In Defense of Hood Stacks

In today's video I give the pros and cons of hood stacks and build my own exhaust. Hood stacks make it easier to fit your engine after a fummins diesel swap. However with a hood stack it can also be hard to fit your hood. With a hood stack you also need to keep rain out of your exhaust pipe. I made my exhaust out of some stainless steel and some v-band clamps and it was very easy.
Now get out there and build something!

Its weird how little traction your videos get. These are so well done. I really hope you get the views and such you deserve

Really cool exhaust mod! And your explanation of why big trucks have stacks, makes sense. I never thought of it. If you do decide to have a meet up like the other comment suggested, please let me know. I have family in Idaho Falls, and would also really love to see it in person.

Very cool build been toying with d50 swapping an f150 for rock crawling. I think the parallel 4link will be much better than even extended radius arms

I love this video. I'd want to hood stack my 12 valve if I didn't already have a BD exhaust brake and turbo back 4" exhaust. Keep up the awesome work my brother! God bless you.

Hood stacks are pretty cool if you don't mind modifying your hood to fit it, which is the opposite of what Im willing to do for my 1994 F150 that I cummins swapped. Like you mentioned though, the clearance for a downpipe is super tight, a imagine a little bit of percussive maintenance should handle that. More power to you man, mines not even running just yet lol.

For your hood get another hood from the wrecking yard to extend your current hood. You could have done the same with your fenders by sanctioning them. Too bad you got rid of the other Explorer those body pieces would have came in handy.

That was my original plan with the hood and fenders, but unfortunately someone stole my trailer with the green explorer on it so that ruined those plans 😬. I had most things of value off the explorer, but losing the trailer really sucked.

You just created an exhaust leak to drain water 😂 yeah not good logic brother I get what you going for nice

If the exhaust leak is after the turbo, and its just a straight pipe anyways, what difference does it make 🤷‍♂️. Certainly beats having to cover the exhaust, or forgetting and ruining the turbo. Only negative effect it could have would be noise, but if it made any I would just change the size of the hole until it didnt. Ive been running it like this for a while now and havent heard any strange noises yet, especially considering how loud it is regardless.
