sub and i have a beautiful sound but when the rear speakers are getting involved the sound is not good...what should i do?should i reduce the volume on my rear speakers so they wont get involved too much to the sound that i m hearing?Thank you very much in advance..!!!
Been working on my first set on and off for about two months now. Ready for the paint and wiring... Been a long learning process but they will be way better than the component set in the doors now!!
This Is good info, but it's only if you are using the head units internal amp, line level. Low level pre outs don't clip at the same point if at all. I have an $80 Pyle in my boat, I was literally just setting gains on my new 4ch amp last night, I did check for clipping on my pre-out first, with 2 Oscopes, one of which is the same as yours, I had absolutely no clipping at 40/40 volume, however I bet the speaker outputs were clipping their ass off. So I set my amp gains with full volume from my units. Set them right before clipping and the output voltage math lined up perfectly too. I definitely do like the Oscope method of setting up a system.
I appreciate this video man. I've recently just got back into having a system after a few years and I've been trying to refresh my memories on info that is needed to help out. You explained this very well.
I’ve subscribed mate can you reply so you tune this to the rear speakers wires of head unit to set the volume ok but I have mine set to all amps I don’t use stock head unit speaker wires so how can I do this
Im redoing my truck with all new equipment, sooooo I've bought a crap ton of goodies for a correct install 🙃 9 wire cable and clips and heat seals and bla bla ya everything AND NOW I FOUND YOUR VIDEO THAT THROWS MY WHOLE PLAN OUT OF THE WINDOW 😂 sooooo much easier WTF Why didn't I think of it... reverse tech-olagy 😂😂😂 Mostly skar equipment im not returning it, later projects... Thank you sir 🎉 PS i said truck, it's an extra cab, the rear door speaker wire goes backwards YES...IT WORKS 💪
I’ve subscribed your very loyal to help people this video has help me as I’ve always done it by ear and I was right all these years do you have a link for that scope evening tho I don’t need it it’s ideal incase I go death one one day lol
Appreciate the vid I just used to think fuck let me move all these switches around see what sounds best to me, not until I blew my equipment im here doing my homework 😂 thanks
I always add the small round speaker feet on the underside of my amps to get them raised up (off the floor or wherever mounted) to better help air flow. Just buy the cheap rubber ones and they are like 50 cents to a $1 each. And double up if you have shag carpet. lol You can even paint them to match your amp if it's visible. Great cheap idea that works. Good video! (Laptop cooling fans are also an option and can mount onto the amplifier easily. And they can have 1 fan or up to 5 and 6 fans for a single laptop configuration. And they are not expensive either.).
Using a Kicker, Recoil, or AudioControl LOC (only 3 brands that I know that work without distorting your signal) to filter and boost your signal to your amps will make your amps run cooler. Plus even sound better. Best $25 you can spend for your car stereo. Cool Stinger fans though. I'm impressed with the Stinger Line of car stereo products for their price. You can also run the fans at a lower voltage to have them run quieter.
I know this is old, however, there’s a reason you would want to fuse the amplifiers. If they do not contain any onboard protection, such as internal fusing or external fusing, you could get in trouble. In this case, you would fuse to the recommendation of the amplifier and ensure the wire is sized accordingly.
Nearly every modern amplifier has internal fuses to protect internal components. Fuses in car audio are to prevent fires, caused by a nicked power wire that connect to ground (ground is basically every piece of metal in the car).
